Saw these guys live, DD Verni tossed out his pick at the end to this little cutie that was jumping up and down the whole concert and I snagged it just before she got her hands on it :) I guess I felt a little bad about it, but I still got that pick 24 years later. Hot damn DD gave me the dirtiest look. (This was in Vancouver Canada in case someone remembers that, doubt it though :)
My wife of 17 years we are in our sixties and she tries to make love to this music it's great love every second of it signed an old man that can still get it
Heard this album back in my metal heyday in the early 2000s. Listened to this album the other day high as all hell and oh man Skullcrusher sounded like a new song I never heard before I was like wtf!!!
Funny thing is that Overkill wasn't that big back then,... I found out about them on an offchance and blew some sweet 15" bass speakers on this song's bass (I did crank the bass full "overkill" though),..... If they weren't on the radar back then,.. what makes one think they would be anymore on the radar based on views now???? I am just glad I came across some great hard to find music,...
first time truly listening to Overkill. I must say i am very much impressed i cant believe i hadnt listened to much of them before but I am young at the age of 19, so I am slowly as much i as i hate to say get into the deeper metal bands that less people have heard of of but i am getting there my god do i hate myself for not listening to them sooner but such is life any suggestions to more songs or artists would be awesome
@menckencynic Absolutely beautiful words put together man that is poetry in my mind. You have a really good style of writing also and is very refreshing to read.
@sepulmattica1 like thanks man. enjoyed very much the songs and yes i do understand this did things myself in my short life that i have regretted. I also understand that for you and everyone else who has listened to metal back then, has more respect and meaning to you. I do find meaning in this and love the music. As Megadeth has put it with "back in the day" I wont ever truly understand as much as i want to but yeah. thank you again
@menckencynic Sounds like you're describing me! Only I haven't bought an Overkill shirt yet, sadly. Most of my friends, and myself, look like we walked right out of the 80's. Metal will live on. When old fans go, new ones step in. A never ending chaotic cycle!
@thatmetalhead9000 Look, This album (years of decay) especially is not for the spoiled. If you led a spoiled sheltered life you will not understand it, or get it. Even though your 19, if your vibin off it, so be it. Welcome to the real shit. This album and song will always bring me back to 89, even though some of the shit I went through at that time was pretty fucked up, it helped me get through it. Try "Birth of tension" or "Nothin to die for" from the same album
Fuck Kurt Cobain you may retort in person send me a PM I live in Knoxville.I met Billy Milano from SOD/MOD back in 94 he called Overkill Over the Hill.He could tell I wasn't to happy about it and quickly changed the subject. We were cool though.Made me LMAO.Funny dude.
@jzeatsvag This song isn't thrash. Its more Sabbath than anything. Which is where most of grunge came from. I think Overkill saw the future here; this coulda been a damn Soundgarden riff.
@@VictorDabela I like pantera, but Overkill murders them. The years of decay is an insane album and pantera never came close to this album. R.I.P Dime and Vinnie tho
@ThrashFuckinMetal Metalcore has a lot of talent in terms of instrument ability. Theres a few good guitarists and drummers in that genre, but the music is shit lol. As for rap, well i quite like the real stuff- not mainstream Lil Wayne/Solja Boy shit, I'm talking Immortal Technique. That is guy is fucking intelligent and a great lyricist. Theres a lot of good music around today anyway e.g. Vektor, Hexen, Evil Army, Warpath, White Wizzard, Diamond Plate etc.
This song is so heavy, it has it's own gravitational pull.
This whole album is a brilliant metal masterpiece!!
One of the most underrated bands in history as well as one of the most underrated songs.

You bastard! Great story :D
Dick! :D
Cock blocked D.D.....lol

Haha...I love Bobby's tone when he sings...
Sounds so evil and awesome. Overkill rules!!
My personal favorite thrash band of all time thank in part to this album. I strongly believe Overkill and Testament should be on the "big" 4 tour.
should have been Metallica, Megadeth , Slayer,Overkill, Testament & Exodus - the big 6 , Anthrax just never really fit in IMO
Nuclear assault it underrated too
Overkill: the masters of the metal anthem. I love it when they slow things down a bit, shows incredible range.
yeah man!! me too! my favorite one is Black Daze!
Saw them in a Bar (Saratoga Winners, NY), Ellsworth sat on a Stool and sang this. Which made it even more impressive and imposing.
I'm seeing Overkill tonight in Sheffield, I really hope they play this one, my favourite Overkill tune!
Always loved how it sounds like it's going to end at about 8:10 , then hits you some more.
The best song they've done...so bone crushingly heavy...especially live!
It's that it's so slow..just heavy..so OVERKILL. Fuckin love it. Best metal band ever.
One of the best metal CDs ever made
YES!!!!!!!!! THIS SONG - SABBATH ORIENTED EPIC CLASSIC DOOM METAL!!!!!!! SHREDDED
My wife of 17 years we are in our sixties and she tries to make love to this music it's great love every second of it signed an old man that can still get it
How the hell this isn't a lot more popular I have no idea...been blasting this one since it came out.
OVERKILL ARE THE BEAST FROM NJ// PURE GREATNESS*
Sounds like that 90's Sabbath Groove thrash before Pantera grew some balls.
Overkill went full doom metal on this track.
Doom Metal!
Heavy metal
A Thrash band.....😎
a very doom riff indeed
well i think she is quite right if we consider Overkill's sound is always dark, gloomy
Heard this album back in my metal heyday in the early 2000s. Listened to this album the other day high as all hell and oh man Skullcrusher sounded like a new song I never heard before I was like wtf!!!

It's my new death rattle. :D

This is the Mad Max saga, told in the bad-asssest way possible.
@sepulmattica1 like thanks man. enjoyed very much the songs and yes i do understand this did things myself in my short life that i have regretted. @menckencynic Sounds like you're describing me! Only I haven't bought an Overkill shirt yet, sadly. Most of my friends, and myself, look like we walked right out of the 80's.
Metal will live on. When old fans go, new ones step in. A never ending chaotic cycle!

there are alot of under rated songs on this CD
By no means is this album underrated...
i fuckin love skull crusher!!!

BLITZ FOR PRESIDENT// 2020***
Sounds like Overkill listened to The Pestilence by kreator before making this song lol
Or saint vitus & pentagram

the weight of the first part of this song is 1000 tons
Badass old school metal ,,,bitches
@jprophet420 Im from generation Y. And i completely fucking agree with you!
@jzeatsvag This song isn't thrash. Its more Sabbath than anything. Which is where most of grunge came from. I think Overkill saw the future here; this coulda been a damn Soundgarden riff.
@ThrashFuckinMetal Is not all Meatel influenced my Black Sabbath in one way or another????
And its sure not a bad thing for sure... KEEP ROCKING!!!
@lothes Black Sabbath created metal last time I checked. So, yes.
More Sabbath than Sabbath itself,,,,
EVERYONE WAS INFLUENCED BY SABBATH
Wow. What a stupid song title. Oh wait......
the album cover looks straight out of conan the barbarian
@evilearmy I used to be pissed about that. Then I realized they both stole it from Sabbath. Its all in how you use it.
Right on dude! keep on Trashing
I just want to know why you had to bring about screamo/scene bands as you put instead of just saying this is the real shit plain and simple?
Elitist.
@jzeatsvag Ikr, Grunge just "killed" metal (But metal never dies my friend ;) )
@ravenlorans wtf r u saying!!! sorry but i dont no please translate!!!!!!
Thrashh! \m/
Overkill is just more metal than anything Pantera has spit through it's ass.
VictorDabela don't be silly lol
I was silly that time, but this fact hasn't changed.
@@VictorDabela I like pantera, but Overkill murders them. The years of decay is an insane album and pantera never came close to this album. R.I.P Dime and Vinnie tho
Try Tenacious D.
Thrash Doom what
Both but way more doom

+Yberfall This is Thrash Metal.
Grunge tried to kill The Metal...
HAHAHAHA! IT FAILED, AS IT WAS STRICKEN TO THE GROUND.
@ThrashFuckinMetal Metalcore has a lot of talent in terms of instrument ability. Theres a few good guitarists and drummers in that genre, but the music is shit lol.
