It's the rarest delightful contralto I've ever heard. A girl at the age of 18 showed the highest class of singing. She is artistic, natural and talented. This is not often seen and heard, agree. Elvis, I'm sure, would be delighted with such a powerful version of his song. In general, this version would be good for some great and dramatic film about love.

This is a copy of Elvis's song but called dark version which was sung by a woman in 2019 but Diana transforms famous songs into her masterpieces . Wait until you hear her sing Wicked Game or Human or Derniere Dance (119 million views on U Tube ) in French and River in Russian from when she was only 14 . This one is only a week or so old from her singing competition she competing in now in Russia ,just started .

They have the best sound and staging etc and she really performs incredibly in them like you just saw . @@Reckyj She actually learned to sing before she could talk properly. Diana was abused and abandoned by her birth mother when she was three. She was adopted by a caregiver from the orphanage at age five but could not really talk so it was recommended she take singing lessons to learn. Now we have the gorgeous Diana, she has an amazing voice but an even more beautiful spirit. She really is a very special young lady.

Here are three reasons why Diana doesn't sound human.
First, she is a dramatic contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich.
Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She won the genetics lottery, and it's been called the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below)
When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune.
And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion.

as if last time we figured out that it's not about genetics. Genetics and a low voice are hermaphrodites, or the development of the larynx genetically as in men, but Diana is a woman and the reason for her voice cannot be won in the genetic lottery, but the injuries that Diana experienced up to 3 years old, which caused the rapid growth of the larynx and the maturation of her voice.
@@monolit73 I understood that she has a larger larynx than usual and that it's somewhat visual to the eye. You, apparently, don't believe people can be physically different. We don't come from a rubber stamp with a same size everything. Everyone is special from everyone else in so many different ways. We all have our own talents and physical differences. We just have to find them. I look at it as Diana found her's.
Part of the harmonics is due to a High Arched Palate. It creates a resonating space many people don't have. It's also where that smokey quality comes from.
This is a Television show that has 9 weeks of singing a song in a different genre each week and your peers rank the singers each week, no judges, so it's more of a TV show than a contest so to speak. She filmed it during a break from School. She's still a teen student at the largest and oldest independent theatrical arts school in Russia, GITIS (The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts), located in Moscow. For precision this isn't the cover of Elvis but the cover of the cover by Tommee Profitt feat. Brooke (2017) in D minor (Tommee Profitt is a great USA songwriter, producer specially in the music of the TV series). This russian girl (18y.o.) with a difficult childhood (abused from the mother that she left her on the bus stop with the broken shoulder when was 3 y.o. and that, after the short period in orphanage, was adopted from a woman) learned to speak with the music e then won a lot of competitions. This is a Talent show for winners. The songs are distributed to the 9 entrants from the Production: (9 weeks, 9 songs, 9 different genres). This was the first round that she won.

Growing up in my childhood with Elvis as the biggest star, I agree with you Reckyj. you can't compare this to the original. This is so superior , this should be the new standard for this song. In these competitions, you have to stay under a time limit too, think if this was just her and no contest.

Diana uses many vocal techniques rarely used in pop music (like overtones, yodel, and some from lyric chant....). The one that seems to amaze people the most is multitonal voice. The root notes are enriched with powerful harmonics which can give the impression that there are several overlapping voices or an artificial effect which gives this result.
This technique is used in Slavic folk music, like Bulgarian vocal groups or artists like Pelageya (czcams.com/users/OlegSemyonov73videos), the Russian folk diva. I cannot tell you exactly how these artists achieve this result, I was just told that it is linked to the simultaneous use of the different resonators of the human body and that such a mastery of the voice and of the breath with such a fluidity requires years of work, Diana has been singing on stage and has been taking singing and performing arts lessons since the age of 6!
This broadcast is "You're Great!" ("You are Super"), a song contest reserved for children who have had a difficult start in life. This is the case of Diana who was mistreated and ended up in an orphanage at 3 years old.
