Data has emotions he just doesn’t realize it because they’re Android emotions and not human emotions, therefore they work differently and he spends all his time trying to feel human emotions so he doesn’t realize he’s already feeling things in his own way and I will die on this hill.
Not to mention that self doubt and feelings of inadequacy are already very human experiences, so feeling like he is a mere immitation and cannot actually be human just shows how human he really is. The humans all know they're perfectly human because they were already born as humans, but Data always gets the feeling that he is somehow an impostor among the humanoids when the whole time he is already very human

Data might not have allistic affect displays, but he absolutely has affect - whether you want to call it "emotions", "moods", or something else - and it shows through if you know where to look.

If you like the plot lines Data has of trying to be more human... maybe the old Archie Sonic comics might be worth a look. I find Nicole’s character has the same feel, and they likely took a little inspiration from Data.
