  • Welcome to the second video in a series, where we CRUSH the parking spots that people have trouble with. We will try to park the trailer from every angle that I can think of, and we won't leave until the area has been thoroughly defeated. In this video, we battle Eddy's, Rail Export, and Wallbert with a G27 and TrackIR.

I'd love some more backing videos. I'm a real life truck driver rookie, I your simulator videos help me get a perspective on the setup and concept. I can maneuver a 53 ft trailer fine if my setup is good, but sometimes I'm not sure what the smartest way to setup is in different situations.

Thanks very much for your "parking" vids, they've been a big help for me, as I've just done my first week of trucking without any actual "how to back and park" training, apart from a week of "on the job" driving with a trainer. I don't think I would have survived if I hadn't practised for hours on ATS! I'm driving a "20' shipping container" side-loader, so I get the tight access jobs, because my trailer is a bit shorter than the 20'/40' side-loaders. Cheers!

I am surprised, that almost all the backing up in blind side, unlike in real trucking where you can usually set up to back in looking down the right side of the trailer. I guess in this game with so many blind side back ups to do , backing up in the third person is the only really good way. I was able to did it with the mirrors but it took me a lot of tries and was almost impossible, because you can't see the parking line in the mirrors by he time you are far enough away to get lined up that you have swing the trailer around. I found out inside the truck, blind side backing requires a lot of guess work and getting in and out of the truck which is time consuming.
Backing up in the third person as you do eliminates all that, but is kind of unrealistic.

@Pete_Hine_Of_PA Of a point, you can actually adjust the mirrors (angle, height, etc.) as well as place hood mirrors on your truck. When I did this, I was able to back into "Hard" spots in first person. Mind you, it's still fairly difficult without an Oculus, but much more doable with properly adjusted mirrors.

I only have 150 hrs in ATS, and I play with controller, but by now I've turned off the UI mirrors and don't use third person to reverse, even blind side. Yes, now they've added the zoom function that makes seeing the passenger mirror much easier, but I think what helped me most is that I jumped directly into the deep end with this game, getting a kw900 sleeper and a 53' trailer pretty quickly, and just hammering into my skull what I needed to do instead of taking baby steps.

I just came across this video and your other tutorial videos. I meant his as a compliment when I say that you make this look so easy. Thank you for these fantastic videos, they have helped me understand trailer physics so much and made me much more confident. Are you planning to upload any more tutorials like this, they are extremely helpful.

    Congratulations, you drive well.

Alright .... Now I have a request, since you have Euro Truck Sim. Please show people how to navigate around round-abouts (traffic circles). I know a lot of people have difficulties with this. I'm in an American city that has several of these, but some parts of the country do NOT. I'm not for certain if the AI vehicles play by any specific rules, LOL. With that in mind, maybe I could learn something from you.

I have so many trouble with the rail export backing up especially because the times I had to do it, it was night time which resulted in pitch darkness.

There is one that I just started playing and had to do that trumps all these. I just cant remember the location It was past a small building then there was a T section and you have to park it at the far right side of the T in the back There were two silos right in the far right corner, I dont own my own truck yet so I cant freedrive to see where it was. I watched 1 and 2 and but you didnt go to either of the tough 2 spots I went to on my first two trips. I wish I could remember where it was. I had ETS2 and it was really easy to back trailers this ones alot more of a challenge. I'll have to find that location again. It was tough.

This is the same store (different name in ATS) where I had my latest challenge. In mine, the second spot had a tandem trailer and I had a sleeper cab. I had a problem of trying to move the trailer about a foot away from the tandems to miss the concrete barriers. I also noticed in your second attempt while backing up, the trailer in the second spot was pushed over. Is that a viable approach in real life? LOL

I cringe everytime you do a 90 degree+ jackknife. I drove a tractor trailer for a decade and I would never have even thought of doing what you do so causally and often. It is NOT good for the kingpin and trailer. You ever LOOK at a 5th wheel/kingpin on a truck? Once that grease is worn off you're looking at metal on metal. NOT good.
