Thanks for watching!
That's the highest lake in England, not the UK. The highest lake (Loch as we call them) is in the Cairngorms.👍
What’s height from a sea level?
@@sg-or6wb it's 3041 ft above sea level. It's called Loch Etchachan.
Lochan Buidhe.....Monadha Ruadha sic
I've swam in Loch Etchachan! Loch Avon too, on the same trip.
Its not a Lake its a tarn
When townies go to the countryside😂😂
And they always wear new balance trainers 🤔
I thought the same
spot on. Going upto Red Tarn from Grasmere is a really doable walk considering it's altitude. "looks like it should be here" ...its in a literal bowl lol
When people enjoy going on walks in the country 🤬🤬🤬
@@ee-pd6oq half people
Our highest altitude lake in the UK is based in Scotland and is called Loch Etchachan. It is a remote freshwater lake (or loch as they're known in Scotland) set deep within the central Cairngorms plateau. It is the highest water body of its size in the UK, the surface being 927 metres (3,041 ft) above sea level.
We also have a loch halfway up Ben Nevis 😊
Yeah thats like similar height than helvellyn (the snow capped mountain referenced in the video)
I've swum in Lake District tarns on HOT days, even though the water was still freezing! But on a sunny,22C/72F or higher air temp,it's quite refreshing & fun!
There are quite a few lakes higher than this in the UK.
Sorry guys but this isn't quite correct. That's the highest lake in England. The highest lake in the UK is lake Etchachan in Scotland.
Erm, sorry but this is incorrect. That's a tarn and not a lake.
@@Woodenteapot82 A Tarn is a Norse word for a lake upon a mountain, meaning every Tarn is a lake but not every Lake is a Tarn. It's official name is "Loch" Etchachan and since "Loch" is the Scottish word for "Lake", Etchachan absolutely qualifies as a lake, meaning my original comment was not incorrect.
Not even the highest lake in England 🤣🤣
@@McKlunkers a lake is a lake, a tarn a tarn, a pond a pond and a puddle is a puddle. Meaning my original comment is correct.
@@Woodenteapot82 No, it wasn't. You stated that I was incorrect in calling Loch Etchachan a lake because it is also known as a Tarn. A Tarn is a type of Lake, meaning I was not incorrect. It's name isn't Tarn Etchachan, it's Loch Etchachan, which again is the Scottish word for lake so it even has lake in it's name. What you claim is bit like saying a child is not a human, just because we use the word 'Child' to differentiate between an adult and an infant human. All of that being said, the fact that this is the second time I'm explaining this and you still insist I'm incorrect, even In the face of irrefutable evidence, suggests to me that you are simply the type of person who cannot admit when they are wrong, even when doing so makes them look rather silly.
That’s a tarn not a lake
Never, and I mean never, go too far in to very cold water if you’re not conditioned as your muscles can seize and cause drowning. Seriously guys, if you can’t feel your feet after a foot then how you gonna be after a yard
Pretty fine, it turns out😂
There's ones much higher than this in the UK. It might be the highest in England but Scotland has lochs at much higher peaks
No, this is the highest lake in England, not the UK.
Thats hellvelyn ive been up it. The ridge is spectacular and ive also swan in the red tann
Do you mean highest one called a ‘lake’? There are lochs 600m higher than this
the lake is over 750 meters high, there isn’t even any land 600 meters higher than that in the uk
@@ralphgoose Loch Coire an Lochain lies at 927m above sea level
I swam there yesterday because of your video
I've actually been here. Is it in coniston? I cant remember exactly.
I believe its Coniston Old Man - he never actually said so in the video, but I recognised the rocks?
I swam there 35 years ago. Beautiful ❤
You should try swimming in the Drachensee in Austria, its phenomenal
Is it cold?
@@LiveTheDash yeah pretty much but its the most stunning location I've seen in the Alps and the Seebensee down below is not a lot less beautiful. In that one you can sometimes actually swim without freezing :)
Constructive criticism
You need to change the title and you need to re-edit the short so that you admit that you made a mistake and we're actually taking a dip in the highest lake in England.
When making such videos about travel with fun filled facts you really need to make sure that what you are saying is actually correct.
You seem a delightful couple and I wish you well
Bwahahaha. Red Tarn is 528m, there are thousands of lochs and lochans in Scotland higher than that. Loch Etchachan in the Cairngorms is over 900.
3041 ft.
Love the “ walking “ trainers 😂!!
They are called tarns-it’s in the name ;)
I mean I guess it's the highest with the name "lake" but the highest body of water I've found is loch coire an lochain, at 997m, near Ben Macdui. Etchachans been mentioned by others, but that's only at 927m
I am on holiday in Lake district right now😄😄
Highest lake in England!!
School trip vibes
Wow
Man those tarns are freezing in summer!
I just love you two 😍👍
There’s a nice one up cader idris in Wales.
No way!!! I was there right around you were there - my family and I went up helvellyn
Can you swim at the lowest point of the lowest lake? For like an hour...
It could be a hot summer day; the tarn will still be baltic 😂
Always nice to see couples wearing the same clothes. Not at all like Team Dork.
I’m in the Lake District right now
Is that at Helvellyn
Go back to Red Tarn in September after it’s had the summer to warm up, have swam it a few times at that time of year 😂
Craghoppers noted. Only the best.
Yehhhh baby
Respect!
Fair play to you... 😊
Is a Tarn a lake then ?
Yes, it’s a lake in a mountain
Snow capped mountain. It was striding edge
Ive been in there thats near to keswick right its not that bad i took a quick dip in it when i was walking past it to cool down i think the full walk i took that day was 7 -9 hours started at the white pub ended in kewick near the school
As someone from the Lake District, please wear a wetsuit when swimming in our lakes, unless it’s really warm water in the summer. The lakes can get very cold.
In the uk i am british and that is loch lake in scotland near the high lands and as u know there may be the "lochness monster"
This is in the lake district in the North of England, not Scotland. I live there
Oh ok
The utter lack of trees is depressing.
Nice
Thanks for watching! Have you been to this part of the world before?
This motivates me to swim in lake superior!
Yo walking for 30 mins in lake district ain't nothing. My walk to school is more than that😂
This hike is going to take 2 hours...
Yeah, only cos you keeping running forward and back for the bloody camera haha
Hahah this is toooo true 😂😂😂
I've been there!
Subtext: how to upset everyone in Scotland
Been there done that and had exactly the same reaction 😂
I live there 😮
Altitude : 718 meters. And you call this « mountain » 😂
Nowhere in UK is over a mile above sea level. In fact, no where in England is over 1km above sea level (parts of Scotland are). Here, in the vale of York, many places are less than 100ft above sea level (usually a lot less)
Considering the lake district was created by a glacier, yeah and 718 meters is 2355 feet and jets are considering flying lower than the peaks, actually there so good pictures of F15z, F35s, C130s from the top down view and they where taken from the lake district peaks and I would like to point out from there it's about an hours drive to the coast
Actually we call it a fell. And it's not a lake, it's a tarn. And it's not the highest lake in the UK, that's in Scotland
@@Mike-gd5mj byt the same logic, that's a loch
'Fell': from Old Norse fjall, fell ‘hill’
Try highest lake of the himalyas...
I have climbed up striding edge and I’m 10
These Brits mean England. Scotland doesn’t have lakes, apart from one, we have lochs. So maybe these Englanders are right.
You Win Brownie points from me. Big B*lls mate, even if they are Blue.
'Nuts' seems to be the Word.
Well Done.
Kim in Oz. 😎
Can u go to the coldest place in Europe
I live in Lake District
Can you swim at the highest lake in Ireland?
Where is it?
@@LiveTheDash I think it would be towards Sligo maybe near down Patrick
@@LiveTheDash On Carrauntoohil at the bottom Brother O'Sheas Gulley
@@LiveTheDashIreland
Let's see the highest in the UK first, because it isn't this one!
10/10 for showing your ignorance, guys.
Nice sponsorship! Craghoppers make solid gear
I'm in the lakes
you should go to worlds 2 heist lake.Lake Sevan in Armenia.
This is how you become a statistic
Its not a "lake" its a tarn, the lake district has waters (rydal water, ullswater) meres (windermere, grasmere) and tarns, red tarn. there's one lake, lake basenthwaite near keswick
Is this in wasdale??
Lake District
Red tarn is a tarn, not a lake
That is a tarn, high altitude lakes are called 'tarns'
Were those dead sheep still in there?
I been there
Now do the lowest
The question is, do you want to swim in it?
Our highest lake in Canada is Chilko Lake. I’ve never swam it.
Looks like a big puddle
Why does this guy look so much like Michael Palin
swim in the highest lake in the world
never seen an ordnance survey map?
That's mad I walked past that earlier
They mean England! They got nuttin!
Bruh they used the fact that lakes in scotland are called lochs to avoid driving far
Ive walked on it
This is why the mountain rescue is still needed in the Uk. Plonkers
Not to scare you but ppl have dies by falling from the top of that then into the lake and never been found
I live in Cumbria
Sharks.... 😲
You can swim in any lake you want 😂 just be ready to deal with consequences if you aren’t allowed to.
Try highest lake of himalyas......
Wasent a scene of Harry Potter filmed there ?
Lakes in North Wales at 3000ft
Are they bloody trainers on your feet, fell climbing in trainers ain’t a great idea
Grizzly gazz did it ,go on son.😂
Its not the highest Tarn in England as its either Foxes Tarn or Broad Cragg Tarn both at 880 meters asl
wim hoff method next time
White trainers in the high lands?
Was going to comment that lol. So guys n girls, it's nice to be adventurous but don't, just don't wear that. At least get some profile on those soles and preferably a shoe that protects your ankles. Unless you really want that helicopter ride back to a hospital.
Just wear proper shoes for the occasion. There are way too many accidents just because of this simple thing.
Looks more like a pond
I ve been😂
Wouldn't that be a tarn?
You know it makes sense. RIGHTS.
England and the UK are two different things.
What 💀, england is a country in the uk
