1 flight of 14 planes 56 torpedos altogether! Why was this ship hated....it's a mystery.

I think the impact that it can kill any ship it wants so quickly still makes it a top tier CV.
The Saipan has also been made almost useless with the cv reqork
Im curious as to why you think this. Discounting the bottom 50% of players, Saipan is consistently one of, if not the highest damage T8 CV in the game. Additionally, looking at the opinions of some of the top CV players in this game, they almost universally hold that Saipan is in contention for the strongest T8 carrier. I think the issue might be that Saipan scales to player skill more so than any other CV in the game, so there is a vast gulf in the opinions of the ship between those who deplane themselves instantly, and those who manage their resources properly and then go on to average 176k and 77% WR solo in the ship.

@@octaviusmorlockSaipan is awesome, you just need to save every little plane that you have. Divide groups, dont attack groups (unless there are no other options), use islands as cover etc
You will be rewarded with the best torpedo drops dealing 25k damage, and constant fire on the enemy battlecruisers thanks for the fastest attack aircrafts and drops of the very heavy high explosive bombs

@@alexanderkaiser3062 it is easy to get deplaned in it as the Regen rate is so slow.
Now back in the day of rts CVS it was a monster. I picked it up to learn how to run CVS then. Taking a fighter build let you ruin other CVS day.
Since the rebork of CVS and a few other global changes it is much harder to get it to work. The high stats are not adjusted for old vs new I bet.
So too small strike groups, too long to Regen planes are the biggest problems it has in the current game and how CVS work. Hornet or Kaga do much better with worse planes. Now that is in my hands but that is what I know.
I also know I don't see them much outside of Co op or operations. That is telling. Play a T8 cv and you will see tech line ones and Kaga and Hornet and the Graff. So I don't think I'm alone in my thoughts.
as a non CV player, i got this ship for steel about 2 weeks before it got nerfed. was my first steel ship also
Appropriate for Franklin Roosevelt himself, they designed the ship to be wheelchair accessible.
I agree with the 'if its bad for the game' but ... when its a steel ship like that get it right the first time please

Had a fdr kept att. My montanna last night most of my dam. Came frm my going broadside to ships trying too avoid 8 torps coming at me.

I know it's been nerfed into the ground but I still wanna get it just because of how different it plays to other CVs
I have the German CV, Zepplen. The torps are slow, so how do you recommend lining up a torp run on a ship? Because if you launch the them with a decent lead time, then the boat has time to turn and no hit. If you wait, then the torps wind up coming in behind the boat
ya gotta pick up a BB target that is not close to cruisers etc and has crap AA and just stay on that target and spot when u can as u go....
@@elric40 Roger that. So frustrating being in a Tier 8 CV and then you get stuck in a Tier X match. It's about impossible to get near any ship to do anything
@@sethdunn96if you are bottom tier as a CV, you can still spot the enemy DD for your teams and wait till to end game where enemies are spread out and thier AA are destroyed then you start farming

@@sethdunn96in tier 10 games as a tier 8 CV i typicly spend my time hunting DD’s with torpedo planes and wait untill the enemy’s team has become less dense
You know i am saving all my steal to get the F.D. Rosavelt, so i can troll....
I got the FDR about 7 or 8 months ago and I am a little underwhelmed with it for all the reasons you listed. Yes there is GREAT damage potential, making it a reality is harder than one would hope with long cool down and slow speed. Not to mention that the rocket planes cannot deploy fighters. So you also have less fighters than all other CVs
I only have CV tasks to go in order to complete Halsey 100% and have to use a US CV. Worked my ass off and got the FDR one patch before they nerfed it to death. VERY steep learning curve but I will get there eventually.......with ALL my karma deleted of course!
Learn your aa damage ranges don't activate sector fire until the planes near your highest aa damage range.
Like it gonna do anything lol. They still get a drop off, that’s literally how they designed CV gameplay
@@faynk.6247 i am guessing you didn't watch the video fully or weren't paying much attention. For the fdr in particular a lost plane takes nearly 2 minutes to regenerate (most cvs from t8 and above are usually around that area), a lost plane does hurt the cv a little, a lost squadron hurts the cv a ton, sure the fdr planes can take a ton of flak before they go down but often enough the players playing it will blunder their planes into your AA bubbles. I've managed to shoot down a couple of fdr squadrons in weak AA ships one being the velos and i remember that time very clearly because of how surprised i was. The fdr planes are so slow it's really hard to dodge flak if you used your engine boost to get to the enemy and are out.
Cvs can ruin your day and no amount of skill will save you! As opposed to subs that can only affect there own area but can also be a pain in said area!
CV main , FDR is my only steel ship , mine has earned 22k xp they destroyed it the day i bought it, i tried for a refund was told to go f myself stopped playing for a about a year after that ;)
i had got the Siegfried out of RB had that for a week before they completely re worked into a totally different ship . yet ever other broken ship they leave completely broken and just turn it into a Santa crate... F wg, F em in the wrong un ;)

But why surprised about the nerve? This is what WG does, they create a massively OP ship, everybody spends their steel, coal, doubloons whatever.
Next, they nerve it because they are complying to the player base wishes, even in this video Mountbatten says they listen... But they knew this from the start, since it is mega OP.
It's their way to sell, to make people spend resources.
People talk about it being overpowered but Malta is an upgrade over it with DD hunting capability due to slow rocket planes and Nakhimov is even better damage with fighter ignoring mechanics.Even Midway is better because of how much faster the planes are for overall match impact and Hakuryu laughs at the FDR
If anything you should want FDR to be against you because it's twice as bad as any of the mentioned above for overall match impact

Sure, FDR is strong against battleships. But I rather go for Midway anyday, it's much more versatile as it also can hunt DD's.

I play it to anger my own teammates. It is broken and the assessment by Sealord is accurate.
I regret having spent the steel on it. Sluggish planes, no fighter when using rocket planes, atrocious cooldown times between attacks, slow and pitiful damage torpedoes. Nah, it is a bad experience to play it, even in coop.
Detest that ship. Although personally I just hate playing against, as well as playing as, CV’s
Fast forward to today and I'd take two FDR's on the opposing team over one Tromp which is today the most annoying/hated ship for me personally. Those stupid airstrikes with their rocket propelled bombs with a 99% chance of starting a fire is the dumbest gimmick WG has has made for a ship.
You actually have to play the FDR in a Wheelchair to get the full effect of this ship.
They also should give a refund when they change a ship. It's a joke to sell you something....you get it....and then they change it. You should have the option to get all your steel back

Nakamov and pre nerfed Colossus are more evil than FDR. Add Super CVs, and spending steel is not worth it on FDR. FDR rocket planes suck and the cooldown is way too long. Malta is more well-rounded and coal

Be CV player isn't bad. There are reasons most players including me when I play some of others ships who have high detection or first one sunken in the match and get tied some.
Now pick a sub as the most hated, it's almost like they were put in to take the heat off the CV's

For me the Malta has surpassed it easily.
I almost quit and uninstalled the game because of that ship before they nerfed if. I wish WGing would stop introducing OP ships into the game. Now they need to nerf the stupid homing torps!
I’m thinking between new Italian R.Lauria and F.D.R. , because I when I came to WOWS , I started playing CVs first . Now I have even regrinded Midway , Hakuryu , Nakhimov.
For now I enjoy playing CVs , BB(Ohio,St.Vincent, Rhode Island, Agincourt) and subs(don’t hate me, I just want to know my enemy to counter it properly) .
As For F.D.R , it is still quite strong for a steel ship.

FDR in My Opinion is one of the Most Strongest Ships in the game, and I have played over 2000 Battles and one of the best FDR players in the EU server. I would say its still one of the most powerful ships where it can basically drop you several times and you are going to have difficult time shooting down planes. You guys can check in my youtube channel where I regularly post alot of FDR videos and it shows that this ship is still pretty absurd.
No. The most annoying thing in CVs is the fact of how much they are able to spot the entire enemy team for potentially his entire team to shoot instantly! So you see, part of this issue is not only CVs fault, but the entire game SPOTTING system (rules). Ask yourself, why radar have a delay before all other ships (apart from the ship with the radar) to be able to lock target and shoot, while regular spotting like a DD spotting gives INSTANT visibility and lock of enemies?? Why?? ALL forms of spotting need a delay, not just radar! WoW devs are stupid and lack BASIC common sense!
Most hated ship is ANY submarine.
At one point everyone wanted an FDR. I will say I am getting it at some point even though I probably won't use it.
It’s also the most boring CV to play. Planes are so ungodly slow you could brew tea while you wait to arrive.
And then when you are on the receiving end it just goes on and on with how tanky they are.

Your wrong the most hated ship is the Kamikaze because it has no counter at low tier again you and other You tubers need to get off your tier X pedestals and acknowledge people actually play other tiers.

Yeah I had a match in Brawls where I had lost no health, then the Malta focused me, and almost killed me with just two drops. I was like WTF?
Just to play devils advocate, why shouldn't CVs be able to nuke a ship? EVERY OTHER class (with the possible exception being subs) can Dev strike you. Why should CVs be excluded?
@@firechickenfan Because CV don´t play by the same rules. If every other ship (except subs) dev strike you, either its positioning was good and/or you messed up. A CV (if it wants) can camp at the map border, just fly to you with their planes (multiple times faster than any ship) and strike you from any direction they want. Meanwhile you can´t do much to avoid that and will probably never be able to shoot back. On top of that you get spotted so anybody in the enemy team can take some shots at you, too. Don´t get me started on the automatic fire prevention (that lasts for ever), auto ASW and no detonation.
Stop the hate on Cvs, they are balanced (if u are not a pro like all the classes). #StopHatingCVs
Only Subs are worse
So you are very worried about the loss of interest in this game. I will explain it to you in simple terms... new players are completely unable to assess the terms of the game as the terms require a physics degree to understand. This is a failure of the game. BTW, your youtubes are equally beyond understanding without a degree in World of Warships degree.
In simple terms, this game will die unless WoW gets it that the original players are the only ones who have any chance of understanding the nuances of the game. But you old farts want it that way, don't you? Unfortunate as the game has an attraction to commoners-- at least initially. It does not take long before they-the commoner- realize the need for a WoW degree. Does Wow offer student loans for this endeavor?
A complete ripoff of steel was the FDR, and now with even more nerf incoming to Bern and Chalov , after the joke that are Graf and Enterprise (premium CV all costing real money), there is basically no incentive of giving WG any credit for CV anymore, just stick tu russian free ones..
