I had fun knocking on doors with no flowers to give. "Hi! Ok, bye!"
It's absolutely crazy how you can put this together with such a constraint and it still feels so polished! I think its such a relaxing idea perfect for kicking back and listening to music while playing
Super chill! I love it.
Thanks Goodgis!!
A cozy game about flowers is always welcome!
godot had a parallax background node all this time!? i wrote mines by hand in gdscript. damn.
Anyway I love this man, this felt really cozy. I think you nailed the concept pretty damn good!
So many helpful nodes - hard to keep track of them for sure
It shows that not a lot is needed to make something cool and polished ^_^
Well done
It really is so cute and comfy! Not to mention the polished feel it has. And that goes for the video too. Amazing stuff!
i love this concept! the idea of "cozy game" is something i never knew existed nor that i absolutely want it.
You've inspired me to make a similar game around the skateboarding. i never write a game in my life so this will be a learning experience. ive been following your projects for a long time now since the playdate stuff started.
Good luck!
@@SquidGodDev i can't believe this comment was only 3 months ago... feels like it was years ago! but i finally got a playdate and very excited to explore this world and making games.
The library of "games" for the playdate is truly unique and inspiring. between the beautiful artwork, music and gameplay they feel more like movies or comic book sometimes... it;s truly wonderful seeing such a wide range of styles and executions
i actually double took at the thumbnail because I thought it WAS a downscaled R/S/E opening lol. Anyways this is really cool and puts scope on limited time into perspective because I narrowly missed features in the Bullet Hell game jam that I deemed necessary to submit, but could have re-prioritized or curbed my scope to make it. I'm convinced I need to make a dev video too!
You should make one! A bullet hell jam seems pretty interesting
Brilliant! I love the cute style of the game.
This is such a nice idea! Glad you found the parallax node, it saves a bit of time 😆 The necessary minimal audio works really well with the graphics and gameplay. I love the potion idea too, like the flip side of KiKi’s delivery service
I love this! I personally enjoy your non-playdate focused videos but you always do a great job making games regardless. It's really inspiring to me!
Super cute! I like the vibe a lot. Nice work.
Just a brief attempt at adding a lose condition (takes some of the cosy away though):
Add 3 heart containers, starting full. Each house you ignore lower it by half a heart. Each house you give flowers to raises it by one. Add some indicator outside the house for how many flowers they would take, like each toy means a child, every bike or car is an adult. Now you can strategize about which houses to skip and which ones to give flowers to.
Something that would be cosy would be to have the screen lock on to the last house (whatever that means) and have the bike ride on past. Fade out, then fade in to a cosy scene with hot cocoa.
Some interesting ideas! I like them
Another great video! The Pokemon Ruby intro was the exact vibe I got when I played it
ay great video!!! love the idea and graphics, i love the bush smacking 😂glad this video got the recognition it deserved
Absolutely love the presentation of the game, there's so much charm in such a tiny package. Also welcome to the Godooter gang!
Dude fucking go you! That's awesome :D And getting those sound effects and chuckin em in so last minute really helped polish it up too, genius ideas on those sounds effects too :D
I love the ramp-up of the bike and that you kept the name PotionDelivery. I also love that you open sourced it even if the Windows binary does run under WINE. It does print an error message at exit about leaked resources from ObjectDB, but I can't print the full error message here and it's probably something on my side anyway, it usually is. If you make a 3D version in the future, consider making the controls such that you use one button to get up to speed and then once at speed it would just keep going with a brake button to slow down. Maybe even add some enemies into the gameplay loop, like bees that want to prevent you from stealing the flowers. You could even have an armor mechanic with a bee suit.
The vibes on this game!
Actually, could have worked very well with the crank controlling the speed of the bike.
But the colors are a big part of the coziness of your game so I prefer this one! ☺
Wow so awesome! Love the vibes
It is really beautiful.
And it came out gorgeous!
Love it ! I'm amazed by so much creativity in less than 48 hours 😄 As a godot enthousiastic myself it impressed me a lot !
And as a composer, it makes me want to compose a small soundtrack for it
Love the vibes!
Keep working on it!
One suggestion would be to add some light piano for the music (something akin to BOTW)
you are amazing man
0:45 I thought he was smoking crack
Good guess
this is so cool !! :o
If you do decide to keep on working on it, you should try to eventually try to port it to the playdate, that would be very cool. Anyways, nice video, and i hope you have a good day :)
Really beautiful game and great video! Super cute :)
Thanks Obvious Dev :)
EDIT: The art style you came up with is amazing! It's super pretty and cute and I hope to see it again. Also, I definitely think this game would sound amazing with a Lofi soundtrack. I'm glad to see you're back to making games and videos after your trip. Can't wait to see more from you!
As someone who has no clue about colour theory, herself, my go-to when picking my own colours for a project is pretty much: Do all of these colours that I've chosen look good to me whenever I look at them all together? If not, which ones are the worst offenders and do I need to replace them or just get rid of them, entirely?
This method hasn't failed me yet!
That's a good method haha
@@SquidGodDev Thanks! I know I'm biased when saying this, but I feel like it works a bit better than relying on colour theory alone. If only because I personally think that people tend to get so caught up in the very concept of it, that they tend to think they need to know all the ins and outs of it before they can do anything about it. To the point they get too intimidated and just never start. Or just get overwhelmed with all the information available because the internet has everything. lol
0:46 I love how he plays with his plushies.
I can imagine this short bicycle mini-game being implemented as a seamless transition between towns in a larger game. For example, your character could be exploring an island, and as they travel between towns, the mini-game would start automatically.
Oh that's a cool idea - very imaginative
That’s cute! Good job! If you were going to develop it after you could make it so you can make bouquets and sell them :0
that is really cool.
cute!
COOL!
omg i need this
Omg, I played this game, didn't even realized it was you
Thanks for playing!
nice job Atsu, mad jelly on the japan trip! Where did you visit?
Went to Osaka and Kyoto!
@@SquidGodDev very cool! I havent made it to Osaka but really liked Kyoto.
5:13 were you happy to see me?
whats the name of the page from 1:30? th one where he takes the color paletts
Lospec
I, apperently, am your follower
welcome :)
@@SquidGodDev it was kind of funny because I mess with Godot a lot and I happen to jokingly call myself Squid and then I found your channel today.
Can you not Port this game on the playdate? 👀
I can, though I don't think I would want to at this current moment. I'm open to the idea though.
playdate port???
Probably not
Playdate port? 🤞
Haha no plans as of now - might come back to a similar idea in the future of making a cozy game for the Playdate.
This looks very cozy. But very boring x)
Try adding something like score meter. Looking at numbers go up is always fun.
My wife had an idea of getting money for each flower with a savings goal in the top left for a trip to Tokyo, but didn't quite have enough time to add more unfortunately 😅
@@SquidGodDev I see. Well, it's great for the amount of time it took to make! Nice job! It kind of makes me want to make something similar myself.
Wait...it's pronounced Ludum Dahré?? I thought it was pronounced Ludum Dare like don't you "dare"
It's Latin for "to give a game" so that's how it's supposedly pronounced
bike is way too big
I suppose the perspective is off, but we'll just call that a stylistic choice :)
