If you like this sort of thing you should check out the Top Secret Drum Corps. They're from Basel Switzerland and they're phenomenal. Their drills are beautiful and their marches are so in sync. czcams.com/video/JHXNaYoguNU/video.html (One of my favorites)
Dude, the air in that room must have been reverberating so hard. Those guys were screaming at the tops of their lungs, and the drums were still five times as loud. Those drumbeats literally make your bones shake, even if you're sitting 50 feet away. I know, since I've been to a performance utilizing about 10 taiko drums. I can only imagine what hundreds of those would feel like.
Imagine being on the receiving end of an attack by a few thousand Samurai with these drums behind them. And all you have to defend yourself is a sword or spear in your hand to defend yourself! Screw this, I'm leaving!!
Django Fandango or be encouraged, fuck if I heard my enemy use this I would be exited as hell to face such a foe. Like our duel would be the thing of legends.
I was just imagining being there in person and how the vibrations from the drums would reverberate right through me. Cool. Kudos to whomever choreographed the drummers.
Are you kidding us? That is the loosest drum line I've ever heard. I mean there are so many it would be difficult to sound tight, but this is SO bad from a technical standpoint. Listen to some drum corps.
drum corps lol :) joe kemple go to a a kodo concert or go to japan selfdefense force military march festival and wait until the end to heard all those drum :) ( airforce, ground force , navy , province or division taiko work with each other in this type of huge drum line )
There is the reason why Japan was never invaded by European occupiers even when they combined forces! It only happened when the USA dropped the H bomb. I highly admire their samurai spirit and they are the most civilized citizens of the world today.
To be completely honest, Europeans never really tried to conquer them ... but the resisted the mongols, and twice! Unlike any other people in history. Might be these drums triggered the Typhoons ^^
It's more than that.. This type of music taps into something primal that links human beings together across cultural boundaries.. Its like the Maori Haka in that sense...
Heh, I've seen this video probably ten years ago, and recently during local Japanese culture days there was supposed to be a concert with Taiko drums, in the end there was a single small drum, that was cool but disappointing...
It’s magnificent! The sound hits through all your organs and hits your spine! I was transfixed at a street fair many decades ago: the larger drums take TREMENDOUS strength(& 2 drummers because it simply not possible For one person to hold for long)
I've always loved this kind of drumming, since I was a kid and saw a performance at a Japanese cultural center. It made a big impression on me 20 years ago and I still love it!
This is known as Taiko drumming.. The best known group that does this is Kodo which means heartbeat in Japanese but is truly stunning. It is a sport, a music, a profession, a life choice and it's wonderful!
Its a Kodo ( used on ancient war fields during samuraï battle, they were sending messages, encouraging soldiers and others stuff ) , go see "Kodo - "O-Daiko" - HD japanese drummers - Taiko" on youtube, its fucking awesome, they only get furious at 2:00, they're just warming up before )
Japanese drums or Taiko seem to be sound of human heart, in other words, joy, sorrow, love, anger etc. This performance has really touched me. Thank you for your nice video
Went to the Yamato "Drummers of Japan" about a week ago in Budapest and man all I can say that they are amazing!!! If anyone has the chance to go to these events, I would strongly recommend this kind of show! Will be above your expectation. You see it, hear it, but definitely FEEL it !!! :)
Agree completely - a big fan of Kodo which is a group that does Taiko druming like this and they have guys who basically do a half-sit up and hold that position while playing the drum, its insane.
I both love the clarity and the drums here. It states "This is a Japanese drumline!" and it IS a f***ing big Japanese drumline, just as it states! I´ve been drumming for over 30 years and I simply love these kind of things! Thanks for sharing!
blueray1969 Just like any other nation with strong warrior traditions in history like Spartans, Huns, Mongols, Aztecs, Tatars, Scandinavians (in viking times at least) :)
nondorian And Russians. Most of their war prisoners were sent to Siberia and people can die of cold out there. The daily average in one Siberian village is −46.4 Celsius in January. AVERAGE.
So you'd be scared by a few drums? Sorry but that'd be nothing compared to a few regiments of men with muskets at the ready fearlessly marching towards you in a neat and orderly long line to the tune of drums, flutes or bagpipes. Plus you'd need a lot of people playing a lot of Japanese drums to have the affect to make you run away, the more people drumming means the less people fighting.
This is so incredible and a testament to the greatness of the human race and the precision, dedication and heart that makes Japan such a fantastic nation!
Not just A God but GODS more than one. Though they are not Gods per-say. They are Spirits that maintain the flow of life in Japan. You piss one spirit off. Your life may turn to misfortune. At least with that spirit. Now if you tick off more than one. Well...your afterlife will be terrible.
Imagine an American High School Band with a drum like this! I LOVE LOUD war drums and tribal drums from the Pacific Islands. The Japanese Group KODO is fantastic. American schools would do themselves a favor if they took lessons from the Japanese. Other tribal druming I like is Native American Indian drumming and chanting- singing too. But it is nothing like this! This is also the problem with the military today - NO HUGE LOUD WAR DRUMS to let the enemy you're coming and you're about to kick their ass!
My God, I can only imagine what this is like live. I have been to both Yamato and Kodo performances live, and you don't just hear the drums, you FEEL them. But this...wow. What I wouldn't give to be there live
Kodo, Yamato, DADADADAN Tenko and other do regular world tours... a real experience to see them live! I've seen Kodo and Yamato twice, and DADADADAN once here in Holland in the past 5-6 years.
What a full house!!! I have never see like this before .. totally bloody amazing. It reminds me of making new things but it's different rather than other drumline teams in the world. But at the moment, Top Secret is the best team in the world right now because they're also talented too.
Where perfection works wonders, great to see and listen, hard work pays off and its a delight to see and enjoy, keep the good work up, congratulations.
Exactly, and not only boosting the soldiers' morale, but striking fear in those towards whom they were marching. The sound would fill a valley. On top of the sound and vibrations, they'd be thinking, "If those guys have that many just playing drums, how many are going to attack us?"
Suffice to say, I am kind of glad Japan stayed inward for as long as it did, those drums alone would have terrified many an army of Europe and I don't fancy a pikeman's chances against a Samurai. Epic display.
I'm in awe. They don't just play the drums but do a choreography. They all follow the rhythm with no conductor wagging a baton in front. Amazing.
Neldidellavittoria Just watched this video! I too am in awe!! What an amazing thunderous performance and syncronized as well! Encore?! 👏👏👏💓

japanese culture is so disciplined........need to learn from em
We need a mix of discipline and individualism
Imagine being a soldier in the Japanese Army in the late 1500's,
and hearing these drums while marching towards the enemy.
Quite some morale boost.
American drumlins would have a heart attack when they saw the guys step off with their right leg to play on a different drum.
***** Not the Cadets though!
true...
drumlins sounds like chicken legs wrapped in dough and boiled into a dumpling.
Dude, the air in that room must have been reverberating so hard. Those guys were screaming at the tops of their lungs, and the drums were still five times as loud. i come to this video every few weeks. man, it never fails to give me goosebumps.
That isn't percussion ... that is thunder manifest.
Imagine being on the receiving end of an attack by a few thousand Samurai with these drums behind them. And all you have to defend yourself is a sword or spear in your hand to defend yourself! Screw this, I'm leaving!!
Now imagine snare drums and the skirling of pipes.
Zharra Vreedmunn your a weirdo I'm japanese I find that offensive screw you
More like an earthquake!
Pope Pop too soon
Imagine having this in your warband, the enemy will tremble in fear
Django Fandango or be encouraged, fuck if I heard my enemy use this I would be exited as hell to face such a foe. Like our duel would be the thing of legends.
@Phoenix Why are you even here?
They say "don't mess with Texas" but I wouldn't mess with these guys...wow. Discipline, grit, grace.
Those three words perfectly described their performance.
Crying~ this deserves better sound quality :'(
And better camera work : (
Well, it's posted on 2011
Japanese drum line posted by AMANO Jun ichi
Can't post the link but try that.
@@angelatrinh1156 .. see my above post

This is amazing. The big Thunder drums in the back are awesome!!! A strong heartbeat.
If i ever raise an army im hiring these guys
this music makes me motivated to go wage war somewhere
alvin koay po
I'd love to have a go at the actual drumming :)
That WAS the original purpose. Taiko drumming originated as a way to both motivate and order troops.
Keyon Hutson not true..taiko drums were made for prayer..
It's things like this that makes me realize my school days were shit.
so true..
0:44 - I love how the small drummers on the right bow down when the bigger drums came in
Wow those base drums sound like thunder!!! I would love to be there!!!
i could absolutely cry if i was there in person this is just awesome!! wonder how those men most feel being apart of this
I would totally want to be the "bass drum" player. That drum is thunder.
Are you kidding us? That is the loosest drum line I've ever heard. I mean there are so many it would be difficult to sound tight, but this is SO bad from a technical standpoint. Listen to some drum corps.

No, it's the quality of this video that is shit not the drummers.
Steve Steele iii
they should make another drumline movie...drumline the japanese version. itd be epic
+amouralizee Calling Toshiro Fletcher!

Completely surrounded by ocean, largely isolated might have been a factor too 😆
Close your eyes. Just the sound of this resembles thunder. Japan's culture is very powerful, indeed.
😌🇯🇵
It's more than that.. This type of music taps into something primal that links human beings together across cultural boundaries.. Its like the Maori Haka in that sense...
Just ONE reason I love the Japanese !
Going to a Taiko concert is definitely in my bucket list. i want to feel that power coursing through my body

Absolutely spectacular. I have no other words.
Best Taiko on a massive scale I have seen.
Their so efficient with switching to each drum, it's truly spectacular.
Wish I was there...such discipline and coordnation. just beautiful.

HOLY CRAP LOOK AT THE SIZE OF DAT BASE DRUM!!
SO AWESOME RIGHT
I'm all bout dat bass.

r u kidding me? bass drum? its a taiko drum
Thank God that you are so goddamned smart!!!!!!!!!!
I'd have LOVED to have been there in person hearing all that!
Japanese drums or Taiko seem to be sound of human heart, in other words, joy, sorrow, love, anger etc. This performance has really touched me. Thank you for your nice video
taiko are the only drums that should be war drums.
Now THAT'S a drum line!!!!!!!Thanks for sharing. I've never seen anything quite like this. Incredible!!!!
o_O this is one of the most impressive things I've ever heard!

especially when the sound became near and near

nondorian And Russians. Most of their war prisoners were sent to Siberia and people can die of cold out there. The daily average in one Siberian village is −46.4 Celsius in January. AVERAGE.
That's not enough! I would want a combination of Taiko drums and bagpipes! Those enemy troops not running would be paralyzed in fear.
So you'd be scared by a few drums? STOP INTIMIDATING ME ! :(

ha ha ha
Is that a joke?
That was AWESOME! Must have been incredible to see in person.
must have been absolutely intense live.
This just opened up a new realm of music for me. Literally changed my life.
one word comes to mind... discipline
Thats taiko... its not a game they play what they live.
So awesome! Would love to see this live!

I have great admiration for this National Treasure!
I guess they will probably show Taiko drums performance in 2020 Summer Olympics opening ceremony.
Like Beijing Olympics ???? I hope not...
yessss please!
This Is Definitely The Best And Awesome Taiko Drum Line Video 😍😍😍😍
...beautiful sound!
My God, I can only imagine what this is like live. I have been to both Yamato and Kodo performances live, and you don't just hear the drums, you FEEL them. But this...wow. What I wouldn't give to be there live
sounds like it comes from a thundergod!
That's the point
What is it about the drums that is electrifying! Doesn't get boring! This would be the place for a cranky baby to be enthralled!
Must have sounded AMAZING in person
Amazing culture! Amazing talents! 🙏🏼💜
Goosebumps ~
It takes so much strength and passion to play something like this. It's very well executed!
0:42 NOW THAT'S A DRUM
So many of them, and their movements are perfectly in sync, especially when going from formation to formation. what skill.
Sounds like an army of horsemen galloping towards the battlefield preparing to demolish and execute anything they call foe
This is stunning!! I can't move my sight away from those drums!!
Needs more drum.
+Wotsma Naym I don't know. Maybe some cowbell?
Glockenspiel
Literally brings tears to my eyes.
Another Japanese Martial Art
absolutely fantastic
Passion expressed through music!!!
Japan is healthy country .japanese is a healthy and brave people mother nature damaged them so many times .they are still survive .and grow .
Fascinating! Perfection!
FANTASTICO! !!!
The Japanese make everything they do look so easy. This was truly awesome. Bravo!
imagine this mixed up with a New Sealand haka.
Whew! What a workout! Sweating just watching it ...
What you are seeing is NOT a Japanese drum line. It is a Taiko drum performance. Again, NOT a Japanese drum line. Get the nomenclature correct.
The Mongols weren't hit by hurricanes. They heard this and ran.
so thats how japan get earthquakes.

Those bass drums are crazy good at low frequency . Great drum line .!! ...TY poster , enjoyed the show and sound .
PURE THUNDER, love this drumming...
i cant even imagine seeing something like this live
I can't imagine the amount of noise from all this, yet, Outstanding!!
Where perfection works wonders, great to see and listen, hard work pays off and its a delight to see and enjoy, keep the good work up, congratulations.

Martial Arts has a big play in this. The forms. Yells. Strength. Discipline. It's impeccable.
It's like martial arts with drums! AMAZING!
there are moments in time around the world i wish i could have seen, this is one of them
This is so great. I cannot think of any word.
Unbelievable!!!!!! Just FANTASTIC!!!!!
Absolutely Brilliant performance
When I looked at the search bar and thought "I fancy hearing some epic war drums", this is exactly what I had in mind. Would love to hear this live.
Suffice to say, I am kind of glad Japan stayed inward for as long as it did, those drums alone would have terrified many an army of Europe and I don't fancy a pikeman's chances against a Samurai. Epic display.
WOW! Totally Awesome ! I've never seen anything quite so wonderful!
Wow. Just look at those BEAUTIFUL Drums ! ! ! Are we talking "RICHTER SCALE" and what incredible tone qualitys ! ! !
ok, well that was spectacular. Thx for sharing.
Thunderous. Wonderful. Love it.
Just wow! That large bass drum is huge! I totally respect the discipline and synchronicity of these warriors.
