First off, Arteta applied Porto's tactics effectively. Secondly, i don't get why people are so salty about this team defending so well; the characteristic of this team is its ability to defend extremely well. During the Wenger era, everyone ragged him for being gung-ho and not being tactically flexible. Enter Arteta who is the definition of a pragmatist and everyone is now pining for all out attack... Seriously.
I was thinking that as well, that mid block was great. But ig arsenal fans also slated Porto for using these tactics and then they praise arteta so theres that
Many Arsenal fans were angry bcx the ball wasn't flowing due to Porto's constantly falling n slowing down the fluidity.. don't forget the ball was in play for just 54 minutes😢@@sigfigronath
I'm not sure about the rage. Now I think arteta got his priority right. Do you want to play entertaining football or getting result? Clearly arteta choose the latter.
because arsenal definitely could’ve won the game, and people don’t like seeing sports teams settle for less even if it’s safer
Your comment is spot on, city are by far the better side and arteta did he's best to come out with something and that's incredible.
arteta did a Mourinho yesterday with an objective winning is a luxury while to draw is the necessary.
City only managed 2 shot on target against Arsenal this season😂. 2 losses, 1 draw. Haters are crying, but Arteta is proving that he is not a flash in the pan manager, he is actually elite.

I've noticed that Kovacic dropped lower in the first buildup and that is seeable by the average positions' map that you showed. Arsenal tried basically to create a cage around Rodri, by keeping Jesus; Havertz and Ødegaard very narrow in a central position cause, as you rightly said, they were not preoccupied of leaving some space to Gvardiol. Actually, i think that the croatian played quite well, but he's of course slightly less dangerous on the ball than most of his teammates. After all, City played better but Arsenal were really good at defending in their super low block. Good breakdown as usual. Kudos to you🙌🏻👌🏻👏🏻
I don't think City played "better" per say than Arsenal. Arteta came with the gameplan not to lose, and probably the starting 11 of City helped him a bit. They were very narrow, and were dangerous on the counter when City lost concentration. Bringing Doku and Grealish on was the genious bit from Pep, but the end product just wasn't there from them. Doku got past players but couldn't get the ball in, Grealish was far too conservative for which he got a mouthful from Pep just after full time. Arsenal played for a point and a lucky 3, they got a point. Now all the other 9 teams to face City know how to shut off Haaland, so that's a good news for Liverpool and Arsenal.
@@theLonelyBandit6984Mate, knowing n having the manpower(with the skill set) are two VERY different things.
@@theLonelyBandit6984 i respect your opinion, but i disagree about the value of that kind of "plan". As a newly licensed D Uefa coach, i have the maximum admiration and respect for Mikel Arteta; i'm gonna be adamant about this. But, on the other hand, i hope with all of my heart, that he didn't purposely go to Manchester, planning to only disrupt City's propositions. And it's not gonna be that easy for the other teams to apply the same strategy, cause: every game is different in the first place and not all the teams have such great players as the likes of Saliba; Gabriel; White etc. When i said that City played "better", i meant that they have tried to win the game at least. With more consistency and much more will to expose themselves to the natural implied risks. In my opinion, they should have moved the ball quicker and tried more combinations in the tight spaces and maybe should have not insisted on a crossing game far too much, but hey, it's easier from the satie. I like both City and Arsenal. I am a neutral observer. I've said that Arsenal have defended well and i've given them credit for that. I didn't see many dangerous counterattacks tbh. A couple of wide shots from not so promising situations by Jesus in the 1st half and basically 0 in the 2nd half. Anyway, thanks for your comment and have a nice day. 🙌🏻
Correct I'm releasing a tactical analysis video myself in a few hours time
@@GM_FtblA cool: i'll check that out!
Before Ake injury, Kova dropped to the left to get on the ball for often. Being the first to receive the ball from city goal kicks
Having the ball-carriers, like Kovacic, deep in the build-up seems like a good idea against a man to man high press.
One time he managed to beat Saka 1v1 and progress the ball. This, however, bears the risk of losing the ball in 40-50% of the duels.
People are saying Arteta parked a bus... The game was so boring... I believe they also find game of Chase boring too...
I enjoyed the game thoroughly... It was like watching a game of Chess from two tactical geniuses of this time... In every part of game Pep tried to do a thing, made a move then Arteta negated it by changing another thing in his move....
The only way to beat City with this squad is to play ruthless counter with speedy winger and physical & athletic defence & mid... Since Arsenal have neither... It makes more sense the way Arteta did... & Arsenal didn't always sit back... They kept possession and attacked... It was City' brilliant pressing that those moments came less...
& KUDOS to you for perfectly analyse that tactical Chase game...
The fact that Arteta made Arsenal players neutralise City's build-up play game turned to look one-sided as yes Arsenal parked the bus through their narrow defence line..
Proof that dycheball is ultimate professional football tactics

Love how adaptble Arteta is, the Porto tactics will help us away in the cl and excited to see how he adds more offensive systems to our tactic (already a mix of pep and klopp)
No the mix of Wenger, Pep, and David Moyes who he played under at Everton. Yesterday was the perfect example of Moyes ball. Just sit deep and try not to concede. Not that, that kind of football is bad we didn’t lose and that was the aim.

Not gonna lie, this is the game where I was reminded that a 0-0 game isn't necessarily not fun.
This was a colossal matchup and a great game tbh. I say this as a MU fan.
Great point for us, don’t care what rival fans want to say. you’re talking about city the treble winners at home where they are rarely beaten or lose. They are many ways to play football this negative narrative about “defensive football” is stupid we set out not to lose and didn’t so happy overall.
Talking points:
Gabriel and Saliba put in a solid shift
Saka looked off the pace
And why didn’t Trossard square it to Martinelli?
Psychologically, a great point for gunners to stay in the race as opposed to risk being 3pts off the pace. However, with defensive mindset, something has got to give and it's usually normal attacking prowess. So not surprising attacking players wouldn't look like they normally do attacking and making non optimal attacking choices.
Talking point you should add: Arsenal killing their title hopes
@@belluh-1huey102 Here’s a talking point I’ll add for you personally: you don’t half chat out of your ass. 😂 all to play for, and if you don’t think Liverpool or city cannot drop points for the rest of season. Highly delusion you!

@@fawwazhelmee4008by trying to win. But they were to scared and being EXTREMELY courteous leading to them playing for a draw(arsenal especially)
When City had controlled possession in Arsenal's half, Arsenal defended in a low-block system. This means that the distance between Arsenal's defensive lines and their goalkeeper was kept at a minimal. This consequently meant that one of Haaland's main strengths which is running in behind from Kdb's through balls was largely cut-out. I'd have preferred Pep to have taken out Haaland and either moved Foden in that false 9 role or brought in Alvarez to play that role. The combination of Haaland and KDB was simply not working against a well-organized and defensive-minded Arsenal. Had Pep brought in Alvarez or moved Foden to the middle, it would have allowed City to play quick passing combinations to open up Arsenal.
Additionally, Haaland offers very little without the ball. He does not press as intensely as his other City forwards.
that comes with a grain of salt tho, arsenal in that case would have a much higher defensive line (which benefits saka massively, and might sub in martinelli too).
false 9 works so well cuz of cut-in wingers who are either really pacey or great dribblers, and traditional full backs who take up the wings in their stead. pep has that quality possession based midfield, but he just didn't have any pace to counter arsenal.
had jones have not been injured, they could've tried 2 strikers, haaland being haland, and julian/foden playing as a deep pivot, without really worrying about their defense all that much
and you could see how gvardiol was literally left alone and still didn't pose a threat at the wing too
That would have played to arsenal hands, yes, halaand had a bad game, but he was still a handful to gabriel and saliba, remove halaand for someone they would have easily bullied would only favour arsenal more
@@jacobalexander4167Halaand didn’t have a bad game , Saliba and Gabriel pocketed and bullied him. His hold up play is horrible.
That would have been his worst mistake, Gabriel and Saliba would bully alvarex
very good analysis.

You should do the Aston villa man city last game where Aston villa dominated city
The mind game by both managers and very tactical approach of the game.
Hi.
Pls do a pre-match tactical Analysis between Arsenal vs Bayen
While I do give respect to both team's defensive strategies, the offense from both teams made me doze of at times. But hey, at least the title race is heating up. Also, I have a vid request that i think you would like: your dream all time xi and how you would want them to play
Over thinking gourdiola unnecessary tweaks players out of position, had Arsenal taken chances it could have been loss
The only thing worth noticing in that underwhelming match was the break Arsenal had where Trossard received the pass from Odegaard and instead of squaring it to Martinelli who would have been 1-on-1 then, he cut inside to his right foot, took on his defender and then decided to shoot on his left foot. It's in these moments that you need intelligence.
yea that was a real let down. But then again its how Trossard goes about his game so cant really expect anything else there
Tbf, since he wasn't confident enough to take the first touch on his left foot, his pass to Martinelli probably wouldn't have been the best. Haaland also missed the ball when he got the chance. Against City, teams always get chances like this but fumble. Jokes aside, teams are scared of them away without their own fans backing them.
I think that in a nutsell is both Trossard's strength and weakness - he doesn't want to lose possession so he doesn't take those split-second opportunities that arise and disappear while he takes an extra touch- that's why he'll always be a very good player rather than a great one
Bro Parked the bus, it's that simple. if it was Mourinho or Simeone the narrative would be different
There's no denying arteta has managed to coach one of arsenal's biggest issues last season, which was defensive solidarity. Their shape and pressing were all timed to perfection.
However, i felt arsenal could have shown more attacking intent, to try get the win rather than settling for a draw.

City really missed Gundogan this season. Really underrated player
TACTICAL GAME OF THE SEASON

It seems Arteta gambled this gameplan on assumption that city need to get 3 points slightly more than them and so they would take more risk in late minutes. Pep apparently did not, at least not enough. By that they possibly gave away league title to Liverpool.

I don’t understand why Pep doesn’t use Haaland more. He’s very underrated at hold up play but they never allow him to drop deep. Plus even more important is when he drops deep it gives him 10+ yards to make his run in behind at full pace so players can play him in behind. Really not getting the most out of him by making him stay on the last man 24/7
He's shit on the ball
Because Haaland has a tendency to give the ball away when he drops deep his passing can be questionable at times
Parking the bus and playing for a draw is a tactical encounter?!
Is this the only way to stop city? I'm interested if you have some tactical ideas on how to counter them.
One way I can think of is through creating utter chaos. Those City players aren't trained meticulously for that.
@@Chip_Fuse I don't know what counts as chaos but maybe if somehow a team can adapt the Spain squad tactics with all midfielders on the front which rotates every now n then. Probably could bamboozled city's defense. The caveat is you are lacking in goal threats. Its just a thought..
