  • What's better than one V8 Mustang? Two V8 Mustangs! The GT500 and the Bullitt aren't exactly close - somewhere in the region of 300hp separates them - but they are both Mustangs and the both have incredible V8 engines. All the excuse we needed to get them together...
    There's something else to ponder as well. When the Bullitt was launched, it was the most powerful Mustang offered in the UK. The GT500 is the most powerful Mustang ever, but isn't officially coming to this country. So, just what are we missing out on? Over to Dan...

    I bought a GT500 two weeks ago, and yes I daily drive it. Yes, it is totally docile at city speeds and is totally comfortable, has great visibility, a nice sound system and infotainment. And yes, the "Track" exhaust note is super deep and rumbly and sounds fantastic. Am I going to mod it? No. Have I driven it aggressively? No, not yet (I just bought it! And I'm still waiting for the dealer to install some of the aero bits). I did pass someone on a 2 lane road and at about half throttle I felt the rear wheels start to break loose.
    I think it's a super fun car and I love it.

    No flappy paddles , yes I know oldish technology but it’s muscle car not a super car, and I forgot , it’s works and doesn’t break down.

      I couldn't have said it better. I call my Bullitt "The Gentleman's Mustang" because of the de-badged look, rear spoiler delete and somewhat more mature colour scheme when compared to the bright blues and oranges. I think it will age better because of that.

      We enjoyed our50th Anniversary Bullitt greatly. Drove in modtly in SPORT suspension mode, & Track exhaust mode, w/Traction control OFF, 90% of the time. Hopefully you got EVERY option, but can do w/o Recaro seats. Nothing wrong w/ them, but for a driver, the standard Ventilated AC/heated seats, are much better choice. I could not go bk to a Non Magnetic Ride 'Litt either, after owning 1 w/.
      My GT500 is now on order, (day I sold the Litt) & yet, will not likely REPLACE my luv for the '19 'Litt. The GT500 will be a completely different car, that does some things much better, & some not so much.
      If the present used car market bubble hadn't made it so ridiculously easy for us to make a substantial profit on my '19 'Litt, Id still have it. Hated the MT82-D4 trans thou, & luv the rest of it enuff to have over looked the deficiencies of the German design, Chinese built- gearbox. An aftermarket shift linkage will certainly help some aspects thou.
      Putting a screw blower on our 'Litt w/the D4 tranny still behind the 308" mill, just isn't gonna be what we wanted, vs the 7spd dual clutch offered in our GT500 we ordered. If I could have paid to get that D/C, or just a real, Tremec/Tremec quality trans, Id hav done that & kept it.
      If I cannot find the enjoyed the Bullitt gave us during ownership of the Shelby, I will likely consider selling the GT500 & buying another low mileage 'Litt.
      Seems plenty of folks are being light on the driving of them, ( miles) & heavy on the garaging of Bullitt's. So unlike difficulties of buying a GT500 used. @ reasonable used car $$, as its not done easily in this market. Tons of 'Litts are available at present in variety of places. Vroom has 10+ on any given day.
      Only wish we could have owned them both, at same time, if we were just wishing. Putting that much money into 2 cars, is not in my logic. It is a great idea in my emotional construct, thou!
      I hope you enjoy your new purchase. We really enjoyed our Bullitt ownership. Its a great car thats truely underrated & under valued, in a normal market, & possibly in this bubbled market as well.
      A No rear wing, no, Frontal badges, or fender badges, make it even MORE , by using LESS.
      IT'S A GREAT FOOKIN CAR! 👍

      @@waynes.1585 - I actually do understand why you sold the Bullitt in this crazy market. Have you considered a Mach1? It has the Tremec manual you like and much less expensive than the GT 500.

    • @waynes.1585
      @waynes.1585 Před 2 lety

      @@rembo183 Yes, considered it. If a Screwblower/Dual Clutch Tranny, was avail in a Mock 1, Id would. U, ( well, I) COULD NOT DRIVE 760hp (offroad-on asphalt mind u) w/the manual clutched Tremec, & hav the fun the Shelby 7spd affords. I see the Mock as a Bullitt w/coolers, thus a version of added weight. A few bonus handlin trinkets u get as well on GT500, w/no additional HP to pull xtra lbs. I was merely conveying I like the Bullitt enuff to own 1 again. If puter chips become abundant enuff that we actually get our $500 deposited GT500, as agreed? Im not letting go of it without a proper paddle shifted lashing off the Legally patrolled roads. Not gonna race it per say, yet wish to flog it under warranty. I say that, yet I treated the Bullitt with way to much respect. Only blew the eng up once before 1000 miles. Thats how I negotiated the 7/100k Ext warranty. 😆. I guess gettin old makes U appreciate ur dollars earned, saved, and spent a bit more. I see these young U-tubers gleefully blow up there chit for more LIKES👍 & channel growth. Mine was shear bad luck of a inferior component failure while within parameters even a dealership download couldn't argue with.
      The only Mach 1 we have ANY desire to own before death, is a 351C, Top loader, in a '70.
      Im sure the Mach 1 is a great car for those who desire it. I really liked the discreet non badging on my 'Litt. A strange feature but a Rather enjoyable 1. Until U own 1 Ucannot appreciate this. Many- Real car guys had no idea WTF I just pulled up in, until they literally got around to the rear, & saw the Bullitt - Dog bowl badge between taillights.
      I only left it on ( blank ABS black center panels are easily purchased) cuz the wife really liked it. I did not, at all, & Id have removed everything that said Bullitt if I didn't thk it dissapoint her. She lets me hav a lot of rope, so I try to keep her happy too. The past few generations hav no idea what a 'Litt is or why it WAS BUILT, or green?...in daylight.. & darker in the shadows of the evening.
      Im tryin to figure out if that Mock Fighter Jet gray clr in 10 yrs will age well or not? Im not artistic enuff to know that forecast.
      So no. I don't want a Mach 1. Yet, every time Ive said the word "Never", to a significant point, it seems to hav manifested into reality. Proving my "never" being wrong. So Notice I did not say I would "never" own the Mock Mach 1.
      Im still going on the record today thou & say.. *I will NEVER win a 200+million dollar lottery & live to collect it !*
      To which I would own a 'Litt w/a Dual clutch & Screw, & to he// with the warranty..!!
      Glad i had it (warranty) when I blew up the Eng in my Bullitt Mustang.. for sure. 😆🤣

Only cars on the street that have beat me is the zl1 and a red eye and he didn’t pass me till my quarter-mile timer had been off for a few seconds so call that what you like.

One more secret but make sure your in a safe location. Hold the traction control button in track mode pref* for a true 15 seconds enjoy.

    I owned a GT350 from new in the US from 2016 to 2018, used daily for business and pleasure, covered 52k miles during that time, and whilst I loved the car it was not without fault.
    In that time it needed 2 new long blocks (1 @ 3.5kmls and 1 @ 32kmls) & new gearbox (@ 38kmls) all fitted under warranty, Ford dealership service was poor at best, and the engine used 1qt of oil every 500-750mls (I kept an average of 10qts in that trunk at all times) without fail for the entire time I owned it, even with the new engine rebuilds.
    The only mods/upgrades I did to my car were resonator delete and MGW shifter kit (highly recommend). Aside from using it every day the best road trips were tail of the dragon and East Coast to West Coast and back in 5 days.
    As I say, I loved that car but it always felt a bit too delicate to me and I felt like I was left high and dry with Fords customer service during my ownership.

      You're not watching the right review channels I guess. Many have stated the GT500 isn't a great daily on public roads when compared to a 2018+ Mustang GT PP1/Bullitt (both with MagneRide), Mach 1 or GT350. And the problem with the GT350 as a daily is that most of the torque/power is above 5k, so unless you're revving it up to near redline in 1st gear (6k-8k rpm's) around town it actually feels 'slower' than an 18+ GT. Now if we're talking about the ideal track Mustang, that's a different story. 😊

    Are you sure about the chassis differences between Bullitt and GT? This video is the first notice I have about differences about them... There were supposed to be just engine differences

      The Bullitt has magnaride and if your order the PP1 GT with magnaride you basically have the same suspension. Your right.

      The ratios in the Bullit handicapp it the same way that Porsche handicapped the Cayman gt4 but in the Bullits case it even worse. The ultimate all-motor mustang is the Mach. All it needs are the gt350's rear brakes and the car would be perfect.

    This isn’t a fair comparison. I own a Bullitt and the GT500 is a completely different animal. You’ll pay twice the amount for the car and for good reason. My only complaint about the GT500 is the lack of a manual transmission. I can’t imagine a car like this being anything close to a daily driver.

    Great review, but this is all slightly confusing to Americans, lol. "The car is MASSIVE." (the Mustang is a compact car in the US). "On wide roads like this..." (shows what would be a cycle path in the US, causing us to wonder what you might mean by "narrower roads"). This just demonstrates why American cars often make little sense to British people and vice versa. Conditions over here are very different.

      kind of... but we like to moan about 'big' American cars, and the trouble is its not really true... our beloved BMW and Audi are often the same size, but we've all got it in our heads that American cars are big. BMW M4, same length and less than an inch narrower - yet we dont complain about its size! Mach 1 owner here, and its a breeze to drive in the UK :)

      @DrivenFloored ya I'm so tired of European biase honestly.. yall all say the same things when saying our cars make no sense on your roads.. and my response has always been its not a problem when it's a German car, but because it's American now all of a sudden it doesn't handle its too big it wallows all over the road. It's all bullshit really. The difference between American car channels and one's in the Europe, is we can give an unbiased honest opinion as where most European channels go out of their way to bash American cars. It's quite unfortunate for you guys honestly because we ve made a lot of great cars over the years. Some are available some are not...

  • @DrivenFloored
    @DrivenFloored Před 10 měsíci +2

    All this American Mustang's are "massive" is such poor journalism... its rubbish. BMW M4 as one example, to the inch same length as this gen of mustang and the width is half, yes just half, an inch wider. Why do we keep talking about how big and unwieldy to handle they are? As a Mach 1 owner with over 12,000 miles driven in the last 14 months, I can testify, it is a wonderful thing to own and drive in the UK, on any road... but I do agree, they are night and day to a regular stock GT on handling, feel, steering and the tremec 6 speed manual in mine is a pile of fun :)

    The 2020 Shelby GT500 because it has a DCT! This mustang is the only mustang in the mustang lineup with a DCT which makes it special. I live in the US. 2020 Shelby GT500 is a 10 second car doing mid 10s at 10.5s and 10.6s at 133mph and 134mph. The carbon fiber track version has cup 2 tires, and big wing with 500lbs of downforce which is a awesome with a DCT!

    Video has potential to be awesome. Here's how to to do it. 1) no music 2) make the voice louder 3) make the engine 1000% louder. It may sound loud to the editor on a massively expensive setup, but on a plain old laptop I was at full volume and music was way too loud (I'm trying to hear a car, not a music video), voice was barely loud enough and the engine barely hinted of its potential.

      @raymonds7492 Před 2 lety +1

      @@larssonk22 The C8 is an outlier. Most manufacturers are scratching their heads at how they made a mid engine dct car with that interior for that price. It’s also an upmarket car under a normal badge. The GTR is heavy and has a bad interior but Europeans are fine with it. As well as anything else with a normal interior, as long as it isn’t American. To us performance and quality are separate things, a hellcat would be like if they put a 700hp engine in a Camry, it would still have a cheap interior.

    • @larssonk22
      @larssonk22 Před 2 lety +1

      @@raymonds7492 Disagree, it's a sign that times are changing, they have to cut costs in other ways. The GTR has the typical old Japanese interior and was slated when it was released, you can compare that now to the more recent Nissan models or it's Japanese rival brands. Everyone is building nicer interiors, because to the masses the appearance will be more important than how quickly it gets off the line at the traffic lights. The Mustang is now competing with the European muscles cars built by Mercedes and BMW hence why I brought up the question how does it compare to the M2. Corvette will be competing against the likes of Porsche, BMW and Mercedes

    • @raymonds7492
      @raymonds7492 Před 2 lety +1

      @@larssonk22 Europe doesn’t make muscle cars and neither does America with the exception of the challenger. Again those European cars are luxury cars. The mustang is still a normal car no matter the power, Europeans lack this context. You have to remember that the base mustang was always a super cheap rental car so the performance versions are still based on a car that is around the price of an mx5.

  • @jamesmin2837
    @jamesmin2837 Před 2 lety

    This guy has no idea what he's talking about. Bullitt is a "base" Mustang GT, with performance pack. Only difference is that it has intake and throttle body from GT350, and has a slightly louder exhaust. That's it from a mechanical difference. Same suspension and even tires. And the engine is not lazy, it is just mated to a long geared manual. Try the 10speed, it revs up almost instantly. It's really annoying when revewiers don't have a clue and start making comparisons against cars they never driven.

There's a track oriented version GT500 with cup 2 tires and a big wing with 500lbs of downforce.
