    Primal steps are a more affordable option to Wild Edge steps. They both function the same way in giving deer hunters the chance to become more mobile. In this video, I cover:
    - step weight
    - width
    - distanced from tree to step
    - my setup
    - transporting the steps
    - how to place them on the tree while ascending
    - and so much more...

    I plan on using a moveable 4 step aider with these. That way each step can be tied 6-7' apart and minimize the amount of steps need to gain my desired hunting height.

    Look into knaider/swaider. Good system when you get it down. I’m going to use mine for hang on as well as the saddle.

      Yep. That's a good idea. I like the saddle and hang on idea - more options.

    Use an aider and use half as many. I have wild edge and carry 8 but I use the perch and an extra step to get on the perch. I have a bad knee and it makes it easier.

      Good idea. I'm still looking into which aider system I'd like to go with. There are sooooo many ideas/products out there. How high can you get with your 8 steps?

    • @josephsimmons4908
      @josephsimmons4908 Před 3 lety +1

      Over 20 foot. I can measure if you want. I typically don't use them all though. And it is the wild edge aider I use. So b its just 1 step.

      @@josephsimmons4908 sounds like a good idea. Getting over 20 ft. with less than 8 steps would be great.

      Also, does the Wild Edge aider ever slip on the step? - left to right if the step isn't perfectly level

    • @josephsimmons4908
      @josephsimmons4908 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes it always slips to the low side its not perfect. You can usually tell which sideis low and go ahead and just put it there.

    How high up will 6 steps get me up the tree roughly?

  • @bowhuntingforlife
    @bowhuntingforlife Před 3 lety

    I think the reason people go back to sticks is because of the setup time. Attaching 3-4 sticks takes a lot les time then 8 steps. I’m thinking about using two sticks with one step with a 3 step amsteel aider. Use the step and aider at the bottom where I’m most comfortable with it to get 6 1/2 ft with one step then use two sticks up the tree.

    • @RelentlessSportsman
      @RelentlessSportsman  Před 3 lety

      I could not agree more. Steps can be a big pain and that's why so many people like sticks, the time and effort is huge. Sounds like you have a real nice setup going on!

      @@RelentlessSportsman not sure if I do or not yet. Just a theory currently, haven’t put it all together yet to see if I like it.

    Is this basically a Chinese knock off on the Wild Edge Stepps? Wild Edge= American made.

    • @RelentlessSportsman
      @RelentlessSportsman  Před 3 lety +2

      Exactly. I mention that in the video. For people on a budget looking to get out and hunting using a lightweight, mobile system, they work.
      Wild Edge Steps are a much better product though.

      They used to be on amazon but I can't find them anymore. The price is the same on this website as they were when I purchased them from amazon.

    People perfer steps because primal steps have a 300 lbs weight capacity and a lot of hunters have bent them. Sticks are more stable for large guys. Plus, that stupid buckle has to be replaced.
