What the hill has gone wrong now 😂
CamHSquad! The ratchet thing is slightly used but it works😂
Thats fine with me! Thanks again, Tony. You’re the man
damn mans came through w the gifts... its ryobi but gifted ryobi is better than milwaukee/snapon
Thanks Tony!
I installed my flex fuel kit about 9 months ago. No issues or noises. I used the same factory fuel lines cuz PRL states that they are compatible with all stock fuel lines. Maybe the noise is just your upgraded vibrating and since it's a thicker and harder material it is hitting metal around it. Try swapping the upgraded line you put with the stock one and see if the noise goes away.
Oh oh due date coming up?!? Damn good luck to you both on this new chapter! My little girl is already 6 months old, crazy. Should be fun!
Tony is the man for sending those
Should have routed that fuel line behind the bracket near the HPFP other otherwise the vibration from the car is going to rub a hole in that fuel line. Happened to a friend of mine.
Tony came in clutch!
🚙👍🏼😀 I always love the videos!! I remember that time you came to my home town and we drove to another city in my fk8 to buy the Mustang you bought a couple years ago! I had a blast! !! You are a genuine guy on camera and just as much in person! I feel fortunate that I got to meet ya! !! Keep up the phenomenal content and hope you guys can get that baby born so poor Vivian Cana get feelin better! I hope you get the issue fixed on the Type R and get the it running great soon!! Have an amazing week ahead and thanks for making such entertaining content! 🚙😀👍🏼🙏🏼
hey Shaun! That was a fun time. How are you doing?
@@Camhill182 I am starting to feel quite a bit better!! 2 months ago i was life flighted to a hospital to a bigger hospital because I had sepsis and my chest cavity was full of infection and fluid and it collapsed my lung pressing on my heart! I appreciate ya and hope life is treating you good! Enjoy the week ahead and keep up the incredible content! 🙏🏼🚙😀👍🏼
@@Shono731 holy shit dude! Im glad you got taken care of and are doing better now
@@Camhill182 thank you brother!!! 🙏🏼👍🏼🚙😀
Cam’! You’re back!!
The louder ticking is probably the injectors running a bigger millisecond but that should only be needed when the ethanol content is up
you’re pretty brave for installing this on your own lmao, I would’ve just taken it to a shop. Much respect for that, i hope you figure out that weird sound cam! I also want to get a flex fuel kit but will avoid this kit if it does that rattle noise lol hopefully other kits don’t rattle like that.
You think this is intense? Wait until you do the fuel upgrade with injectors, fuel pumps… I’d rather swap the turbo 4 times.
@@MuffinMan0521 🤣 i can already imagine the intensity
What does this install do? A noob checkin in here
@@Beaumoi pretty much it gives you the chance to run E 85 gas, and allows for a bit more horsepower gain
@@Beaumoi tu use e85 which is has really high grade octane and tune for more power
It's been over a year since I installed mine, but I remember having to check a few options in hondata
Did you have a foam or something over the HPFP prior to the install. I had a sound canceling foam on my pump and when i took it off the pump was very loud. But I don’t usually hear it inside the car.
I’ve heard that upgraded hoses causes the tick to be louder so might wanna switch to the other one.
Did you do the fuel line mod? (drilling out bigger hole for higher flow) When I got phearable stage3 e85 tune, I sent my datalog to phearable then was told to do the fuel line mod, was a pain in ass but worth it.
ask marco. But i believe that tick is normal with the flex fuel. i believe is the extra fuel rushing in not engine noise.
Tony is a real G!
I had an FK8 from carvana for the 7 day trial period and it made that exact same sound, so yours definitely isn't the only one. 99% sure it is the HPFP ticking but not sure why it gets crazy loud compared to stock with only the addition of a new fuel line and flex sensor.
Im on prl flex fuel kit aswell no wifi and it does not suppost to sound like that
The line is fine the way you put it on. you also dont need to put it in the brackets. That sound may just be the Direct Injection of the engine. Mine ticks on idol but not while driving.
The flex fuel kit makes a louder chirping sound. It's normal This happened to me on my Si and I was worried about it. Sacrifices you need to make for a faster car lol
The Hondata app never worked for me, just know if your not making usual boost your E mix is off. Also the noise doesn’t sound good, I installed mine myself and never had any issues. Check if it’s turning down by the intake
Yeah that sound would drive me nuts!! A high tingling sound is audible.
I’m not very mechanically inclined so this is a pointless comment but was the step you skipped at the start an important step of unplugging the fuse while the cars were on?
Well, it’s obviously fuel related lol and I wonder if that thickened cable used for the fuel line to the engine and the tune is what's causing the noise. Is it possible to change out that fuel line cable with the OEM one to see if the sound persists? I dunno if it’s a good idea to run the OEM cable over the PRL kit one tbh with the tune but maybe you found this comment somewhat insightful.
Cameron still have OEM fuel line bracket, the one that you took out to put the prl flex fuel kit ,like to buy it
@camhill182
If you are on civicx I can send you some photos of how I have my line ran. Looks super clean and no bending required!
Ect 2 make sure it’s plugged into the radiator under neath to show percentage
it is
Cool. We don't have E85 here. Or any E...:/
What do you think of the fuel pump upgrade though? I read it's the one reason this engine doesn't rev higher.
It's also listed as the 3rd most effective mod on the fk8 wiki tuning guide.
Yeah fuel pump upgrade is definitely worth it, its the main limitation currently on the fk8. U also need valve spring kit to rev higher or u will get valve float. Also ideally to go turbo and cams to make power up top
I think its a good mod if you want to make more power. I dont see myself messing with this car to that extent, though
I hate my stock engine cover. Have you noticed any water pooling on the engine during rain?
I am using the same line but on my 11th gen Si, w Phearable flex fuel tune and no sound at all. It sounds loud as hell on yours 😫
I don't know exactly what the sound is but on direct injection engines, a lot of fuel pumps tick like that, on my GTI the HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) ticks in that manner, not as loud as your car though
Yea for sure, it is definitely a characteristic of DI cars, but you can tell when something is off on your car. Its never made this sound before
Can you make a video on how to pair a MP3 player to a FL8 if it’s possible as
There was a metal bracket you disconnected, did you attach it back after the switch of the plugs
Yes I did
Weather the task be big or small do it right or not at all!!!
if your not getting a ect2 reading check the tune make sure its enabled properly and/or make sure the plug is fully seated into the radiator (that's the ECT2 plug). You may also have forgot to bolt the bracket back that had the secondary o2 sensor attached to it, I can't tell you may have removed the bracket all together. The noise may be from one of the O2 sensors harness hitting something if you removed that bracket that holds them. Good stuff though!
Okay thanks. I’m gonna check everything tomorrow, as well as ask John Vega about how to read the ethanol percentage
@@Camhill182 His tune is on my shortlist of next mods after watching your videos, the reaction you had after loading his tune was great lol
I’m thinking that the ECT2 sensor’s plug is where the flex fuel analyzer sends in the reading of ethanol, it sort of hijacks that voltage input, then Hondata tells the ECU “look at this voltage for the ethanol content, instead of the redundant coolant temp”
I could be wrong, but I think you have to give up the second coolant temp gauge in order to use the kit. Feel free to message/mail me if I can explain that any better Cam
@@djintu yep exactly, that second temp reading is used for like cold start check, temp range issues and fan control but hondata just uses ECT1 sensor for that if your using ECT2 for ethanol signal I believe
@@djintu this is how it works, it steals the ect2 connector to send the ethanol data. Problem is you MUST have a proper tune or it will be a nightmare since now ECT2 isn't ECT2 lol
You gotta change some things on your Hondata tune! A box that you check for ect2 disable or something like that, as well as enabling flex fuel. But the rattle sounds like my wastegate rattle, but louder. Maybe your connector rattling by the charge pipes, you hitting gas it’s leaning back into the space but chilling against the charge pipe
The settings for the Phearable Flex Fuel tune are locked, and I assume John enabled all necessary functions
So I’m not sure why I can’t see the ethanol content
@@Camhill182 sent you a fb post about that shrilling noise. But you would be fine with the oem line for a while as well
I bay prl flex fuel kit after my mechanic install that not working properly he’s said was the sensor I removed from my type r 2021 I never installed again
never had that sound ever when i went e30
Have you listened to the engine after the insulator for the High Pressure Fuel pump and/or the engine cover being taken off? And to answer your question, no. I haven't had any sound like that.
this situation is unique to the post-Flex Fuel install
Even if your ap doesn’t see the ethanol your tablet/laptop can, just open flash pro manager, click the lightning bolt to start data logging, and then open your sensors list.
I’m running the same PS3 tune and I gots no clicks bro, sounds like maybe your pumps are cycling up to accommodate the ethanol? You could always flip it back to stock tune, and see if it goes away.
I couldn’t duplicate that sound on a PS3 tune, stock, or on my own tunes, might be hardware.
Update:
I’m running the V3 kit, and didn’t have to get that alternative hose, that could be why I couldn’t duplicate.
Guess you should have sold me yours and got that new model,
then I’d be the one having to troubleshoot it lol!
thanks for the info. Today is troubleshoot day. I'll see what I can figure out
Isn’t the ECT2 sensor on the passenger side of the radiator near the fog light?
I don’t know if it’s different on other years, but on my 21 it’s on Drivers
Let’s gooooooo
That buzzing/ticking sounds like either the High Pressure Fuel Pump, or the Injectors...
It was supposed to stutter for 10 seconds after the installation because of the lack of fuel. You're supposed to remove the fuse with the car on
I had to force the fuel line into the flex fuel sensor for my si. Guess it’s normal
little pro tip put a bolt in the fuel line or something like that and then no more leaky leaky
From what I hear when you add ptfe hoses they will cause the sound your saying. Happened to me but its worth it because the oem hose is smaller than the ptfe hoses, definitely felt the car push more fuel.
Interesting. I havent been able to find pretty much anything in the forums about this issue
I’ve been running the same v2 kit with the upgraded line for months. No noise like that. Cam you should double triple check everything!
@@Camhill182 it all really depends on which lines you buy they all fit differently, and if you properly install as they show in the instructions
Get that girl a cheeseburger and an induction already!
🍔
That ticking sound is normal, mines did the same after I installed my flex fuel, been driving it like that for the past year or so and no issues
Thanks for the feedback
First thing is contact your tuner. I don't mess with flexfuel, but your tuner should be familiar with it.
sounds like the high pressure fuel pump
17:00 😮
It’s the hpfp you took the noise dampening material
I bet that nosie is that upgrade fuel line to put in.
U should’ve installed ur Flex fuel kit at a shop dat knows & has experience installing them. Or someone u know dat has done it B4. U don’t wanna mess wit fuel system bro. U know
CamHSquad!
😁
Hey you figured it out??? Hit me up if you still have same problem. I had same issues. I had to figure it out before John Vega could read my data logs.
I have not figured it out yet. What was the issue with yours?
Broo wtf, I was looking at a Ryobi impact wrench on the Home Depot website while watching this video and then 8:08 came up. I was like wtf lol crazy timing.
Its fate
I'm pretty sure there's another way to route that PTFE fuel line that is super stiff. I'm not sure you had to use the same exact path as the original. Just a suggestion...it's hard to see on video.
I might just have to take this to a mechanic who knows how to work on FK8s
@@Camhill182 Hey, if you do, mind letting me know how it goes and who you took it to? Cause I'm moving to the Tampa(ish) area myself, and might need occasional work on my FL5.
Fuel line probably..
that’s why you pull the fuse while the car is running
Im not sure what you thought was going to happen from just pulling a fuse. The idea is to pull it while the car is running and it will use up all that fuel in the lines and you wouldnt have made a mess
not true. all the install videos I watched still had a shit load of fuel leak out, doing it the "right way"
@@Camhill182 Its possible. But what was pulling the fuel pump fuse supposed to do while the car just sat there? If the car wasnt going to get started there was no reason to pull the fuse either. Could have just skipped that all together. No harm done. I have done about a dozen FF kits on mustangs, WRX, BRZs and running the fuel system as dry as possible definitely makes a difference.
what does the flex fuel kit do ?
It allows your car to read ethanol content in your gas, so if you run E85 fuel you can run a special tune making more power. If you mix in regular 93 gas eventually the flex fuel sensor will detect that there is not enough ethanol to run that tune and will usually change over to a 93 tune.
@@Tool0GT92 thank you so much!!
Damn that’s pretty loud, doesn’t sound right 😳
No siree bob
But why won’t you show your mileage? Over 100k miles?
I have no idea what you’re talking about. 34,000 miles on car
Pretty normal for it to be louder with installing the flex fuel kit
Yea not that loud
@@angelhernandez-ln8ik I dont even hear what hes talking about, but the Di is louder with the flex fuel kit
it almost sounded like high pressure fuel pump
Think about buying an FL5 bro
I would love to get one. Don’t know if I could afford it though
Don't quit the day job!
sounds fine to me will check mine and let you know
Thanks!
😂 almost every video “raise your voice” we can hear her just fine she literally holding the camera
I always have to adjust the audio when she speaks. So yes, you can hear her after the audio corrections
Hey cam
Hey Jojo!
@@Camhill182 keep up the amazing content
Are you overreacting lol. Do you really want me to answer that haha. 😂
What would Master Chief do...?
Master Chief would finish the fight
Hit it with your purse 👛
Follow directions.. you messed up the fuse pull RIGHT OFF THE BAT.. why?! its there for a reason.. start over.... also.. we all know.. theres no way you put those silver bracket washer things on... you didnt want to.. said wed call you on it.. and then next clip is just you tightening it down n pluggin in a hose lol... I woulda done that too
ummm nope? I installed the bracket washers. weird comment dude
But Cam. Both sides of the coupler identify as female. 🤣
I understand this is a joke, but nah bro I don’t play that shit 😎
You should be filming this and Vivian work on the car because clearly you don't know what the hell you're doing LOL.
disconnected the battery + side first
