This is supposed to represent the Coch Y Bonndu beetle which can be found on many of the Welsh and Scottish waters. That said this is a useful general terrestrial pattern. Anywhere there are tree lined banks or undergrowth there is a good chance that a lot of food is blown from the bank onto the surface of the water. Once the bug is there it is an easy meal for a patrolling trout.

Best version yet. That foam is the game changer. Up to this I have used a strip of elastic band plus brown marker for the back with peacock herl body and head. I will now use that foam for these along with corixa and other aquatic beetles. On your next trip to the dog will you be teaming up with Rhys and will you as a follow on from your first time there have a return match with Rhys on Rutland? Could be the beginning of The Welsh Rarebit Cup 😂😂

@@lindsayiflyfish If you both have a matching dates and times it could still happen. Both of you gel well together in approach of fishing, style and how your vlogs are put together. If and when be on either of your favourite waters. Your combination of humour would result in another epic vlog for both channels.
I've been tying beetles with brown foam, and using the small chenile or peacock herl,with a ginger cock hackle , these sit in the surface film and have worked a treat at Watch water reservoir down the Lammermuir hills. I am waiting for this peacock foam to get into stock so that I can try it ,they also do a kind on coppery brown as well, which might be worth a try. Thanks again for your tutorial 👍👌
