I really appreciate your videos. I have learned more from you than years of in person lessons. You inspire me to never give up.

Where in our ranges is the best place to start this exercise? As an alto/contralto, your demo ends up pretty high for me. Is there an advantage/disadvantage to starting with a higher or lower note? Thank you - you’re wonderful!

Keeping chord closure is difficult. I sound so breathy.

Diaphragmatic breathing is key. One habit I picked up that helps, and I've never heard anyone else say, is to exhale completely before inhaling.

Hi Madeline! My middle voice started acting like it (alone) has laryngitis, any tips? It’s been 2 weeks now and I’m trying to record.

Hi Madeleine, thks so much for your videos. Question : Especially while going up, there is this spot in the middle where I hear my voice sort of « shifts gear », and while going down sometimes it makes me skip/drop a few notes on the slide. Why ? How can I smooth the ascent (to not hear the « gear shift») and prevent the notes skipping on the descent... ?Just by practicing slowly and softly where it shifts gear until I can't hear it anymore? Thank you so much! Sylvie, from Québec :)

That sounds like the break where your main/chest range meets your falsetto. You can practice this by just sliding up and down and focusing on trying to make that switch sound effortless and conscious!
