- Tears of the Kingdom reminds me of Elden Ring. It really feels like Tears of the Kingdom took notes from Elden Ring. Could be that the devs ACTUALLY took inspiration from From Sofware's Dark Souls series in all reality. Especially since Elden Ring JUST released last year. But it's fun to imagine they took inspiration from Elden Ring lol

Honestly the Depths gave me the same feeling of "I want to go home" as Blighttown in Dark Souls 1
I had Tomb of the Giants flashbacks because of how dark it is
Unlike blighttown you can just warp out
All hail the might TP points!
Elden Ring: “BotW you’ve inspired me.”
Tears of the Kingdom: “Elden Ring you’ve inspired me.”
BOTW : "Dark souls you've inspired me"
@@skywam2077BOTW takes more from open world games like Skyrim than Dark Souls
Absence of traditional narration, main character who must uncover what happened through exploration, no specific path to follow, survival aspect where death comes easily, no OST, just a small music accompanying the sound of our footsteps, ruins to discover telling a past story, weapons that break, campfire for resting ...
Let’s just hope mommy is at the end of this area like last time.

i doubt they'd add key locations to their map increasing their workload just because they were inspired last year. Not a lot of time to add more to the map design and flesh it out.they'll keep the idea for the next game instead.
I thought this exact thing. I was like "there's no way Eldin Ring inspired this when the development cycles were more or less congruent... At least not enough for the entire map to be made in just a tiny bit over a year."
yeah i said this in the description lol
@@riqoz goddang im obsolete
@@PoisonDuckAnimations i think they definitely decided to increase/adjust the underground map size a little bit after Elden ring' release last year, thats why Nintendo delays the game to the mid of this year. Small changes or impact from Elden Ring is defintely there, like ER literlly took the gaming space by storm last year, and even broke into mainstream.
There are key locations in the underground alot in fact in totk
I am glad they implemented Blackreach from Skyrim :D
lmaoo
to be fair, eldin ring takes a lot of ideas from breath of the wild
this is fax
Genuine question I havent played much botw what ideas did er take ?
and vice versa...
@@friend4596 think about it this way
dark souls series are zelda games dark moments
@Friend the entire exploration aspect of the game, how you can go wherever you want. whenever you want. and how the map is divided in to a few very distinct regions.
also horse summon but thats a bit of a stretch
Definitely reminds me of Elden Ring as well!
All I hear when entering the depths is "Entering Ecological dead zone, are you sure whatever you're doing is worth it?"
Puuuffff.... Dragon's Dogma laughs, since he was the first to implement a spooky underground...
i want to try an play that game again
every zelda game sips it's coffee in silence
@@Link.ispada you keep saying things like this without providing any actual feedback
@@PickledKong64 do you really need a feedback about zelda having caves and underground areas ?
Nope, FFIV had an underground world in 1991. Many of Dragons Dogmas devs were children back then.
also the powers you gain from the wind temple is literally like summoning spirits
THE =3 TRANSITION LETS GOOOO BOYYYY
The depths reminds me more of Bionis' insides from xenoblade chronicles 1. The whole vibe and scenery
i still haven’t played a game as interactive as botw and totk. i’m pretty sure there’s closed off parts in elden ring as to where in Zelda you can literally climb and go wherever the hell you want
well yeah you literally cannot climb anything in elden ring 😂
but i wouldn’t say there are closed off parts in elden ring you can go anywhere you want in that game too. you just can’t scale a freakin mountain 💀
You didn't play elden ring did you?
Elden ring has a very different world design philosophy, it uses terrain and restrictive movement to create a world a lot more dense, you can't just run up to anything and everything you see like a robot you have to think of how to get there, every place is still explorable, just takes time to get there and makes traversal a bit more engaging by making you think and the map ends up feeling a lot larger too because of all the extra time you spend in the areas. And also leads to a lot of scenarios where you get lost in the process of getting somewhere and just end up going all kinds of different places and getting lost in the world (in a good way)
Think this approach is just better since I personally don't think climbing up rocks is very entertaining, the freedom to go anywhere is cool but id like if the way to get there wouldn't be just holding your stick that way.
@@friend4596 thank God they fixed in this game especially in the rain it was a real chore in botw but other than that the game was very entertaining
@@friend4596
TOTK offers you the freedom to tackle how you want, but the outcome can range from success to a hilarious failure. The stamina wheel also restricts you on how far you can scale a wall, and there are places you can't reach with stamina alone. You gotta have to be creative with your zonai devices (scarce at the start), make use of the environment, or find an alternative way to reach the destination through other means. It's not always "hold up." It encourages lateral thinking pretty often. I don't doubt Elden Ring doesn't encourage the same. But it's less experimental in scale to TOTK, and more of adventuring while scanning the land, and paying attention to the hints in the environment. Am I right?
imagine digging deep in Minecraft and falling into the Nether
Wait until you meet a frox....you'll be scarred lol
oh no 😂
They're pretty easy to beat. Killed one when I had only 4 hearts
@@PickledKong64 talking about jumpscare factor
@RaidenKaiser oh yeah that's definitely a highlight. I shot a light arrow only for it to illuminate him. Scary Boss and he's fun but definitely a little easy
@@PickledKong64 my first encounter was jumping into akalla chasm and having one scare shit outta me outta nowhere lol. Obsidian Frox almost gave me a heart attack haha. Doesn't help I was tired and it was 2am haha.
to be fair both games took massive inspiration from Nausicaa, a movie from ghibli studio
Bro,that voice caught me off guard 💀
my bad lmao
wish it was as good as ER's underground though, this one feels a bit like a chore
mmmmmm
Its not really necessary to go down there tho and u can farm crystalized charges just by killing bosses down there
at least in the deeproot depths there is some natural light
Spoiler
You can also find the bosses from the dungeons down in the depths for a rematch, you even get a good fuse item afterwards
Zelda Oracle of Seasons already had Subrosia as an underground land to explore. Zelda did it first.
And Final Fantasy IV did the same thing in the early 90s. Even before A Link to the Past had been released.
It doesn't matter who did it first as long as they have original elements
Now to see what Genshin Impact will steal from this
Genshin already has a huge underground though
It keeps making me want to play Elden Ring instead lol. That makes me a little sad.
Do you play on emulator?

I'm so glad the Souls games exist, they're what LoZ should have evolved to, not a fortnite sandbox.
i mean dark souls is a zelda game less adventure more fights
@@Link.ispada you clearly haven't played any if the Souls titles if you say it has "less" adventure... the journey in each game is literally the point of the story in each game. If you're talking the open-world aspect Elden Ring has everything that BoTW & ToTK has.
Dumbest opinion ive ever read

@@PickledKong64 as i always said ''remove every boos from elden ring and let's see what else you can do in game''
Since i read the comments, there is no argument here, from one side you have Elden Ring, a new title that sold over 20 million copies and raised the bar to open world games with fantastic lore, the best combat system out of every action rpg out there, and the most rewarding game you can find out.
On the other side you have a supposedly sandbox game that was inspired by Minecraft and Terraria, with mediocre sandboxing (if you have played Minecraft and Terraria you know what im talking about), with huge barren maps, with the most basic combat born out of the 80's and one of the most unrewarding games you can ever play full of technical issues, adding zelda to the title for nostalgia and being forced as a masterpiece by the media because of nintendo's incompetence.
First of all totks map is not barren at all filled with towns, monster camps, caves, sky islands, mini puzzles, camps, hideouts and more. Second of all how is it like Minecraft (haven't played terraria so idk) Minecraft is focused on building for ur space to look good or farms with bad combat and boring exploration. Third of all it barely has technical issues I know switch is not the best hardware for this game but surprisingly there is hardly anything bad about it technology wise. Fourth of all most people didn't believe the game would turn out good but most of them changed their minds after they played it maybe u should try it to before speaking trash on it (btw the game sold 10 mil copies on release date and the only incompetent thing Nintendo did was pokemon scarlet and Violet but there even in charge of developing the series gamefreak is, all Nintendo does is market it).
@@wace9174 That's what im saying, minecraft and terraria do very well what they are supposed to do, sandboxing with terraria also excelling in combat as well.
On the other hand zelda is a mash of things that end up being average, sandboxing and battle. They are both average at best because if you have played both games mentioned its noticable.
And im telling you this while i tried totk, i did a couple of shrines which was enough for me. At least if zelda had concentrated more on combat with a good rewarding system it would have been better and it would also complement the bad sandboxing.
@@bloodlinegate7 I used to think that the combat was bad too. You just got to get more creative, what the game doesn't have in swordplay, has in creative ways to approach combat.
Elden Ring (in my opinion) is the opposite, you can't approach the combat in the same way as BOTW/TOTK but it's swordplay compensates for that.
@@nikvett Nik i tried to like it because just hating on a game for the sake of hating would be stupid when it could offer you entertainment instead, but no, it never worked for me and for many others. The director of this game thinks that making it as big as possible makes it amazing.
I honestly uninstalled this game. I'm sure if I had max HP and Stam; it would be a great time waster with a wonderful story; but fucking hell the introphase is too long; the monsters can mostly one shot you; The Sky Towers just being blocked off for no reason was mega annoying; and no endless bomb to go mining and hunting with to help you build up an easy cashe of rupees and arrows! I spent ten hours playing this game screaming "I am not having fun!" which is a first for the series.
if they ever allow save data transfers, like someone already unlocked all the overworld towers, I will gladly give it another try! HOwever if there is ANY PART of Breath of the Wild that annoyed the hell out of you as a player, Tears of the Kingdom DOUBLES DOWN and spits in your face.
Sounds like a skill issue.
Yes I can certainly verify that this is indeed a skill issue.
I’ve never seen such a perfect definition of skill issue in my whole life
