You guys don't understand, Lux needed a buff because one Riot employee couldn't delete a 10K health Cho'gath with heartsteel

Nah, even Cho'gath players don't buy heartsteel. But you know who buy it? Camille, Shaco, Diana Katarina, Yi and even Vayne if the top Vayne is unhinged enough. Against those kind of players the buffed Lux will still die. Because with enough stacks they'll tank the full combo from Lux then kill her with their 20% health remaining assuming Lux can hit them in the first place with all that mobility.

It's both. Or rather, the metric Riot uses - Winrate - was low and the only method they use to buff champs are boosting damage values because it's immediate and visceral and makes monke brain happy. The funny part is she STILL won't be OP because Rito overturned tank items so hard that it's an honest to god tank meta right now and if you aren't doing HP% burn you're a noodle slap.

i dont think this buff was really to effect her gameplay for adc/mage/assassin her combo 1 shot them already.. the ult always did like 1k damage now its gonna do like 1.3k damage..
but imagine if lux does like 2k damage with her Q E R combo like 350-350-1300
to kill lets say a volibear with 5.8k hp....
it would take QER QE QE QE QER or 350+350+1300 + 350+350 + 350+350 + 350+350 + 350+350+1300 = 6100
you would need to wait for Q to come up 4 times, E to come up 4 times and ult to come up twice to kill a 5800hp volibear... assuming you can get her cooldowns to 5 -5-15 you still have to wait 30 full seconds to kill voli, in which he can be running away or chipping at your HP...

Calling it now lux is getting the prestige lunar Beast skin this year
If you ask me her low win rate comes from the fact that she’s so insanely popular, even top laners in bronze know her kit front to back by now. She’s 100% skill shot based so when everyone playing knows her kit she’s gonna have a bad time.
Buffing her and drowning her in skins is ironically only going to make this worse until her stats hit a critical mass and she needs to be nerfed into the ground again. Imo she’s a fantastic case study against Riot’s numbers-based balancing methods. You could probably raise her AP ratios by another 20-30% and she would still be underrepresented in pro play. Problem is everyone else has to deal with her
also her q which is what she needs to setup a kill is really slow so it makes it easy to dodge

@@whindmane612 It really is that easy. It's about the same speed as a Morg Q but with a smaller hitbox. The easiest way to catch unsuspecting fools with it is through a minion or another champ, which works better in Bronze. Really, it's best to chain with other player's faster CC or point and click stuff.

These buffs do what I want Lux to do up in higher elo: Kill people if they are bad enough to get hit by her q. That is the role she plays as a support right now.

Ironically, this made her playable in ARAM again...while making her too strong on SR. They should honestly revert this buff and just undo her ARAM debuff.

To be fair Lux is very squishy and can be killed when ambushed by melee champions or assassins, so even if this buff is a marketing idea it doesn't change much. Different story would be if Katarina got a buff of any kind: yeah, make an assassin that has insane movement speed to dodge skillshot, can build health items and delete you in 3 moves even better at her role. That would be orrible.
She is still annoying. Especially that laugh… oh god that laugh…
That sense of fairness you mentioned will chop your ass when your support goes lux and goes result in 0 12 botlane

Honestly they could nuke her e r damage if they did that and buff the passive scaling make her go lichbane keep the cds and push her less towards nuker and more towards combo harass trader even with high ap as she can add the auto safely but without using it and lich doesn’t threaten a kill with a single snare

lux buff is fine imo , there are other mages who need it more tbh but I'm not unhappy with lux getting a buff now and then . I'm still unhappy tho that AD assassins have not been nerfed at all since I've started playing the game (2-3 years ago) tho and there is no counter play to any of them .

tbf "no counterplay" really only applies to the one tricks and shit and even then champs like Zed, Yasuo, Yone, or Talon definitely aren't as easy to play as a lot of people make it sound. Good news for you tho that Zed just got a pretty good bonk this patch.

Well saw a lux in my game yesterday chugging 2 full combos with 200 cs and 3 items and did absolutely nothing to bruisers and tanks so yeah

Like, literally that champion can make half an item and with his W E Q, he can get more than half of your HP down. Plus players don’t know how to play Lux in general, so it’s justified. And it’s usually an easy match up against her, just get something with one single mobility ability, evade her Q and kill her. That simple. There has not been a single ranked game in the past few months where I didn’t perma ban Zed. (:

HEr abilities all just do one thing (plus damage), she has to compete with new releases, where the passive alone does damage, stuns enemies, removes CC from themself, reveals enemies, gives you free gold, sucks the player of during gameplay and does their taxes, and is still the weakest ability the Champion has...

Lux does need buffs, but in a way that scales late. After level 9ish she does zero dmg to anyone on par with her. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an iron tier trash -heap.
I used to play Lux. But she's been buffed so much that I don't play her because playing her makes me stupid when I have to play other champs. I just assume I always have the damage, mana and cooldowns to do any stupid thing if I play her too much.
