Such an underrated band with great music, outstanding performers, multilayered keyboards, athmospheric guitars etc... If you were there Live with the whole crew onstage then you must consider yourself Lucky at being at the center of the Universe in those days 🎸

This my daughter's phone. But I went to see them in 86 at Edinburgh Playhouse. Amazing. And I'm a Motorhead man.Always was. But Go West were brilliant. Metal rules though.

Thanks :-) Did you know? Back in the late 80's early 90's BT used this song for their TV advertising campaign :-)
This was (I think), the last tour Alan played with Go West before they broke up.
In 1988 he replaced Steve Topping (who had replaced Boon Gould) in Level 42.
The Staring At The Sun album followed plus Kate Bush's Sensual World in '89 but HIV was taking its toll on him.
He continued to work up until his death on the 19th of October 1989, his final song with Level 42 was Take Care Of Yourself, and his last ever recording was Kate's version of Rocket Man.
He was influenced by people like Ritchie Blackmore and Allan Holdsworth but had a style of his own.
He wasn't a popstar, he was a musicians musician and was/is respected by his peers in the industry.
He was a month short of his 36th birthday when he died (star sign Scorpio).
