    Thank you for the thoughtful and useful ideas! I’m not a caregiver but I am a senior who just received a knee replacement. The transfer seat I have appears to be backwards with no easy means of moving the railing to the other side. At least I have an easy aide to prevent water everywhere!

    I like your neat and simple idea. Thanks so much from an elderly caregiver.

    Couldn't remember how I did the last one and had to come back to get a refresher now that my parents moved lol I ended up taping an old plastic gift card to the bottom of the center portion so my mother with arthritis could insert it a little easier.

    Thank you! I'm a new caregiver for my disabled mother and am trying to learn tips & tricks. I have a good setup at home for her but was trying to figure out what to do when we travel and are using a friends bathroom. This was perfect as my concern was water going everywhere!

    Thank you!! We've cut 3 curtains tearing out how to figure out how not to spill water everywhere. We also have a tub cutout and a transfer bench for my grandfather but we were struggling. So I just wanted to say thank you for making this video

    Thank you so much. Im not elderly, but i had a surgery before and i struggled to not make a mess in the bathroom, and it made me not want to shower as often. Now going into my next surgery I'll be more confident and comfortable using my shower chair.

    This might be the most brilliant thing I've found online in a long time!! I'm going to use the cutting of the shower curtain idea. It's been driving me crazy that my mom can't straighten the inside curtain enough to keep the water inside the tub.

    I’ve been sitting on my curtain. Never even thought of cutting it to fit through the slats.

    Thanks so much for all these useful tips! I just broke my ankle, may have to have surgery on it, and can't stand to be dirty. So I ordered one of these benches. It will be so nice to shower!

    I broke my leg and ankle and need to use a transfer bench. I like your idea of using a towel on the bench. I tend to stick to it and am having difficulty sliding across. I will try the towel tomorrow. I have cut a slit in the shower curtain. I also use a plastic bag on my leg to keep it dry. I find keeping my leg outside the tub and propped up works well for me. I arrange the curtain to cover the whole area and have a hand held shower. Water outside the tub is minimal.

    Nice idea but how are you going to use the transfer bench i.e. to get in the tub if the shower curtain is tucked in?

    • @grangrampa832
      @grangrampa832 Před 2 lety

      I agree you have to open and close curtain you can’t leave it tucked in

    • @SunShine-tr5cw

      She did show to lift the shower curtain out of the slat first, then pull the curtain to the end so the person can slide to the outside part of the bench without the curtain in their way.

      Use a light weight commode chair in the tub, except leave the bucket off. Now you have full access to the private parts to wash and dry.

    I don’t have a curtain but I have glass doors. Now what?😊

    • @SunShine-tr5cw
      @SunShine-tr5cw Před 10 měsíci

      Either remove the glass doors and put up a curtain rod and curtain or find something different than this type of transfer device

    Nice Now to video. Have you ever sat inside the tube then inserted the curtain into the gap? I'm not that big 185lbs and I would have a very difficult time doing your suggestion if your sitting on the chair. I think you need to try your idea from the inside and take a shower and get wet! I'm missing my feet so I can't stand up to put the curtain into the slot and when sitting on the chair I only have use of my left arm.

    @aloiswinzinger1160 Před 3 lety

    There is a better way. I don't make videos but I hope I can describe it well enough. Cut a hole in the curtain. make the cut as wide as the bench. measure the height before cutting. slide the bench through the hole. the curtain can be inside the tub now. all the person has to do is open and close the curtain.
