- Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real have just released a new album, A Few Stars Apart. Lukas has been generating a lot of steam over the last decade with a steady flow of records and live shows (either with his band or with his dad, Willie Nelson). While that would keep most musicians busy, Lukas and his band have also been backing up Neil Young from time to time. Now, during the pandemic, he’s had to switch gears. For the first time in a long time, Lukas has mostly stayed put in Austin, Texas, and on the north shore of Maui where he grew up. He joined host Tom Power from Maui to tell us about the new record and what he’s been up to.

Lucas Nelson is an adorably precious man with musical talent that will eventually surpass even his father. The tablecloth on the table is something we don’t see often anymore. Just one more of those uniquely charming things about Lucas Nelson. I hope Lucas does some acoustic songs on Jimmy Kimmel soon. People need to hear Lucas Nelson sing solo with his acoustic guitar. That is where Lucas shines more than ever. His solo Singing with acoustic guitar shows another whole layer of his talent and charm. Need to do least one or two albums singing solo with just his acoustic guitar

I love this man so much. Perineal Rose is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Leave Them Behind unfortunately is a state I’ve found myself in. Not a pleasant place to be but I got thru it. I want this album. I know it came from your heart which is what music should do. From your heart to ours you are such an amazing person.
I took a look at your tour schedule and sadly there’s not a show this year in Louisiana. Maybe another time. Lukas keep on rocking and we’ll keep on listening. May God bless you and your family abundantly. 🦋🦋🦋

Dear Lukas you have the soul of a HIPPIE AND IVE LISTENED TO NEIL YOUNG FOR ALMOST MY WHOLE LIFE AND YOU DID QUARANTUNES AND THINGAMAJAMS AND MICAH SAID STAY POSITIVE TEST NEGATIVE AND I ADDED CARRY ON AND THAT WAS MY MOTTO THRU ALL OF THE QUARANTINING I HAVE ONLY LEFT THIS HOUSE 36 TIMES SINCE 14 MARCH 2020 AND MUSIC IS EVERYTHING TO ME WE MY 5 YEAR OLD GRANDSON AND I LISTENED AND DANCED AND SANG ALL LAST SUMMER. THIS IS THE SUMMER OF HEALING. WE LOVE YOU ALL AND IN 1 DAY THIS ALBUM IS # 1 SO HAPPY FOR ALL OF YOU WE MADE IT THRU WE ARE STILL ALIVE AND. I HAD OFFERS BONUSES WAIVE MY CEU REQUIREMENTS PAY THE LICENSE FEE AS NURSES WERE HIT HARD EVERYWHERE BUT NO MY FAMILY COMES FIRST AND WE MADE IT THRU AND ALL FULLY VACCINATED EXCEPT OWEN. BUT HE HAD TO START KINDERGARTEN ON A COMPUTER HAD NO INTERACTIONS WITH KIDS SINCE EARLY MARCH 202O. Wow. Chopin is so hard to play. The phraseology alone can send you to the backyard in tears. But, Lucas, you play it beautifully. I'm so impressed.
