Jan the drone shots with the hoar frost makes me realize why winter can be a great season in it’s own. Sure it brings on some extra challenges and at times can down right suck but I think it makes us appreciate the other three seasons more as well. The new feed mill is looking great and a few months from now you will look back and wonder how you got by without it for so long. Your Dad must smile every time he sees it in operation. Stay safe and thanks for another great video.

Thanks for the feeding tutorial. The feed mill set up will give your farm a lot more flexibility of when and what grains you purchase and grind a wider variety of grains as market prices give you options.

The new feed mill seems to work well, but I am a little concerned about the height of the augers. If serious snow falls, it must first be cleared away, otherwise the feed wagon is simply too high and can be damaged.

Ah, I thought you had filmed a new intro for your videos with your drone work today! The Winter Wonderland aerial views were great! I love how the red in your Canadian flag on top of the grain leg contrast with the white and grey colors of the season. We're still mowing the lawns here in South Louisiana! Do your cows produce higher or lower butter fat content during the extreme cold? How are your Ukrainian hired hands doing these days? I haven't seen them in any videos lately. I know it must be rough on them to be so far from home right now.

I used to feed 300 cows plus ys here in the UK with a twin auger, double axle diet feeder, but put the corn etc as you call it, we call them straights, sugar beet, distillers, soya etc in with out the PTO on, as it weighed a lot better with no movement. Straights are so ££ it made sense, but adding the forages last didn't affect the mixing of everything if you let it mix 10 mins- in that 10 mins, there's always something to do, fetch some bales closer to a yard or move a pallet of mins to use etc

Interesting how one can learn new ideas, such as how keeping heat blowing against the overhead door, is a negative thing after numerous years of using it, and obviously, after recommendations. Very interesting indeed!
It being in the mid-minus 20s in the middle of November is frightening, however! I'm in South Western Ontario and it hasn't been that cold here since just this past week and now it's getting freezing cold, although they "claim" that it only "feels" like minus mid-teens and I do not believe that but I also promised to plow snow this winter again... UGH!!!

As seen at 0:24, only corrals 1, (to the right) 8 and 9, (to the left) have shelter for their young stock. The rest of the corrals just have windbreaks. That being said, once manure starts to mix with the straw, it will create natural heat. (As it basically becomes compost)

Question…. So my buddy grew up with in Sask. around warman/martinsville area, they had a smaller dairy, hundred or so head, I spent a lot of time there and when feeding we filled the mixer that was in a separate room indoors and it auto filled the feed for the cows along the head locks…. Always kept the barn warm because never opened big doors multiple times a day.. just curious why I don’t see that set up on any of the CZcams dairy farmers. Even the manure had converter slats that drug all the pies from a 1-2 foot sections behind each stall…. And this was late 90’s early 2000’s
