    “Since “balls out,” a similar saying with a similar meaning was used during World War II, it is likely “balls to the walls” did originate among military aviation personnel. Going further back, the variation “balls out” might have originated in the 18th or 19th century, when stationary steam engines were common. A stationary steam engine features a pivot with two iron balls, which acts as the throttle and is moved outward, or “balls out,” in order to increase the speed.”

    I had seen a few of the films that you recommended including The Guest (the latter just 3 weeks ago and because I am a HUGE fan of Dan Stevens; incidentally, I completely agreed with everything you said about it, also, although I would have mentioned the small supporting roles played by familiar faces like actors Leland Orser and Lance Reddick) but I mostly wanted to leave a comment tonight just to say that beyond the content, I really loved the style and creativity in your presentation! Very nicely done, sir! You got yourself another loyal subscriber. I've added several of your videos to my CZcams watch list and jotted down a bunch of your recommendations -- starting with films I had not even heard of (thank you very much!) -- to add to the top of my Must See list. Looking forward to watching more from you soon and checking out your suggestions seen tonight over the next week or so. Take care, be well and keep these fantastic filmic reviews a-flowing! • @jdell1964
    @jdell1964 Před 3 lety

    THIS IS A GREAT LIST…THANK YOU!!
    I haven’t seen 4 of them and based on this list I will definitely be checking out, The Night Comes for Us, The Guest, Toro, and Super Dark Times.
    Having said that....a few more things about some of these films:
    • Polar - If you love the John Wick franchise you will love Polar. Mads Mikkelsen is a seriously underappreciated actor, the movies he chooses and the roles he plays have been good in almost every single movie I've seen him in! As well as Hannibal Lecter on the show Hannibal.
    • The Impossible - this movie blew me away when I first saw it it was very gut wrenching and emotional, and really what stood out to me was the performance of a young Tom Holland. I was not surprised to see him picked for Spiderman and to see some of the movies he's been in recently and the roles he's played including The Devil All the Time on Netflix. With the Uncharted movie and Chaos Walking coming out, Tom Holland is on the verge of being one of the biggest stars in the country.
    • The Outpost - I couldn't agree more with this pic as this movie was good enough to been released in any theater and in my opinion, was almost as good as the Hurt Locker in the way it makes you feel the reality of war. I highly recommend it and the performances are great including Clint Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood. Could this be his ticket to being a big star like his dad we will see!
    • Midnight special - definitely the 2nd best acted movie on this list (uncut gems is 1st) Michael Shannon is great. I compare this movie to the movie star man, just taken to the next level!
    • Uncut Gems - What a great film. Adam Sandler is amazing in this movie in going along the ride for this character's decline to his inevitable ending is awesome. Lakeith Stanfield is awesome as well as Eric Bogosian, and surprisingly enough Kevin Garnett Is not that bad as an actor!
