    Blake, I see things on your lessons that I never considered. Thanks for that.

    Great PS tutorial! I use the rulers along the top/side of the screen quite often but have never used the ruler 'tool' as such - I always just tried to balance visually so now I have a new tool to play with. Thanks for all you share Blake - much appreciated.

    Nice tutorial. This is a subtle thing, but the spherical lights at the bottom right of the image are throwing off the balance a little as well. We would have to either remove it or add more lights on the other side to balance it out.

    Hi Blake - you've mentioned a number of times, in a lot of your color videos, that you are a painter as well - can you share a site or some images of your work - I'm a watercolor painter and would to see how your color education illustrates itself in your paintings. Thanks Blake - :o)

      Hey Joseph. I was classically trained in painting in my youth, then went to college for Printmaking and Sculpture. After college I picked up painting again and then went to photography. Honestly, I was never really happy with my painting style and bounced around a LOT from idea to idea and style to style. I don't look at much of it as professional work, more abstract and hobby work that led me to using that color theory knowledge in photography. As a typical artist, most of that work is locked up and sealed away ;)
      I did do a live event for my f64 Elite members where I shared all of my past work with them. It is in the archive of live events for elite members only. It's not something I really want to share with everyone out there TBH.

      @@f64Academy I understand - I was wondering because of my studies with David Hockney and his use of color as an artist using computers and computer programs to express their vision. Thanks again Blake. J

    Can we assume that you straightened this image, and/or used the Transform tools in ACR or LrC before you "balanced" it?

    • @f64Academy
      @f64Academy  Před 6 měsíci

      I didn't in this case, I actually had that one pretty dialed in, in camera. However, I would still do all that first before the balancing act.

    Blake, did you use generative expand on this image? The reason I ask is that at 5:53, for instance, there is a distinct blurriness on the rightmost 20-ish pixels. I'm just curious. Even if you did or didn't it's a great lesson on symmetry and how to check and achieve that.

    • @f64Academy
      @f64Academy  Před 6 měsíci

      I did! Good eye! I didn't need to, but the original image was unbalanced but only by a little bit. I felt people would throw me under the bus for being too picky, so I used Gen expand to exaggerate it. I was quite shocked by how close I had it in camera. 🤣🤣🤣

      Good call my friend. It really helped to see an image that was that far off balance but looked "ok" to start. @@f64Academy

    Seems like more an exercise in symmetry not "balance" (from an art composition stand point)

      the symmetry creates a balanced image...
