Tbh, a small part of me wishes Sanemi had died instead of Shinobu, who still had so much to do and so many people to look after. But then I think a big part of her character is dying to Douma because otherwise if she had lived he might have seemed weaker. Still, I feel really bad for Kanao, Aoi, Inosuke and the Butterfly sisters. And Sanemi of course, who got possibly the saddest goodbye scene ever Imo.. ☹️

He is then forced to kill his own mother, because of this, Genya blamed Sanemi & labelled him a murderer. Sanemi became broody & lonely, killing demons alone, until he met Masachika Kumeno. He became friends with Masachika, Masachika became his first best friend & made him happy after being traumatized & depressed for a long time. His dream is to become a Hashira alongside Masachika, until they both stumble against Lower Rank 1 Ubume. Masachika died at the battle, Sanemi became a Hashira alone. He then fell in love with Shinobu's sister, Kanae Kocho, who was very kind & considerate of him. Not only did he build a romantic bond with Kanae, he formed a deep respect fo Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Similar to Masachika, Kagaya also became a burning hope & a reason for Sanemi to live. Until then, Kanae died fighting Upper Rank 2 Doma, with Shinobu (her sister) being the replacement of her rank. He also soon became friends with Iguro Obanai. Multiple months/a few years later, Muzan Kibutsuji infiltrated the Ubuyashiki Estate & Kagaya had to kill himself in order for his plan to defeat Muzan to work. Enter the Infinity Castle, Kanae's sister, Shinobu Kocho, died fighting Upper Rank 2 Doma as well. Sanemi fought with his long lost brother Genya against Upper Rank 1 Kokushibo, which might actually be the most important fight of his life so far. After the battle, his brother, Genya Shinazugawa, died fighting Upper Rank 1 Kokushibo alongside Muichiro Tokito. Stalling Muzan to the final sunrise, the entire Demon Slayer Corps had to participate this against this ancestral arch nemesis. After the battle, the person he got the closest to compared to the others, Iguro Obanai, died fighting Muzan. He had suffered so much in life that when he entered the afterlife for a brief time, he was actually happy for a while. He then woke up & realized he is still alive. Shinobu on the other hand, still has alot of reasons to live after the battle, whereas Sanemi lost EVERYTHING in his life.
