    @17:00 totally agree with this statement. I tweaked my knee and decided to slow my runup down. More of a walk up now. I just had my farthest throw ever at 440 ft when i was consistently throwing 330-370. Could randomly hit 400 here and there but the slower approach has me feeling more loaded with the shot.

    I've been throwing some MVP since their first disc, the Ion came out. Loved it and have been putting with it since, but it was the only MVP in my bag. The Wave changed that. Guaranteed to add distance for noodle armed throwers like me. I was throwing a Surge SS as my main driver before I picked up a few Waves to try out. Instant noticeable added distance. My bag slowly changed to all MVP as I tried different molds. The Volt is another VERY good disc, that replaced my Stalkers. The Theory is a super straight flying mid, although it's unfortunately OOP.

    I’ve always heard that your max distance divided by 30 is a rough ballpark for the highest speed disc you can throw, and throwing faster discs won’t increase your distance.
    For example, someone throwing 300’ should cap their speed at 10.
    Definitely relates to what you were saying about faster discs going further as long as you have the arm speed to throw them, I’m just wondering how accurate the max/30 rule of thumb is

    • @springysloth1186
      @springysloth1186 Před 2 lety

      I’ve never heard this before, but it applies to my game very well. I think it is a good rule for mediocre to advanced players, but with pros throwing 600+ feet it doesn’t apply as much. That would call for a 20+ speed disc. Thanks for the information though, I’ll definitely use this rule!

Then add more manufacturers per the comparison.

    I’ve tried similar discs across many brands and I personally like the MVP gyro bc it seems to feel like you don’t need to put as much into the disc to get a similar flight to other brands. They also seem to want to glide further or stay in the air longer. Maybe the gyro puts more weight at the rim for the balance of the disc therefore making it naturally have more rotations making it stay up in the air longer.

  • @owenb.3831
    @owenb.3831 Před 2 lety

    I’m a college baseball player and the mechanics of throwing a disc and ball are somewhat similar. When you have a fast run up, you typically rush and don’t create much separation between your hips and shoulders. Which a slower run up, you will usually be more controlled and be able to create more separation. When you go fast you end up throwing your timing off but if you ever figure out how to time your movements better the fast run up will go faster but it will take time to learn.

    • @owenb.3831
      @owenb.3831 Před 2 lety

      An example could be Simon lizottes 360 spin throw. If I went and did that it would go 200 feet but he has learned how he needs to time it and it allows him to create a ridiculous amount of stretch and separation and generate greater speed than a normal throw.

      Leaning your body controls angles. As in more hyzer or anhyzer. That's not some kind of myth. That's technique actually used.

      Sharp already aswers leaning your body. Guys at DD tested light disc vs max weight disc. With low arm speed light goes farther, but with fast arm speed max weight goes farther.

      @@kimmomatikainen1843 might at well do more tests for science and see if it's repeatable.

      I meant leaning body mid flight and yelling at the disc to sit, go, turn etc…

    can you guys make a disc that has a dimpled surface like a golf ball and see if that will fly farther or cut through the wind better?

    Running up fast, you are shortening your pull back to keep up with your body. Your power comes mostly from the snap when pulling the disc forward. When you run up fast, you also aren't utilizing the power in your legs and in turn actually need to slow down when releasing the disc. It's all about finding the happy medium.
