      @@NILAMANIL you are correct here. When formulating it should be measured preferably in grams as that is the international measurement in formulating however ounces is also acceptable. Cups could differ from country to country and is not an accurate measurement

      D P you can find all kinds of books on herbalism I recommend one called Encyclopaedia of Medicinal Plants by Andrew Chevallier. It’s a really informative and helpful book for starting and provides very good description on each plant, and is still easy to understand. On the pages it tells you about it’s origins, key constituents, things it can be used in (creams, tinctures etc) and more. Plus at the back it gives you easy to follow methods on how to make creams, ointments, tinctures, poultices and much more. Hope this helped ❣️

    Bulk Apothecary is the cheapest online supplier I've seen, however, expect to need to stay on top of them, call them back multiple times about your order, and deal with delays in shipping, etc. When I ordered from them during one of their seasonal 40% off sales, I had to wait an extra month, and call back 3 times, be put on hold for over an hour, and finally they figured out their machine hadn't printed my order, and then it arrived dmged but it was the cheapest deal I could find.

    sweet almond oil is also used for the carrier part of the herbal infused oil that will then be ADDED to ointments, lip balms, etc... because sweet almond oil isn't as oily as the olive oil, it works better for the infused oils that will become ingredients for creams, lotions, balms, & salves. who wants a greasy layer of oily crap on your skin? I mean really. lol

    Nice video, just like that about creams. But I hope you bear in mind, beeswax isn't a solid fat, it is - suprise, suprise - a wax :) Lanoline for example does contain fats and also some waxes, and is semi solid. Peanut oil is composed purely of fats but is a fluid. So something that is solid and feels greasy isn't always a fat. If beeswax would be a fat, it wouldn't have emulsifying properties either.
    As you see I'm rather interested in the chemistry behind all this ;)

    • @kathryncastanares525
      @kathryncastanares525 Před 7 lety

      Tiffany Jones infused oils and ointments usually have a 1 year shelf life. some even 2 years. so you shouldnt have to freeze to prolong their shelf life unless you really dont use it that often. But im not too sure you can freeze the oils without doing any sort of damage to the beneficial properties of the oils and herbs. but i am not 100% positive on that since ive never needed to freeze any oils.loli am now curious tho(:

    Honey can be used but do not use it on products intended for babies or small pets, their immunity systems arn't fully developed and can be seriously harmed by it. Honey is a natural anti-bacterial agent and a preservative (all sugars are preservatives). You could also use a natural beeswax candle, instead, just cut and melt the wax in the double boiler, like you would an ordinary beeswax bar. All country-side locations in the USA have beekeepers, try calling a farmer if you can't find one.
