- Doing some mid winter ice fishing in search of big northern pike and awesome underwater shots! Fishing was slow, but that didn't stop me from finding some fish. Stay tuned, and I hope you enjoy the video!

Thank you so much for sharing the fun, haven't been Ice Fishing in 20 + Yrs. my fondest memory is a perch hole at the end of the last day of Ice Fishing spring 1997, had a camera in the water watching a cloud of thousands of small perch, we had a camera at the hole as we fished them out and released in another hole a thousand yards away, two foolish grown children lol catching and running to the release hole as we took turns fishing

Try fishing your bait just 1 m under the ice. That has really worked out for me. Also you should really try bigger baitfish. Bigger baitfish has really been the key when it comes to bigger pike this year. I’ve still caught small pike, but the bigger pikes this year have hit the bigger baitfish exclusively! Also, the underwater clips are amazing!
Do you fish 1m under the ice even in deeper water? I've always kept it about 1m off bottom. I'd like to get bigger bait however it's hard to find larger minnows at most bait shops unfortunately. Sometimes I try catching my own bait to use but that can also be difficult to get the right size. Hopefully I can get some bigger ones soon! Thanks for the suggestions.
Peelindrag yeah! The deepest place I’ve fished was about 9 m and I fished 1 m under the ice. The most pikes seem to go 1-3 m under the ice. The pike have their eyes pointed upwards. In the lake I fish the most it’s about 6 m deep and i always fish 1 m under the ice. I always catch the baitfish myself and I like to use perch that are around 18-20 cm (7-8 inches) but that depends much on the lake. In the lake I mostly fish the most perch are around that size and the pike eat fish that size.

Whats the deepest you've stuck your gopro down to film? I've been getting fish consistently in 30 foot of clear water, just not sure if there's enough light down there for footage. I'll give it a try next time i'm out anyways.
I've done 20ft in pretty clear water and it wasn't the best quality but you could still see everything fine. Sunny days will make a big difference when your fishing deeper though. Can't wait to see the footage!

Nice fishing with live baits, here over in the Netherlands we aren't aloud anymore for several years to fish with live baits 🤨
I'm sure glad to be able to use live bait. Although some people swear by dead baits. I'd like to try those in the future

I have had problems from ising soundcloud misic tho IE copyright warning not strikes but warning from using free non copyrighted music strange. Where do you get your tunes from ?
@@HCRFishing I get music from CZcams. There is a channel called 'no copyright sounds' and 'audio library' that I use to get music. You can download it to use and just have to copy some info from their video description and paste it in your description.

Hey man, I've watched your videos for a while and I love these underwater videos! I'm trying to reproduce a similar setup, I've got it all figured out I think except for one thing. How far away do you put your camera hole from your tip up hole to get a good picture of the pike coming in/avoid the bait swimming off frame? I'd really appreciate any info! Thanks and tight lines!

Is your favorite fish a pike or a largemouth bass?
Mine is largemouth bass and I fish in thornapple lake Michigan
Through the ice bass can be more fun since you can jig for them easier. But open water I'd have to go with pike.
Did you get that rod from the hunting time show? I saw the same one there and almost picked it up
I got the tip up rod from Cabelas and the panfish rod from a small baitshop.

Great stuff man keep up the great work and do u have any tips for getting higher views my videos usually get around 100 views but my last one only got 50 I'm worried something is wrong do u have any tips or something u can do to help just looking for advice or u can tell me what I did wrong I'm my last video
I dont think you did anything wrong, CZcams is just not always consistent. Having a thumbnail that stands out but doesn't give away too much of your video helps too.
