Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash.
After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.
Packed with thrilling and spectacular fight and chase scenes, Monkey Man is directed by Dev Patel from his original story and his screenplay with Paul Angunawela and John Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World).

Now this is allyship. Dev Patel should've and still could be a BIG movie STAR! Big ups to Peele for getting this over the finishline.
I'm pretty sure he's going up from here. He was already on the radar and he's been away for a few years making this. This will be the movie that brings him to the spotlight.

Just got out of the theatre and this film is amazing. Jordan Peele sold me on his reactions alone 🤣. Hollywood is going to have a lot of trouble explaining budgets once you compare their films to Monkey Man and Godzilla Minus One.

Just having watched it over the weekend, this movie blows my mind. It is so true to its core. The India and Indian context shown here is done better than the Bollywood movies. I am well aware of the fact that the majority of the shooting has happened outside India due to Covid. This was a different beast all together.
FYI, if you can't handle shaky cam, sit towards the back of the theatre.
Dev is incredible... Trailer is on fire! I wish Dev wins Oscar as a director!

Hollyweird can't handle this !!! He may quicker get an award from Bollywood which I would prefer to see , best actor! Best director, best producer and best screen writer and the award goes to Dev Patel!! And whit almost 2 billon ppl in India supporting him he's on like boil corn!!!

Excited for this one, especially with the positive coverage of it coming out of SXSW. On a similar note, why hasn't Peele done a full blown action film like this? I know they did Keanu, but I would love to see something really visceral like this and other John Wick-esque movies.
Horror is Peels's go to movies because he loves the genre, but I like the fact he giving films like this that isn't horror a theatrical release because that means he's willing to diversity genres to give Non horror films a chance at Monkeypaw productions to be released theatrically.

@@Freeden True, even though Keanu is more of a comedy action movie, but he left that Key and Peele Era of his career and now is a filmmaker and a producer now, so if he wants to do action, he can do it if he wants to because he's a producer and a filmmaker and make it but if he doesn't want to make an action movie, he doesn't make one.
