You have an incredibly challenging work environment, Sorin! The mic you normally use blocks out the background noise for us. But this time, we could hear what you face daily. You have to deal with so much noise and distraction every day. And you have so little space to work on the things. All this, and you're still able to work so efficiently and teach us along the way. Wow! You are a really talented and patient teacher. I'm sure the mic will be sorted in future vids. Thanks again for all your efforts!

Hey we all have those days of forgetting stuff, you are not the only one :-).
You still have a bit of a cold, you are not 100% yet.
You may want to discribe the power channeling mosfets as "Gates", open or closed gates, for people that dont understand.
Usually if the mosfet has a P junction, then the gate voltage is lower than the drain to switch on, and a N junction gate is higher than the drain, as far as i can remember, but mosfets are something i didnt learn much about lol.
    i could be wrong LOL

    • @lesleymunro4964
      @lesleymunro4964 Před 6 lety

Actually It's the difference beween the gate and source (Vgs) which turns on a MOSFET. N channel, the voltage is positive beween the gate and source, P channel it is negative. This doesn't mean you need a negative voltage on the gate, only negative in relation to the source. In that circuit, the source is connected to 19V, the drain is the output to the rest of the laptop, and the gate would get pulled low to turn it on. I found a quick tutorial here which might make sense of it. www.baldengineer.com/p-channel-mosfet-tutorial-with-only-positive-voltages.html

Some charging ports can become damaged through constant wear. I have found on some DC/IN connectors that the central pin & the side rails can sometimes become loose or bent enough to not sustain a proper connection with the adapter end.

To see the voltages you have to press the "Measure" button and make sure you have your channel set to DC and your prove attenuation is the same as configured on the scope. Also press "AutoSet", because sometimes if the signal is too low, it can't read the correct voltage.
On the computer i don't know if this option is possible.
For this youtube channel you could have bought one of those USB scopes, they are cheap and would work great for you.

Sorin, I see most of your repair videos are about power transistors break open. But I have a Toshiba Satellite P105 with Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 running Windows XP (I bought it in 2006 new) has no power a week ago. I checked the AC adapter to be okay with 15.6V output. I checked the power jack connections on the motherboard to no voltage at all. I then unplugged the power jack from the motherboard and got 15.6V with AC adapter plugged in on the power jack. So my AC adapter is okay and my DC-IN power jack is okay. I then checked the DC-IN connections on the motherboard, the positive input and negative input pins are shorted with 620 Ohms. It's not constant, but swing from 620 Ohms to 10 Ohms back and forth. So how do I go about for this type of power input short? Thanks

for those schematics you are asking for:
This is a software for board viewing: boardviewer.net/
and here you can find a lot of schematics for free: sualaptop365.edu.vn/
    you just have to register.
Here you have a pdf: kythuatphancung.vn/uploads/download/823c2_Compal_LA-7912P.pdf (but i believe this is an old model, not quite sure)

this specific model laptop i did find there is a possible fix for an issue that mimics the issue with no power seen in this video ..... i had the exact issue where was repairing it for a friend, he then asked me to install a game, so i did..... 7 minutes into testing the game the laptop just turned off, none of the front lights were turning on, it seemed dead, tried everything removing power and the battery but still no life..... started to stripped the keyboard to reveal the CMOS battery, i removed the CMOS battery, i plugged the charger in.... i went to the toilet and came back and the front lights came on, i pressed the power button and it powered on..... i think either i reset bios or i rained all remaining power from the laptop..... hope this helps someone as well with these crappy Toshiba c660 laptops and their not powering up issue..
