Juliet (Keira Knightley from Pirates of the Caribbean and Pride and Prejudice) goes to see Mark (Andrew Lincoln from The Walking Dead) hoping that they could finally be friends. However, when she asks to see her wedding video taken by Mark, she notices that she is the only one who appears in the whole video. She questions Mark why he never talked to her, and he tells her it is for self-preservation.

What works about this scene is Keira Knightley’s irresistible radiance and Andrew Lincoln’s highly underrated portrayal of an individual battling to conceal pain.
What made the scene work was the ambiguity as to whether Andrew's character was gay or not (notice the metrosexual clothing) : Was he heartbroken over his love for the bride ... or the groom ... and so which partner did he envy for being married to the one he loved?
Only later in the movie do you realize that it was for Keira's character.

The 1:41 minute mark, when she realized he was in love with her was such a moment . Keira Knightley's face said it all without even having to say a single word.

At 3:53 ,that traumatic realization of your feelings being exposed, which comes along with the fact that you just forgot your jacket inside and the weather is freezing, however going back to take it means seeing her again, and the pondering back and forth he does, I would not be surprised If the actor did go through something similar in his life. I really like this movie.
I never noticed that! I always wondered if he was considering going back in because he didn’t want to leave it like that with her but the jacket thing makes so much more sense and I like how it shows he really just left without thinking
I love Love Actually. It showed all sides to love - not just the happiness of it but the absolute gut wrenching heartbreak of it. I felt so bad for him in this moment but at least glad she got to find out how he really felt and not kept it bottled inside. They could never be together but at least there was an understanding to keep things civil and coexist.

When u see the person u really want to be with everyday and u have to talk to them like they're just another person is heart wrenching. U wish u could just say it but your heart couldn't stand rejection, so u just have to keep letting them think they're no one to u. Love really isn't fair.

As a man who's been in his position, this scene captures reality very well! It's very painful to love someone who doesn't even see it. On one hand you don't want to be rejected by her, on the other you reject your life without her in it. It's like choosing between jumping off the cliff, or continuing living a life in agony. Neither option is good, but one _must_ me taken.

The best part is not even when he's standing at her door with the hand-written signs, but the part where he walks away and says "enough." completely relieved by knowing he told her how he felt.

Even though I have seen this a few times, this clip made me bawl
I love this girl so much and she knows that I have feelings for her. Unfortunately I'm not her type at all. We're friends and I cherish her so much that all I care about her is her happiness and well-being. And I always wish all the best things in life for her. Her smile is my heaven. (Edit: We're both in our twenties. I'll always look back at this comment and prove that true love exists.)
This is so similar to my current situation. I actually told my best friend I loved her, which was met with a "I love you as a friend." I don't know if my love for her is romantic or strictly platonic, but I care and respect her enough to know it's better left unexplored. Honestly, as a lonely 22 year old man who has never dated before, it's kind of nice knowing someone other than family cares about me as a person. I cherish her, even if it hurts sometimes knowing it will most likely never play out the way I would like it to. Thus is life, no? Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.
The more you find that love for yourself on the deepest level the more that love will impact her.

@@peytonibarra8992 allow me to share my experience with you. In my experience, romantic love is unnecessary. It’s a novelty. It never lasts. People get bored, people fall out of love, they want something new, etc. It’s just human nature. If you have a friend that you love, and they love you, it’s better to leave it that way. They’re your family, but not in a romantic way. That romantic stuff is overrated. It complicates things, and like I said, it never lasts. In my experience anyways. Just stick together as companions through life and it can never end badly. Broken hearts have destroyed more people than any weapon ever could
Just don't forget to value yourself, too. It's easy in my experience to conflate someone not being able to offer you love with not deserving love, and it's a complete lie your brain will tell you.
Love Actually is so chock full of gems, you risk missing some of them. I don't think I realized before quite how beautiful this scene is.

At some point we all have a moment in this way. I wasn't afraid to tell my friends about that and I am glad their partner actually like the fact I told them straight up and we bonded even more afterward. I had a real hug from all of them and I found my current fiancee after an equally awkward first date followed by many fun time.
Indeed, dido's singing voice helps to make this heartbreaking scene a sad and beautiful scene.
He just wanted to protect his unfulfilled unrequited love for his best friend's fiancée from the public eye and keep it safe. Does this sound creepy to you? I don't think so. Because he doesn't want to plunder her, and he doesn't expect retribution. It is neither calculating nor selfish; it is a beautiful love.
And yet, the woman he had fallen in love with himself had insensitively pried open his heart, exposed his delicate love, and tormented him. She was the only one who could make him happy and the only one who could be allowed to hurt him like this. Love is a cruel struggle.
He would never forget this embarrassment and pain. It's an embarrassing experience for everyone, but when it's with the person you love the most, it's the worst tragedy imaginable. But that's why I think this movie has been elevated to a masterpiece, because it's not just a festive Christmas love story, but also because of its ability to portray the reality that there are many sad stories of unrequited love in the world. I am moved by Andrew's realistic acting skills and his expression of sadness. All he can do is endure the pain and walk the streets.
He loves her too much to "get out of his room," because he can't even say that to her.
The beautiful streets of London add to the tragedy. I saw this movie before I knew Rick Grimes, and coincidentally, my favorite scene in the movie is definitely this one, and the one where he confesses his love by pretending to be in a choir.
I think he is more on a loss because she found out about his feelings - he was desperate to hide - than he is embarrassed. What could he be embarrassed about?
AND he's deeply conflicted because she's his best friend's wife. What torment!
