    Did anyone else have an issue with no file appearing after hitting denoise? I am trying to denoise a test frame using an exr file with all the same render settings as the video but after clicking denoise no new file appears, and my old one is unaffected. Any solution would be appreciated!

    There is a lot of conflicting information on "Output Denoising AOVs". The Arnold manual says that checkmarking the box "Output Denoising Aovs" is all that is needed. Other users claim that is not enough, and that all aovs need a second output driver set to "variance"
    I spent about a month figure it out and I am still left with doubts... Do you know the truth? HELP, thank you.

    • @GlenGramling
      @GlenGramling Před 9 měsíci +1

      It was acting like it denoised the image, and outputting with no errors but the result was not denoised. I even tried it through the command line with the same result. Eventually through trial and error and much frustration I got it to work by adding an RGBA AOV and adding a variance filter to it. It was sort of a hail marry but it worked! Thanks for the response! @@sarkamari

      Please note that in Maya 2023 or higher imager_noice does not support temporal denoising (required for denoising an animation). Also, It is recommended to add imagers before starting an IPR session. Denoiser imagers should be applied before post-processing imagers if the post-processing is introducing new features in the image (ex: bloom). You should apply the imager_light_mixer before any denoiser imagers, as light AOVs won't necessarily be denoised by the denoiser. For single frame simply run Arnold Denoiser: help.autodesk.com/view/ARNOL/ENU/?guid=arnold_for_maya_utils_am_Arnold_Denoiser_html

    Very very usefull. New witth Maya and some astonished, that it obviously does not like GPU Renders IMO. Camera AA screwing up makes me mad. And Denoising always looked crasy bad to me. But this Tutorial is really worth every Minute to optimize Denoising, so that it looks ok. Thank you for this. Heard Autodesk has an IRAY Render Plug in too. But only on additional Costs ;-(

    The real need I have for increasing speed is for animations or sequence. Is it possible to use the Arnolds new denoiser for doing animations? The old one (using Maya 2019 sp3) with the default Arnold that ships with it. The version I have is not stable for doing animations. It creates noise between frames.

    • @sarkamari

    Yet another example of Maya being a complete piece of trash and me scratching my head bald wondering how this pile of fecal matter is industry standard. It doesn´t work. And as usual here, the explanation seems to be "just cause". I did everything right, step by step, and when I hit denoise it gives me an error saying "error in line 10" and I´m just supposed to sppend 3 hours of my remaining 12 until delivery time fighting Maya until it magically fixes itself. I guess I´m spending my limited time complaining in a youtube comment section, might as well use it to fix it and then unal1ve myself.
