    Well said. Jada was NOT in danger and Chris Rock is a PAID professional comedian. Finally, it's said just how it should be- Thank you Chuck!!!! NO one should be supporting Will and it's sick that people (celebrities included) are. Violence over a verbal joke? Sad. Chris Rock handled this way better than 90% of people would. Most respect to Chris. Alopecia is NOT a life threatening condition to top it all off.

    • @gmunden1
      @gmunden1 Před 2 lety +31

      I agree. The audience enabled him with that shameless standing ovation. People feeling "sorry" for Jada did not even understand what alopecia is. It is not a life-threatening condition. Princess Caroline of Monaco experienced it several years ago. Her hair has since grown back. For a person who opened intimate details of her personal life to the world and said she didn't care, is suddenly offended by a harmless joke??? Give me a break! Will has an anger management issue because he has hit someone before during a press event in Europe a few years ago. If the Academy truly believes in the code of conduct rules in their organization, then they should have enforced the rules and had security usher him out of the building. What if Chris Rock fell and sustained a concussion??? Would they have done something then? Where was security? I have no respect for Will Smith.

Most parents now in the aftermath of this will be so happy to encourage their children into a profession of stand up comic' where you get paid to insult or ridicule others for a living.' And not to forget as many are claiming and holding to high esteem stand up as the last frontier of free speech' and implicit in that 'free speech' is the blurred line between what is 'funny' and what is an 'insult'. That Rock himself said, that there is a list which the academy provides, as a guideline as to what cannot be used as jokes is itself a joke - where then is this holy grail of 'free speech' if there is a 'list' of no-no's? Making fun of someone's illness is not funny. Physically assaulting and cussing is not acceptable. This fracas happened because of a mistimed, inappropriate, personal dig at someone. However much we want to overplay the assault and underplay the diss is a testament to our own hypocritical thinking and biases.

      The Academy has the obligation to protect the safety of everyone in that room, not just Chris Rock. When someone assaulted someone that person needs to be escorted out the room. There are no excuses. Can you imagine if Will Smith picked up a chair and threw it across the room and injured someone else who sat nearby? You can't take chances when someone is that angry because their behaviors are too unpredictable.
