15-Minute Warmup for Worship Team Singers

- In this video, Worship Vocalist coach Charmaine Brown takes you through a set of vocal warmup exercises to get your voice ready to sing worship songs!
This warmup will be especially useful if you’re warming up together as a group before a worship rehearsal or service because it covers both male & female ranges and warms up the resonators you will need for singing worship songs with power, ease and a contemporary-sounding tone! (PS - if you haven’t started doing group warmups together yet, now is a great time to start!)
Or if you’re on your own and want a quick warmup to use before your personal practice time or to warm up your voice before an evening service-this will work well!
It’s short and sweet (15 minutes!), so you might be tempted to use it as your Sunday morning pre-worship-leading warmup… but don’t! In the early morning, your voice needs a longer, slower warmup in order to function most efficiently, so make sure to use the free Worship Vocalist Sunday Morning Warmup that you’ll find at worshipvocalist.com/freewarmup!
Make sure to share this with all your singer friends to get them warming up their voices!

I was so excited to find this video that I didn't even look at the description for a few weeks. I just looked today and noticed the free warmup with video. Charmaine, you have a beautiful voice! I love that you want us to discover ours. I decided to sow into the Kingdom of God by joining the Worship Vocalist community today. Hallelujah! Thank you.
Hey! Wow awesome! Thanks for joining the community!
Thank you for the warm up and all your tutorials❤❤❤. Could you please do a tutorial of "I've Witnessed it" by Passion, Melodie Malone. Please, please!!!!❤❤❤❤
Hey! Perhaps in the future!
@@worshipvocalist that's funny ... I was just rehearsing "I've Witnessed It" before I watched this video!!! LOL!!!
praise God for this video, i cried a lot, almost give up, everytime i will audition the enemy give me sore throat but this time he tried but i think papa GOD really wanted me to do it, i dont know anything about proper training all i know is that people like when im singing in karaoke so...this time i want to serve the LORD with the voice he gave me...hope ul pray for me guys..thank u again!!
Amen! The enemy comes to steal kill and destroy but Jesus came to bring life and life more abundantly! John 10:10
@@worshipvocalistthnk u so much came back on this because i passed the audition!praise God!now i need to binge watch all ur videos!
I love this! How often should I as a worship leader do this throughout the week?
I would suggest 5-6 times per week, or every time before you sing songs!
❤️❤️❤️🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Glad you're enjoying the warmup!
You should do a tutorial on Praise Opens Prison Doors by CAIN!! ❤
Thanks for the suggestion!
I’m a girl contralto so I felt funny when it was said guys and there I was. I liked it although😊
Haha! I hear ya! Sing wherever feels best for you!
Same here haha
Always leaning
👍
Thank you for the video, I have a question, is it okay to sing after the warmup ?
Yes you can sing songs after the warmup and your voice should feel great!
This is great! The only thing I'd say is that what you are calling "scales" are actually arpeggios or so I've been told haha
I hear ya! Scales is just an easier name to apply to any exercise.
@Worship Vocalist right I'm just trying to eliminate confusion!
@@petefeltmanAs a pianist, that was the first thing that crossed my mind; why they’re called scales.
So, when I sing in the higher range, my voice changes to what feels like a falsetto. Is this normal?
Yes - that's a normal thing that happens for the voice - however, with training, we can achieve a powerful, seamless tone throughout our range (even in the high notes)!
Can someone help me with how to hold the lip vibration:I’m losing it halfway through.
It helps to hold the cheeks with your fingers, and also make sure to let out your breath slow and steady to keep the lips buzzing. Keep practicing - it often comes with time!
I am hoarse in the mornings due to Gerd. Take meds. At times, I am ok. I drink room temp water. What else can I do? Warm ups don't seem to make a difference
Sorry to hear of the challenges! Definitely make sure you’re not eating anything for several hours before bed, and sleep with your head propped up to lessen the reflux. Unfortunately it has a huge impact on the voice, so that will be the most important thing to try to get rid of! Try finding a good naturopath to help!
Pleease teach us how to sing "All About Jesus" by Taya Gaukrodger?
Pleeaaaasee! I Luv this song, and I want to learn how to sing efficiently!
Thanks for the request! Perhaps in the future!
This is a nice long warm up that covers so many areas.
However, disagree on Sunday morning...I understand where you come from, but many have different worship days... Sunday is a generalization
I hear you! It absolutely is a generalization. The warmup can be used any day of the week! :)
Is green tea okay for my voice?
Yes, because green tea is healthy for the body, which brings health benefits to the voice! However, sometimes a person’s voice reacts to caffeine, in which case stay away from it.
@@worshipvocalistThanks
How do I join?
Hey! If you'd like to become a Worship Vocalist member and get access to the courses, go to www.worshipvocalist.com!
Can I have you on WhatsApp? I'd need a few months vocal training for the Nigerian Idol.
I've got to be prepared, ma'am.
The higher nays for females are hard to do. I guess I need more strengthening.
Yes they will become easier once your higher range is strengthened!
I'm 20 years old, why's my voice always cracked?
It sounds like your voice just needs developing - warmups and vocal workouts will be your best friend!
Wow the lip rolls are hard to do!
Keep at it and you’ll get it!
How to lip roll😅
If you have trouble with the lip roll, you can trill your tongue instead!
@@worshipvocalistAwesome! I really struggle with lip rolls, but tongue trills are very easy for me.
I love this but I just wish you talk less in between
I hear you! My goal is to help singers do the exercises as correctly as possible, which is why I explain them!
