As a Hull City fan I really didn't mind seeing what Brown did considering we were 4-0 down at half time and he had enough respect for the players in a sense that he thought that was an embarassing scoreline that was beneath our level at the time. I know someones going to say if he respected the players he wouldn't have done it but sometimes football has to have some ego-breaking and tough talks. Wish our owner didn't run our club into the ground having watched us climb out of Division 3 back in the day I'm hoping we can do it again soon.

I think it was performative by Phil Brown. All that gesticulating. He was trying to show the supporters it was the players’ fault, not his.
Players can see right through that, and he lost the dressing room in that moment (figuratively and literally, lol).
Hull were actually doing pretty well I remember, but barely got a point for the rest of the season, and only just avoided relegation.
And Phil Brown’s career never recovered. I think even he would admit now it was a mistake.
