So nice to see another dog like mine in service dog training. Mine is a Shiba, so similar, and turned out to be the perfect size, personality, etc...for my needs.

also it has to be in training it has a fairly loose heal and the vest says service d dog in training it had also small bits of focus to the handler and took a little bight to get commands right and when she was getting her bag in the cart the dog wasn't really looking at her . . . still a amazing dog tho .

also if a dog dosent have a jump cue for the escalator it can be pretty dangerous so keep that in mind

@@cardboard_creationsxxJust to be clear, not every dog is going to walk in a super tight heel. I prefer to keep my service dog in training close, for her safety and because she needs to be able to smell me to alert to my cardiac conditions. Guide dogs, or dogs with guide tasks don’t walk in a heel, and dogs with forward moment tasks also won’t walk in a heel. Just a small reminder, some dogs are slightly different. Not every dog is going to be lazer focused on their handler either, some dogs, for things like PTSD as an example, are trained to very aware of their surroundings. Those 2 particular things don’t fault a dog for being a service dog.
People like to hold handlers and their dogs to specific standards, when really, it all is based on the dog. All the ADA asks is that the dog isn’t having accidents/is potty trained, doesn’t disturb the general public by barking, sniffing, the like, is under control, whether it be verbally or by other means, and that the dog is trained to preform at least one tasks. That’s it.
As a community, we tend to forget what the law states, and tend to see our own standards and fault people. Some dogs are slower to respond too commands, and that’s just how that dog, or that team works, and that’s okay. Just keep that in mind 😊😊

What kind of "service" does this dog provide?

This looks like the ada training test. This is a test of how they are in public. A dog like this can have many tasks.

This looks like training for the public access test. This test acceses the team in regards to public safety and doesn't include demonstrations of their tasks.

I'm thinking she's either using this to get him used to moving around a mobility aid and the sounds it makes or...she has a condition like Dysautonomia. My mom had that and she used to bring a foldable stool with her everywhere. I have it too and have a walker with a seat. For me, lifting anything out of the car is too much so I just bring my service dog. Cause walkers, stools and suitcases can't alert you or do dpt.

I can’t remember where now, but I read not to train for escalators because of the potential of injury. Said to for elevators though.
