  • While our society attempts to redefine marriage and deny that God created us male and female for His glory, Christians are called to hold marriage in honor (Heb. 13:4). In this message, Dr. Sinclair Ferguson considers how the Bible provides instruction for both husbands and wives to pursue their callings before the Lord so that marriages and families might glorify Him and shine as lights in a dark world.

    That message on marriage was a real blessing to my soul. I am so thankful for my wife of 21+ years and I am so glad God provided my wife when I asked Him to pick her out for me and to bring us together in His timing. God has been so good and faithful to us as husband and wife. I look forward to sharing this message with my wife as well.

    The quote near the 41 minute mark: “That I may come nearer to her, draw me nearer to Thee than to her. That I may know her, make me to know Thee more than her. That I may love her with the perfect love of a perfectly whole heart, cause me to love thee more than her, and best of all.” William Henry Temple Gairdner

    That was one of the most powerful and beautiful sermons I’ve listened too. I’ve never thought of how much of an example Christian marriage is in the world. The way he put it was inspired. God bless Dr. Ferguson. That was so moving.

    34:47 Dismissing professional marriage counselors as “gurus in their 30’s” who “arrogantly project” onto their clients is itself shockingly arrogant. There is nothing inherently unbiblical about behavioral science or expert knowledge, and there is nothing inherently admirable about a long marriage. I suppose by your rationale, we’d have no need of young educated pastors so long as there are old people in the church who have believed for many years.

    • @buckt53
      @buckt53 Před 19 dny +1

      I think if you look back at the church and what the body of Christ should truly look like you would realize the “professional marriage counsel” role should be filled by members in the church whether it be church leadership or other members. The word of God and those in Christ are enough.
