  • This time i literary went into a hellhole.
    Join me on one of the most claustrophobic experiences of my life that took place in the monastery of Khor Virap (which itself literary translates as Bottommost Pit). But that was far from the only interesting spots in Armenia.
    We took a long roadtrip from Yerevan all the way to the south of the country, close to Iranian borders, crossing the high mountains and unforgiving mountain roads as we were going to the Tatev monastery - to me one of the most beautiful landmarks of Armenia.

    When you said: "This is what you will se on the other side" I expected lookaround, but there was a cut. It was weird. And the 3 hours ride, which took 5. Possibly highway. Was it a highway? Can anyone confirm, if it was, or not? I wasn't able to find that information. And I learned, that the pillars in the pass is called Zangezur Gates.

    Is the way driving up to the tatev dangerous? some posts suggests better taking the cable car up there, I wonder whether driving there is feasible with average driving skill

    • @LexUniverse
      @LexUniverse  Před měsícem

      actually the cable car was not working when we went there...
      but yeah, with some caution (the road is not paved and not the best quality), you can get there by car just fine... and we went in March, there was even some snow now and there and it was ok...
      the cable car itself doesn't actually save you from the most difficult parts of the road... you still have to get quite high in altitude... there are some serpentines while climbing up, but if you go at a regular pace, there will be no problem :)
