I like to think the kids grew up to live fulfilling lives; Anthony became a private investigator like in the second time-line, Annabelle became a child psychologist, Tommy became an artist, Edward became a musician, Niccolo became an actor, Pete became a children's book writer, Momo became a seamstress, and Charlotte became a toy maker

Anthony’s imaginary friend is weird tho. At first, it felt like Hollow was kind of evil? I dunno, the way she acted made me think that way for the first interactions
I love how one of the kids just up and decided 'forget the secret passage, I'm no clipping to the backrooms' and just runs through the wall.

Since we know for a fact Pooky and Hollow at least looked different I think all of the other imaginary friends used to look different. Maybe there could be another game that will show what all the friends looked like.

i made a theory that the time in the asylum made the Imaginary Friends look the way they do in the game (aka 3D-modeled and more detailed), they prob looked simpler like Hollow before she got to the current timeline and Pooky before escaping with Annabelle

This game keeps me thinking they're maybe not imaginary friend, but more like a tulpa which is more sentient and can interact in the real world, which I always love this concept. And I love the story despite the heavy subject and glad it has somewhat a happy ending.

@@SetariM I agree. What I meant is that imaginary friend often refers to be child's plaything and can get rid of. Tulpa is more advanced, they're aware of their existence, they have their own thoughts, and they're in control of themselves.

The lore is actually crazy like the other game for The sequel was actually just a second timeline and this is the actual one wow
I’m kinda split with the whole timeline thing. On one hand, it kinda feels like a “jump the shark” moment for the series to have an imaginary friend straight up rewrite time through a cosmic entity. But on other hand, it does give the kids a chance to survive by the end without outright retconning the first game and even opens up some possibilities for a sequel.

The first game was called “The Friends We Left Behind”, which is the timeline where Anthony was the only one who made it out of there alive and came back as an adult facing the now angry imaginary friends. Even SHB played it 5 months ago.

I love how Hollows story implies that Annabell has died once too, and Pooky rewound time to save her. Look at how Pookys appearance changes from Annabelles flashback, from bright and vibrant to the one we know. Thats exactly how Hollows appearance changes in the second timeline. Pooky couldnt rewind time a second time because Annabelle was lobotomized rather then killed, and they merged. Leading to the events of "The Friends We Left Behind" and Hollow sacraficing her eyes and being the one to rewind again.

Can't blame him for ignoring it. The knocking sounded like a wooden door, so naturally he thought of it. A glass being tapped sound would've directed the attention to the window and, thus, the ghost (even though the red glowing eyes are hard to ignore in the first place 😂😅).

I used to believe that imaginary friends were just a figment of imagination. However, the more I reflect on it, it seems that they have the ability to impact the physical world, boast eccentric designs, possess extraordinary powers, and are only visible to those who have imaginary friends of their own.

Also just wanted to point out a small thing you got a little twisted Mike. The first deal to rewind time the price wasn't a life for a life. The first timeliness hollow had green hair. After the reset it was Grey. The entity or as you put it "god" takes the physical traits of the imaginary friend. Sacrificing a part of her very being to turn back time to fix things. Also for a larger time reset it needed something more significant than color. It takes hollows eyes. Hollow ended the other boy to save Anthony. As she said not long before that scene. If it was to save someone you loved. Wouldn't you do the same.
I was in the discords Q&A earlier today, and Grant Marrs and his wife said they've got a 3rd game planned for the future!! But only if the game gets popular enough and they get enough funds from their patroon. Really hope that happens!!

Honestly im not sure about a 3rd game because this one had a very fitting ending and id be happy if it stayed this way

Man i feel bad for thise kids. Sure things ended up being ok eventually but they still went through abuse at a young age and that will cause them trauma as they grow. Not to mention their back stories, these kids deserved better and so did their imaginationary friends, especially pooky and Hollow who watched their children be abused by their parents. Thats really messed up...

This game has a very touching story about Anthony and Annabelle the past that they had been through but glad they stop the evil ghost of the asylum. This has been my fav game now and i be happy to see this game again, i just like it

To all of the imaginary friends I like is pooky and hollow
Its sad that there are actually adults that act this way towards children in the real world. Weather they are parents or teachers I've never understood the concept of surrounding yourself with something or someone you obviously hold distain towards.
Because people hate their lives, so they want to make others as miserable as they are. And they target those who are weaker than them and can't fight back so that they can feel powerful.
As someone who has worked around children often, I think it's mainly a patience thing, like how many people want to be in control and can't tolerate someone not following their command. I'm planning on doing a pod-cast episode on it eventually, but the general notion is basically kids are mistreated for just existing because they are seen as a burden and cause of one's issues and annoyance. Honestly I hate it, but it's just how people regrettably are

1:10:28 for some context: this scene is depicting someone getting two lobotomies at the same time. Typically, if I remember correctly, lobotomies were done through the left eye, but occasionally could be done through the right if a malformation of the skull of eye socket happened. The needles that he is hammering in enter through the eye socket, and enter the brain, lobotomizing the patient
This actually happened in that time period? Sorry I'm just someone who's fascinated with that time era.

Great game! The twist of Anthony having an imaginary friend was cool because I thought he didn't have one. That ending was certainly happier than the second timelines ending. Though, like Mike said, the timeline part was cool
At first I thought the twist was that the ghost of the asylum was actually his imaginary friend. But then I saw Hollow and was like “oh”

Boris hiding that he had an imaginary friend (the Ghost), which was my theory from early on, and that he was going to be revealed as a "collector" of the imaginary friends. I do like how this turned out, though!
I was kinda thinking that too, only for a few seconds after the Doctor showd up to the kids in the end
I was kinda hoping it would go that way as well, since it would explain how this Asylum just happened to have so many children with IFs, if he was deliberately seeking them out. But I'm happy with this ending too.

This made me really emotional. I've been in asylums and it's so interesting to see others views on them and stories about them.
what a story and amazing show of not needing a secret hidden lore for a good game. though i do wonder about the other imaginary friends powers. like hollow has time travel and pooky has fire but the others it's unclear.
the level of this story is beyond unique like i have never seen a story like this before
i played the game myself and i would say that the gameplay fits the story and it felt like a movie rather than a game

Hi Mike ! I'm from the silence community but GODDAM that game hit me in the guts. It was one of the rare game that I was impatient to see since you've played the demo and oh boy, I wasn't disappointed. It was harsh, a rollercoster of emotions and felt way to real. I loved every instant of your gameplay and was concentrate from beginning to end, which is very rare for me since I can't watch something and do nothing, but I did fell asleep watching this a few times, so I had to come back again and again.
I appreciate that you're always telling the name of the characters who's talking, too. I can be in my bed, closing my eyes and still understand what's happening, even tho I woke up to noises of numerous stabbing lol.
That game was SO GOOD and the creators are so creative. I loved that the imaginary friends looked like real imaginary friends made by children, they are so cool too.
Thank you again to Mike and the creators for this intense journey that kept me on edge since the beginning.

It took a while for me to understand, but I realize what Hollow's deals were, her first deal she exchanged her color (she turned from colorful to a monochrome) and her second deal she gave her eyes (her eyes were torn out and are replaced by two empty holes).
A detail that kinda flew by really quickly for a lot of people is that Anabelle said she wishes she would die, but says that she can't do that because she can't leave the other girls to suffer, but as soon as she hears about Anthony getting sent to be lobotomized, she lets go to save him.
They explained ut already,but at the asylum the imaginary friends took on a mountain re defensive look to protect the kids
I like all the imaginary friends even Hollow. ^^ Plus I liked both game plays of this game it's very good. ^w^ (fun fact: I use to or I think I still have imaginary friends though i may have forgot their names, I'm not sure I still see her or them often.)
