Starting from the back is the recipe for a good race Dave.
I've started 12,000+ races this way, from the back or the box, very enjoyable racing once the wreckers are cleaned up.
Not gonna win many, but most are a ton o fun.

My SR has also taken a nose dive after racing this series haha but one race on the Nurburgring with only 2 off tracks and I jumped from 3.4 D class straight to C class haha for one race!

I'm surprised to hear you had such low FPS during that race but I assume it was because it was a night race at Daytona.
I watched a couple of videos on YT by Tommy Brandon on tuning the Nvidia control panel and iRacing graphics settings and managed to squeeze quite a bit of performance from my PC which I'm happy about.

Try racing it on an HP Reverb G2(one of the highest resolution VR headsets in the world). I have a Radeon RX 6900 XT and even I dropped to about 38 fps. I fixed it by turning off the lighting filter(the drop down menu right under "Number of Lights"), as well as turning the number of lights down as far as I could. I mostly get 60ish fps in VR now on that track when there are several cars around me, and 90(max) when there aren't.

A pleasure to be in the same race as you Dave! After a clean race and only a 1x for cutting the bustop once, the guys braking right after the checkered flag gave me a 4x and I lost safety rating :/, brutal track for SR this week.

Haven't got a GT4 car yet but should early next week as need if you league racing but will then be able to join the series. Good race Dave and it looked like you were the only one with 0x. That colour those Aussie cars was awful especially with nothing else on it.

Regarding your low frame rate issue at the start, I've only recently started using overlays (currently on Racelabs). Since starting to use them, I've had a horrible experience with frame rates regardless of which one I used. When the overlays are off, there's no issues. Took me weeks to find the culprit. It was GeForce Experience. Uninstalled that (didn't use it anyway) and my frames are back up. Its a known fps killer. If you have that installed, maybe you could try uninstalling it to see if that helps.
No I have never used it but I'll do some testing with the overlay 👍

@@steam-SMOKEY If you're not using overlays, you might not see a difference in your fps after you uninstall Experience.
There's something about running overlays and Experience together that causes issues.
In actuality, its not really fps that it affects. Your fps monitor may not change much if any. But it can induce micro-stutters so bad that it feels like a huge fps drop.
Basically, if you don't need Experience, get rid of it.

I'd like to suggest that Australians are simply awesome drivers to the point that even when drunk we outclass many others. Unfortunately a single viewing of Dashcam Owners Australia would reveal that to be a terrible lie.
