@@carmandirdaIt's not that you can't get good with a mouse and keyboard in these games. It's just much, much harder and with nearly 0 benefits.
@@kamikazesopp I personally find the games much easier to play on M&K if you ignore all of the fiddling at the beginning and playing with controller button prompts (in some games). It carries a pretty big benefit if you like playing action adventures with M&K in general. Maybe there's somewhere where the game breaks but I don't remember anywhere unlike in NieR Automata and Outer Wilds (this was only minor though and the mouse helped a lot IMO)
@@faceless1434 The only real benefit of M&K contrary to controllers in most games is camera controll, since the mouse allows for a level of precision that controllers just can't replicate. That isn't really much of a factor in the Souls games though, since they assume you use lock-on for most fights.
Of course, if you're just more comfortable with M&K than controllers, then that's going to be what works best. People have completed these games using dance mats, bongos and bananas, after all.
The first 2 minutes of the stream are as chaotic as Platy's entire stream. I'm here for it
Congrats, Jeremey! I know that Platy's the only reason you kept playing, but it was great watching you play and him coach/goad you. I've been in Platy's place for my brother and a couple of friends. DS3 is one of my all time favorite games, and I always like watching peoples' first playthroughs, newbs and vets. Just watch and learn, and don't be afraid to die.
So happy to see you two in the same room. The chemistry between you two is legendary.
Gundyr teaches a good lesson to those who look for it, for most bosses if you hug their ass like its your lover you have little to worry about except the stray mixup, most of the time giving a boss space just lets them use their bigger stuff and generally gets you murdilized

He's an easy cheese right? I don't recall ever having a problem with him but I liked to cheese harder fights.
@@knight838_ you can just hold up a shield on the square ledge and he'll charge attack off the stairs and down the cliff. 60% of the time it works every time

Where did platy get the idea that str builds were glass cannons? Brother them mfs have some of the most healthy/beefiest armor so they can eat shots as they swing their dps sticks around.
Dex lads are the ones who live in fear of being pricked, only outdone by casters who fear walking downstairs on pain of stubbed toe
Str isn't equip load, Platy is kinda right since your UGS are a big part of your load compared to, say, an uchigatana.
Both build styles can be glass-canon or ubertank in the end, depends on your armor & poise.
@@georgeosborne7949while you're mostly right, they generally use those higher equip loads to use said bigger weapons. You're not wrong either with how they can do both, but in general the one swinging the bigger weapon will have a beefier stance to avoid being knocked out of his swings and higher health to trade with the quicker moving daggers and uchis
I think his thought process on it being a glass cannon build is the idea of going for the biggest hardest hitting weapons and the lack of armor.
@@911eragon1 i can see where you're coming from but there are a few issues with this thought process. the argument of higher damage but slower attacks vs lower damage but quicker attacks has been an argument in games for decades. it usually goes along the lines of "i only have to hit you once Dex nerd!" VS "true, but CAN you actually hit me?" depending on certain circumstances, one will do better than the other but the details define this entirely. i'd say based on personal experience with all different kinds of builds, saying strength builds are glass cannons may not make sense at first glance especially when comparing them to other setups, but in a game like darksouls the details definitely matter. you can have a giant weapon that can kill certain players in as little as one hit but if the person you're trying to kill can consistently dodge your attacks or get in his attacks before you can land yours, there's a good possibility that the other guy who's faster both in movement and attack speed will win the fight. but with that being said, if the strength user lands his attacks who also can dodge attacks in turn, he can also definitely win. either side winning is equally as likely, in the end id say it comes down to the fighter. and your proficiency with your build.
Compared to prior DS games, you cant tank shit in DS3 your armor is made of Tissue Paper

I absolutely love watching Platy's face during this! When something happens *that most certainly shouldn't happen* it's like him and I have a moment. "Wait, did that really just happen?" or "Huh, that's weird. Why didn't *this* happen..."
Jeremy unintentionally picking the most busted starting weapon while also not knowing how to use it is easily one of the best parts of this video.
First hour in and him not using both of them is slowly killing me. Knight would of been the better pick for Jeremy. I feel like he'd enjoy the big ass weapons.

Learning that L1 and L2 will help a lot. It took me way too long to learn that the L1 constantly blocks if you hold it down which can save youagainst a lot of the easier stuff.
Just seeing them next to each other has already made me incredibly happy, I can wait for the rest of of the video

i have to say the fighting without feeling any progress is a terrible feeling i will not deny that, but i would trust platy on 1 thing you are doing good and are progressing really well
I have grown to enjoy watching people play souls games for the first time.
But Platy gave so many tips near the beginning that were just incorrect, like how parrying works or which attacks could be parried etc.
It was funny but also a little painful. 😂❤

Hey... proud of you, man. Not a lot of people are willing to play a game that they hate. You seem to think you're not doing well but you really are handling it nicely. We all go through these trials and errors while playing. Even if you still hate it at the end of all this, I'm happy you gave it a real shot.

Jeremy let me just say watching you play this takes me back to the days when I first started playing DS3. I had many similar struggles. Trust me you'll get through this game. Especially with Platy coaching/goading you on.

Power stances are the greatest secrets of the entire Fromsoft franchise.
probably because powerstancing isn't actually a thing in DS3. Only a couple of weapons get any kind of powerstancing moveset.
DS2 and Elden Ring are the only ones with actual powerstancing.
I just Hope this experience is something that Jeremey enjoys. Getting to learn how to play this game with Platy right beside him :D

It'd be Platy coaching and Jeremy watching Chilled die and going "Been there, glad it's not me now."
Platy and Chilled already did that, with chilled streaming and Platy waitching his stream while being on VC to guide him. I think it was around 1½ year ago, maybe a bit more.
It was only one stream though, and iirc it ended with Chilled saying he had more fun than he thought he would and could definitely see why people liked those kinds of games, but it wasn't for him and he probably wouldn't do it again, which he hasn't to my knowledge.

Tips for you and questions answerd :
Level basicly means how many Soul levels you have, Believe it or not all the classes are basicly balanced with the same stat line, Level or Soul level is basicly how many souls they have spent, the higher your level the more souls you need to spend
thus a level 10 character tech speaking has 4 more stat points then a level 6 character when you add eveything up
Knight is the fav fav, but Herald i would argue is prob the most noob friendly 100% phy resist shield, can use a Heal Aid so you dont have to use estus to heal yourself as much after combat, Spear is easy to attack while shield is up, Knight is just the fan fav coz 'Rawr swing sword!' but in this game weapons have abilitys powers that use your FP, and magic is pretty strong in the souls series even if its just buffs or extra heals
Cleric was considerd the best in DS2 coz heals + Mace was pretty strong of a weapon but meh shield
cleric in this isnt that bad meh shield and better heal sure but
sence healing is FP or mana based, Heal Aid is kinda better outside of combat as it uses less FP but heals 'less' better to top yourself off or just spend enough time outside of combat healing yourself up
tech speaking i think the best 'heal' spell in terms of health vs FP is Med Heal
eveything above heal aid can heal you + friendlys in a radius
find a play style you like, But dont be afraid to be flexible
if you wanna go pure Strength based a Randomly good weapon you can get early is Vordt Great Hammer good base damage + Frost Damage which is a special statius ailment introduce in DS3
Its also the first main boss weapon Soul you can get once you gain the ability to make boss weapons that is, Tech speaking a optional boss semi early on (can be your 2nd boss tech speaking outside of the tour boss that is lets ignore that)
Strength base builds are the norm builds, I Kinda would argue are not the best over-all but i get why there a fan fav
there are better strength based weapons out there then the Vordt Great Hammer but randomly its realy good and can get it early on sooo better then expected
Longswords can attack fast same with Battleaxes and such and ppl kinda like that more then hit hard but slower
Armor is useful in DS3 dont be afraid to be medium load or such
40 is the soft lock on ALOT of stats anything more then that is kinda meh On return with 60 being the Hard Cap after words the returns is almost 0 (like 1 basicly if that at times)
I have no idea where Platy got his ideas about this game, Strength builds are kinda the go to coz of how tanky they can be, Sure they may not be the best in terms of utility or anything like that but thats it they are the brute force type of play style
da fuck his idea of strength builds and such being glass cannons is ROFLMAO no offence I Get you can be glass cannon via strength if you just never upgrade other stats but strength but in that case eveything kinda sucks only increasing intelligence and never attunment will suck for spellcasters over-all for example
Endurance Vitality + Something eles, For Strength characters its like Strength
you could increase something eles if you want but thats basicly the build in a nutshell its not the greatest sure
but its not nearly as flimsy as platy made it sound.

Watching Jeremy get better as he plays was so fun to watch, he should really believe in himself a bit more because he's actually pretty decent and with a bit more practice he'd be really good.
I hope that Jeremy and Platy remember to go back for Greirat and that the poor man doesn't die from not being rescued, because it doesn't look like they went back for him after finding the key.

I don't know if you read these Jeremy, but sleeping on it is my best advice. Honestly, I felt like i was pounding my head on a wall for a lot of bosses in Lies of P, but after sleeping I was able to one shot or two shot them. REM sleep is truly underrated as a tool in video games.

easiest way to remember when to parry is to watch for an enemies attacking arm coming forward. that's when you hit the button

Jeremy, I know you hate the souls series style of play. When people say get good, they're not giving helpful advice. My advice to you, as someone who has played much of the series is this: Patience. Be ready to run and roll. Watch your opponents and study them. Then, you will learn when to attack and when to hold back. Also, bumrushing like you did to get to your souls near where you found the key is honestly another valid strategy in souls games.

I’m dead, I’m 90% sure a couple of those blood pools for the first boss were me in my most recent playthrough, I died getting speared
I honestly start every souls game as deprived it makes the start slower and more brutal buuuuut you start at level 1 so you level faster initially and no stat is under 10 which is nice. You also often find a weapon that can carry you through most of the game pretty early so starting equipment isn't super important in the long run

I've seen lots of playthroughs of Dark Souls before, but never really noticed the audio much. As I'm listening to the undead sounds in the start of the game, I am noticing a marked similarity to the zombie sounds in 7 Days to Die. I wonder if they used the same sound company.
Also I don't know what platy was on about bloodborn being hard its one of the easiest becuse it slightly rewarded you for being aggressive for the exchange of no blocking if any Sekiro the hardest it really wants you to use the parry system and if you don't the game almost impossible. If Jeremy dose fine fun in souls games would love him and platy play the easiest souls like game Code Vein seeing it made to be played co-op and Jeremy will love it because of the big anime tits.
I have only ever watched platy vods so hearing mango time is weird but very funny.

I love seeing the torment happening but I think if they started with Bloodborne it might have been a bit easier to get into, or at least that is what it took for me. Otherwise I am greatly enjoying the Video and can't wait for more.

I hope some one reminds Jeremy or platy they have the key to let the thief out of prison. . . also not all items/rooms were explored. and lastly while the venom enemy are quicker to kill before transformed they only drop a item when transformed like the blue night they also don't resown if you killed them transform.
Honestly, compared to my first run at Bloodborne, this was fantastic. I'd love to see Jeremy not uninstall the game, but I fully understand him getting frustrated.
I mean, worst case scenario, Platy & Jeremy(maybe more?) do the seamless co-op mod for DS3, I'm sure Jeremy would be more interested in finishing the game that way.
