Yamaha MT-07 FZ-07 De Cat Standard Exhaust Pipe Mod

- I bought a spare MT-07 exhaust for £35 to DE-CAT it, the first video clip shows the stock pipe with the CAT in place, the second and third clips are with the CAT removed, my mate Greg welded it back together. This was only filmed on a cheap camera phone, the sound is improved but not too noisy, there is a better growl to it and on the over run I have been told it sounds like a Ducati. Much cheaper than some of the aftermarket alternatives and not too noisy.
Now you let the Cat out of the bag.
Def sounds better, will more than likely follow you and soloseff on that, is it just that one honeycomb piece that you took off? Or was there more? Great job btw
Hi, just one cat in there, glad you found it useful
Hi... very good mod.
One question: what should i use to weld back the exhaust? Mig is ok?
Thanks
Mig will be fine, if you use stainless wire it will not rust, or use steel an paint over it
chipchapchopreturns i have ss wire. Thanks
From the video it's really hard to tell the difference, can you tell me if it sounds any better or louder? Any audible backfires decelerating? :p
I don't want a really loud exhaust just better airflow and maybe a little nicer sound, also thinking about removing the cathalitic converter
no backfires, deeper sound, people look up and see me coming, about 15% louder, deeper on the overrun, but not like aftermarket pipe
@@chipchapchopreturns thanks
Whats is change ? I cant understand.
Neat job but it doesn't sound very meaty afterwards... Probably louder (without the cat) but not the sort of deep rumble/bark I'm getting from my Tec exhaust which is a straight through system.
Hi, will NEVER be as loud as a TEC, has a rumble on the over run and now people look up when it comes up the road, camera phone does not do it justice. Does seem to pick up quicker. I did fancy a TEC but too noisy for me, plus this was only £35 and 2 gaskets, and its road legal, TEC and Black Widow short cans are not CE BSAU approved so no good where I live as `i would just get Knicked
@@chipchapchopreturns do you live in Germany by any chance?

Wow, I hope you had some breathing protection. People do not realize what's in catalytic converters, the mesh you started drilling into.
platinum in the uk
Yes, why meth heads steal them here
Has the power risen?
Aren't you feeling gasoline after the ride?
Thanks Zdenek CZ
picks up quicker, gas the same
Did you get a check engine light or anything?
no, if you turn on the ignition with sensor unplugged you will
any isuises after 2years?maybe runs more smooth on low speed and rmp?
still runs very well, had service and plugs were checked, so no running issues there.
Look good for me :)))) I sow 3 options regarding standard exhaust upgrade. I will do decat tomorrow:))))) did you check bike on stand after ? How do you think is a map required?
runs fine no remap req, runs richer without cat.
Thanks. So that's my plan for tomorrow;))))
how did it go the decat
chipchapchopreturns yeah :)))) just need welded back:)))) that's plan for this week :)))
Sergej Rabizo did you do it. Does it sound like an aftermarket full exhaust or a little quieter?
good , more good, could you make a more detailed video?
yes

"Much cheaper than some of the aftermarket alternatives and not too noisy." i still find it hard to believe folks send hundreds of US dollars for an aftermarket exhaust. more money than sense imo.
p. m. Id just get the aliexpress full exhaust with any muffler you want and boom. With less than $150 you have a full aftermarker exhaust then get a ecu or a fuel controler and your done
Because some people want an exhaust that doesn’t sound like shit. Normally depending on the bike you can throw kinda a cheap exhaust on there and it won’t matter. This isn’t one of those bikes. The high end exhausts like two bros sound way better than this
does this mod have consequences on performance? Fuel consumption? Anything?
Hi, its runs better, quicker pick up with no flat spot, fuel consumption settles down as to start with I kept giving it large. Runs as nature intended
chipchapchopreturns thanks for the answer buddy, i might consider this option untill i saved up for a akrapovic!
Great content :)
Of course it does it has less restriction in airflow
chipchapchopreturns it probably picks up faster due to it running lean
@@jordanenriquezbitchnigga9117 runs richer as cat is restrictive
How about the exhaust fumes? I’m concerned about the smell.
stick a clothes peg on your nose
Need remapping? Or sport air filter?
spot on as is
Do you know the type of metal for welding, steel or Ali?
Did you TIG or MIG weld it?
Cheers
tig, just fused existing back together, it can be mig welded with stainless wire
@@chipchapchopreturns what kind of amps did you use. Welded pipe for years About to do one for my buddy and ive never welded anything as thin as the new exhaust he has.
@@devilsfootball72 low amps as possible, just fused existing metal back together with tig

How hard is it the get the stock exhaust off and back on ?
easy, 5m mins off, 10 mins on
Did you flash afterwords?
no need runs richer, runs better
no need to, runs richer, runs better, stock pipe still has plenty of back pressure not like a black widow with no baffle.
Still sounds like a scooter imho ;) I would rather invest 300 € into a black widow which sounds proper and is cheap.
I bought an anodising check out the videos
Sounds terrible.
Also you could have sold the cat for scrap before you destroyed it.
Stuck in had to be drilled out, got anodising pipe now so it was a good stop gap until cheaper pipes were available, actually it run very well
But it still weighs a ton and looks like an ugly Vespa exhaust
bought me time till i got a £109 anodising
It's a ridiculous move, the catalyst is necessary for health and should stay in place, a much fuller sound can be achieved by just changing the inside of the boiler.
