As an Islanders fan since the 1970’s this was nostalgic and awesome to watch. Islanders pre cup years of the late 1970’s were very talented teams . These were exciting years living and being a hockey fan on Long Island. This season we thought the Islanders had a legitimate chance at winning a cup because they were a very talented team. But all credit to The Maple Leafs of 1978 because they were talented and physical and wore the Islanders down. Mike Palmateer was magnificent in goal that series. It was a hard fought classic series where Toronto’s physical play and great goaltending ultimately led them to win that series in 7 games to the very end on overtime.

The Islanders were a team on the way up but had learning hic ups along the way. When the rangers upset them in 79 they at last learned how to win it all the next year.

Incredible audio/video quality! Unusual for 70s early 80s hockey games. Hope you can find 12/23/78 vs the Rangers where Bryan Trottier scores 8 points, 6 of them in one period.

Didn't realize Bill Clement did analysis this far back even though it looks he was still in his playing days. Used to watching him back in the 90s early 2000s as an ESPN analyst.

I remember Bill Clement broadcasting mid to late 80’s on The USA Network. In 1978 Bill was 28 years old. At 28 he was unbelievably polished as a broadcaster. As well as handsome.

Great game! It started at a torrid pace and really exciting overtime. Nystrom sure scored some big playoff goals for Islanders. Bossy was mostly invisible.

Surprised the announcers didn't mention Bossy very much, he had just set an NHL record for goals by a Rookie with 53 goals.

Is it true that Jeraldine Buttpill is Sittler's hair dresser? If so, Jeraldine does hair like 'he' fights.
