Mische Technique: How I Draw in a Painting

  • This is how I begin my paintings almost always. I use a projector to get the large forms in place and then draw in all of the details looking at my reference images either on my iPad or from a same size print out taped next to where I am drawing.

    Do you recommend investing in an iPad?
    Anytime i try using a photo reference it always turns out blurry when i print it out

      @@Zumpage if I print out an image, i usually get the cheapest large format color printer option from FedEx and yeah, then it has to be a massive file to be crisp enough. That is the iPad advantage. You can zoom in and really get as little or as much detail on a section as you’d like (with a high enough res photo of course). I’ve really loved mine and I’ve been using one for probably well over a decade at this point. Personally, I think it’s worth it if you use a lot of references like I do
