Date of adventure: 12/17/22
Dreams really do come true -- I FINALLY got invited to a party at the world-famous underground house in Las Vegas! I drove all the way out from Death Valley for this...and was it worth it? Spoiler alert: YES!!!
This 15,000-sq ft underground house is 26 feet below street level, and was built in 1978 by a businessman and philanthropist named Jerry Henderson, who lived in it until his death in 1983. Most of the decor has remained unchanged since then -- it's like a time capsule. Check it out!!

wonder hussy, wonderhussie, wonder hussie, wonder hussey, wonderhussey
I shot a half a dozen Weddings in the Underground House during the 80's and 90's. Neat place! The story of the original owners makes it even more NEAT. Caliche makes any basement in Vegas a RARITY. There are a rare few. THANKS FOR THE TOUR... BRINGS BACK FOND MEMORIES.
I imagine you were thrilled to have seen a familiar place being featured on Wonderhussy's channel. I bet the wedding photos shot here were spectacular as well
The original owner also built and lived in an underground home in Colorado. The house in Colorado is 45,000 square feet. The Las Vegas house was purchased in 2014 for $1.15 million dollars. The owner is the Society for the Preservation of Near Extinct Species, a seld-described group whose goal is to promote human life extension. Maybe that's why there was a cryogenic container, and all the printed materials around the house.
I WISH YOU'D SAID WHERE THIS WAS BUILT IN COLORADO
" Who wants to live forever?"
I guess they never saw Zardoz.
Dead enders
Freeze this!
I grew up around the corner from the underground house. As kids we watched it being built. I've never been inside. Thank you for going there. Merry Christmas!
Thanks for taking us along to this party/home tour. Enjoy the Holidays!
Sandy here: WOW that was amazing. Glad you got the invite and extra glad you took us along. What a unique house. Stay safe and be well ❤❤ Sandy
Fascinating! Damn, you’re lucky to get into that house.. thank you for taking us along!
Thanks for introducing us to the ONE LEGGER MINER! MERRY CHRISTMAS to ALL!
Sarah... I've known about this place for a long time and driven past it countless times. I'm such a Cold War facilities fan. I have seen all the standard, old pics of this place but your video is so fun and such a revelation! Thank you! You're awesome as always. I'm still in Utah and have some great places we could camp. Get with me on your next Tour of the Southwest. Anyway, Thanks again for your outstanding tour of this Vegas enigma... you're always the best, Happy New Year!
The difference between the IKEA store offerings and the underground house decor shows how far interior design has sunk in making a house a home over the decades. You certainly won't find any nude girl mural tiles in IKEA - more's the pity as they're a late addition to my Xmas list.
Looks like a real blast from the past. Wonder if Brendan Fraser has ever visited?
First thing you’re beautiful second thing that house is amazing. Again you’re beautiful.
Party? I'm in!!
Clink 🥂🍾💖
Sarah that place is the Ultimate Stabbing Cabin Thank You for the Tour Great Editing you always do a great job
I’m probably the only human being who has never crossed the threshold of an IKEA store (at least within my family 🙀)…Merry Christmas Sarah Jane 🎄🎄🎄
I’ve never been and never will🤷♂️
Never heard of it. I sleep on bear hides and goose feathers. Not made in china is the way I snore.
I never have
Travesty!! (I'm joking.)
I've been there once 15 plus years ago.
I use to live near this house . Always wished I could see it
That place is so freaking cool!!! 😎
Congrats on the invite to the underground house. Thanks for taking us along!
I think that gas grill was a Jennaire and it’s electrical. There’s an exhaust fan in the middle that does need to be vented outside.
Yes it was. The smoke and such is sucked down into vents that go down into the cabinet below and then out the back into the chimney to go upward. They were all the rage back when this was built. That way you do not need a vent hood above to catch the smoke and fumes.
Yes, I had one like it.
More Wow than Weird....I love it too....Also, looks to be an underground, Gentlemen's Club House....
Oh wow! That was fun! Absolutely beautiful house! Thanks for inviting us along...sooooo cool!
Cool ear rings, Sarah.❄❄ The underground house reminds me of a couple of Twilight Zone episodes.
Wonderhussy brings us on a home tour. What can we expect next Sarah. The only thing it was missing was a hot springs so we could see you doing your thing.
Part 2 Sarah jumps in the pool and everyone hops in too ! That's going to be a good one. Stay tune. 😜😜😜😍🥰🥳
You know, as cool as that place is, I would have felt sad and lost there without you - Sarah, you just have a way of making even the most alien location feel ok and cozy. You're the loveliest, most enjoyable person to go exploring with!
Thanks for letting us be your + 1. What a way to escape winter even if for only a short time. , and I thought Carlsbad Caverns was the best underground facility I'd ever seen. This was epic. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
This video was OUTSTANDING!! What a cool place. Wow! Thank you so much for sharing! Merry Christmas Sarah!
Wonderhussy, this is the second clip on your channel I have watched today. This one, However, is one of the coolest short stories you have done for a bit. Don't misunderstand, but some are good and others are great. This one was great. Thanks Wonderhussy .
So awesome that you got invited to this world famous house
If I had my dream I would build one of these underground houses
You've got great connections there Sarah. Don't get any crazy ideas about your "submarine" room at your compound. MERRY CHRISTMAS. You are fabulous, Wonderhussy.
The genuine joy that you expressed in this very entertaining video is amazing to experience. Another great adventure. Thank you for sharing.
You make the funnest videos on youtube.
"Look at all this china. Gina!" lol
"This place is a hundred times weirder that I would have imagined. And I love it!"
Wonderhussy loves this underground house! 21 years in Vegas and never was in it. It really is so her. All she has is her underground room she calls the submarine. Waa.
That was so cool! My husband was born and raised here, and I’ve been here since 1988. We have always been curious about that house. Thanks for taking us along! Merry Christmas!! 🎄
Very Creative For The Time It Was Built. If Solar Panels Had Been Available At The Start They Would Of Provided Much Power To Lithium Batteries. I Would Imagine The Electric Bill For This Place Today Is High. Thanks For The Tour. always, Tommy🤠
So cool to see you finally got to visit that underground house; and so cool you took us along for the trip :-)
WOW, JUST WOW!
I've never realized how festive that tube lighting can be. I imagined the gas bbq without the green lighting at it's base, and I came up with a boring picture. I'll have to use tube lighting around my place for parties.
Another wonder trip into the strange. Well done wonder.
That has to be one of the craziest houses ever. Living underground that is crazy
awesome tour. Thanks for something I could not see otherwise!
Heard about the earthquake in northern California and instantly remembered your mom lives in that area. I hope everything is ok. Have a great holiday season and stay safe.
Her mom is in Sonoma Co. The earthquake was hundreds of miles north in Humboldt Co.
@@davidjackson7281 thanks didn't know which Counties where effected good to know prayers to those who where.
@@davidjackson7281 . I think there’s a collective sigh of relief with that bit of information. Since some of us live closer to the east coast it’s hard to hear the county and write it down to figure the difference. Thanks for that.
@@clemensweisenberger2695Your welcome. It was an honor to allay your caring concerns.
@@kevinstonerock3158 You betcha! I guess that is why I responded. I wish the best for all Woodalls and fans.
I'm happy to see it, and even happier that you got to see it in person. Nobody would have been more deserving or appreciative of the invitation. I'm wondering if the "caretaker" might just be the owner not wanting to reveal himself as such. In any case, very generous of him to host a party there and let you wander.
That was cool you finally got to see the house Sarah. Thanks for sharing with us!👍🏻💕
Sarah Jane, as much as I have enjoyed all of your adventures (so far) that is one of the coolest videos I have watched of yours. For those of us who are not so well connected (like you) it was such a unique experience at the Underground House.
I love all that kitsch! Cryogenic chamber! Dog head from Egypt! And so much more VERY COOL stuff. Not to mention a beautiful home. FIVE STARS for you. Keep up the great work!
The pool reminds me of the pools scene in The Last Picture Show.
I'm feeling pretty groovy after watching this video🤪
WOW,WOW,WOW
That place looks amazing omgee, I want to go!!
That house has beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms! WOW
Thanks Wonderhussy, the Underground House of Las Vegas was very cool.
I am so glad you finally got in there! Thanks for showing us.
There are no words. EXTRAVAGANT.
The wonder of Hussy never ceases to amaze!
Such a cool place! Thanks for showing us!
Awesome thanks for showing us
Merry X-Mas Wonderhussy! We LOVE you
I've always wanted to tour that house. Thanks.
Glad you finally made it
Omg that painting in the bathroom on the tiles is EXACTLY LIKE MINE on a canvas!!! Same pose, same style! Wow! Came from my former bar in Denver.
I wonder if both are derivative of some famous work? Mine is an original oil painting.
My painting was from mid to early 70s I surmise. Probably early. Or possibly earlier. I'd love to send you a picture of it if you'd like. My bar was on east Colfax in Aurora, Colorado. The Yucca. A once famous watering hole before we purchased it. Humphrey Bogart once dined and imbibed there! Now, alas, it is no more....
Didn't you do a video on this underground dwelling some years ago? Perhaps it was another one. Great Place. The caffene is making you cranky!
Merry Christmas Sarah♥
That was AWESOME!! Thanks for the adventure!
That was pretty cool that you got to take us on a tour of the underground house in Las Vegas. I remember the episode you did about the 5 places, so it was nice that you finally got to go in there. So now you have a shot at maybe being able to take a dip in that hot tub sometime in the future and knock that one off your bucket list of hot spring pools that you are so famous for
I’ve seen stills of the inside of this home but a live tour is phenomenal!! Thank you for sharing!!!!
I'm so glad you drove out to see the house , that was fun !!
That was awesome! So glad you were able to share!
That was excellent! So glad you got to go there! Merry Christmas
I looked up pictures of the house after the last video. Your footage brought it to life! So cool!
Thank you so so much for taking us along! I’ve been following this place for a long time, and now I got to tag along and vicariously tour with you. Have a great winter solstice along with all the other holidays. Later gator!

Oh good finally!! 👏
Yeah. It’s experiences and adventures that make great gifts in life. Oh and the people we meet too.
Thanks!
That's really awesome.
That was awesome, I remember seeing it in one of your videos but never thought we'd be able to see inside the house. Sarah, you are the best! You got us in there to see it! Thank you.
I was excited to see this place and I’m not disappointed. Thanks for the tour.
I'm glad you finally got to see it Sarah, now you know what we used to trip about. The place is still awesome.
Thank you Wonderhussy for giving us a virtual tour of the fabled Fabulous Underground House. I have always wondered what it was like ever since I heard about in the 1970's when I moved here. I have wondered every time I drove by it since then.
What a Trip !
Wow The stone work in that underground house is cool!
That is right up your alley! I'm glad you filmed it because that place is amazing.
May everyone have a wonderful holiday season thanks Sarah
I love background sounds on your videos. They remind me of cartoons I watched as a child.
Well, that was different. Fascinating.
Hilarious … Merry Christmas Wonderhussy!
This was so weird but loads of fun. Thanks Sarah.
Totally amazing spot. You are the most worthy!
Thank you !!! Totally AMAZING!!!
