    This is an excellent interview on how Franco-Nevada grew into what it is today. It would be great to have a series of similar interviews on the histories of other great mining companies like Wheaton Precious Metals, Barrick, Newmont, Agnico-Eagle and Rio Tinto

    This is so refreshing! So much of what we see and hear on CZcams and social media is all hype, no substance, and in many cases, pure fabrication. This interview was on a caliber of traditional journalism. Pierre was very forthcoming and fully transparent, with the only exception being no mention of Cobre Panama. I'm assuming this is because the situation is still fluid. Well done gents!

    Well done James and Pierre, very well done! The story about Goldstrike was riveting. I couldn't help but think what happened to the person who sold a asset for $2 million which was effectively worth billions. Another suggestion for you is to get Seymour on or both together.

      @@BloorStreetCapital Hi, Jimmy... While. I don't know specific names, I can think of some interesting storylines: Trilogy Metals and the wrench US regulators (and some unexpected First Nation opposition) have tossed into their proposed operation... Western Copper & Gold and their partnering with Mitsubishi and Rio Tinto, and the infrastructure they're building (and how they got the stake from Capstone Copper)... Speaking of Capstone, they have some interesting tech coming on line for recovering more metal from tailings. They're in a jurisdiction where water is becoming an issue for water-intensive industries like mining. What's that like? I'll keep in touch and will stay subscribed!

    Black swan events are those events that by definition, cannot be prepared for. These are events that are completely outside or opposite of your world view. These are events that you think are impossible. If you "prepare" for their occurrence, they are bad things, but not black swan events.

    • @BloorStreetCapital
      @BloorStreetCapital  Před 6 měsíci +1

      It's Jimmy Connor, thanks for the comment and for taking the time to view our content! Most gold bugs haven't taken the time to study it in depth just like crypto bros haven't really taken the time to examine the merits of gold but both own each asset for the same reasons.

    • @BloorStreetCapital
      @BloorStreetCapital  Před 7 měsíci

      Thanks for the comment and for taking the time to view our content! Agreed! It doesn't matter how good management is or the asset if the asset is based in a high risk jurisdiction like Mongolia, DRC or Panama.

  • @reggieduquesnoy

    Refreshing and disarmingly honest: chutzpah, brass balls and a lassondian "curvy" Lady at your side. The holy trinity. The real Goldfinger, though with oil & gas in the mix, fingers in a few other pies also. But FN keeps it simple, nothing cryptoic about it.
    In French, la sonde means both a drill and a probe; if you know the drill and have probity on your side, you've got it made! Well, nearly.
    Nice one, Jimmy. But would have asked him about Panama. 1/5 of the portfolio revenue from one asset, even with 400 mines is not exactly balanced diversification.

      Thanks for the comment and for taking the time to view our content! Mining is a tough business especially when dealing with foreign governments. It remains to be seen what will happen at CP but the great thing about this model is that they have a large diversified portfolio. As an investor, I see this as an opportunity with an long dated call option.
