I got lucky when I typed in "how to repair a rocking chair". Your Gustav Stickley chair is very simular to the chair my wife got. Your repair work helped a ton! Thanks.

Cool! When I made this video it seemed like such on obscure topic. Glad to hear it helped or at least gave you some ideas!

Wow, dowelled construction on a G.Stickley!

I know, I was shocked. Still a cool old rocker. Thanks.

@@TheThoughtfulWoodworker BTW what are your thoughts on the use of period-correct glue for a project like this where the piece is pretty valuable? Old fashioned glues could be relatively easily released to allow for future repairs, whereas PVA is permanent. Thanks.

@@gilessteve I personally don't like hide glue. I've had it fail before, but I've had great luck with Titebind II PVA style glue. I basically want the repair to hold, so I use the best glue available. Thanks.

@@TheThoughtfulWoodworker Cheers! It's something I don't have to worry about since I only work on my own cheap pine furniture. I've found PVA to be incredibly strong.

Was wondering if y’all could dispense with the background music, or at least tone it way down to the same level as your voice. I was having a hard time getting through vid. And that was without my hearing aids(!).
Really enjoyed content though. Love new Stickley pieces and would like someday to work on an older one or two. Maybe something a few decades newer than 1903. I’m old, but not insane!😊

Yes, I have taken viewers advice and changed new videos moving forward.
Closed captioning is available on most of my videos, which can be helpful for some. I sometimes just want to watch videos quietly, so I'll turn on CC when available.
      Thanks for your suggestions.

Excellent video! Did that wax have dye in it?

Thanks! I used Briwax mid brown paste wax. It looks pretty dark when you first put it on, but once you wipe it back, it doesn't change the overall color much. The main benefit is it will even out the color of chips and blemishes in the wood.
