    Just bought a home with a PF2100. The previous owner hadn’t cleaned in 5 years! I took it apart yesterday and gave it a good cleaning. I’ll have to get a full new kit either way. Thanks for the video.

    Wow, thanks for the tip on replacing the foam . I was starting to have problems with my PF 2000 but after seeing this. I ordered some replacement foam. And once I opened up my filter. Yes, the foam had shrunk after 2 years . Now my PF 2000 is working properly with new replacement foam and clear water now.

    Very helpful video - thank you for going through the effort to document all the steps in detail! Was intending to just change my UV light, but you've explained the benefit of replacing the filter sponges as well, so thank you!!

    if the quartz sleeve seals ever leak the UV head fills with water. This happened on my PF 8000 which was 8yrs old and give good service. I bought the newer Laguna Clear Flo 14000. Took it out the box and the quartz sleeve was broken !

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 4 lety

      You’re absolutely right- and once the quartz has filled with water the ballast/electrics are at risk of water ingress and could be written off. A very good reason to always renew the o rings when replacing the uvc tube annually! The Laguna service kit and genuine replacement and uvc tubes come with the required replacement o ring.

    Great video. But, I notice you did not use lava rocks. I just replaced my lava rocks with bio-balls. What do you think about those? And another question. In your monthly backwash procedure, How long do you run a backwash typically?

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před rokem

      Hi there! Thanks for your comment and my apologies for the very slow response. The netted bags of lava rock were a filter medium that came with the filtration system as stock- a replacement/upgrade for the older plastic media that used to be supplied with the older generation of Laguna pressure flo filters. As for how long to leave the filter running to back wash- simply long enough for the dirty water to be expelled- once clear water is being discharged via the cleaning outlet turn the mechanism back to ‘filter’ so water can return to the pond. In general a backwash will only take a minute or two.
      Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    Are these filters particularly good? Trying to choose between one of these and a pondxpert easy pond auto

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před rokem

      All pressurised filters have their limitations, however they are a very convenient way to filter small/medium volumes of water. My favourite pressurised filter is the Oase filtoclear range. But the Laguna would be in second place! They are well priced, durable and easy to maintain. However the method of general maintenance cleaning of this system is less efficient then in the oase filtoclear models and often then entails a full strip down and clean to conduct a thorough clean. Easy enough to do however.
      Hope this helps and thanks for commenting!

    Hi I have a laguna pressure flo unit which is leaking water from one of the cleaning rod holes. Is there a seal around the rod that can be replaced or would I have to buy the whole top lid? Thanks

    How do you clean the filters between yearly replacement? Replacing the filters is a no brainer..

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 2 lety

      Hi there, thanks for your comment! Between these larger seasonal services you should be performing monthly or even fortnightly backwashes. This is very simple to perform-I’ve not undertaken a tutorial for this procedure as it’s so simple and clearly outlined in the instructions for the filter unit/Laguna website. If you struggle though I’m happy to video one!

    My UV light was green but now its orange. Is it because its dirty or do I need to change the UV ? Thx

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před rokem

      Thanks for your comment and my apologies for the slow response. If the uvc indicator window was once blue/green/purple (ish- some people say I’m colour blind!!) and is now a lighter brown/yellow/orange colour its most likely algae or some other organic material staining/blocking the clear uvc window. If you can get access to it use a cotton ear bud to give it a wipe from the inside and that should help!

    How often do you need to service these filters?

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi there, thanks for watching and commenting. I would aim to perform an interim back wash at least monthly, preferably more frequently (weekly) if the pond has heavy fish stock. I would take apart the filter every few months to give a thorough clean (spring,summer, autumn/winter) and once a year in spring replace consumables- filter foams and uvc tube- to keep everything performing at its optimum.
      Hope this helps,

    Did you change out the lava rocks?

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 2 lety

      Hi there-both the plastic media in the older units and the bags of lava rock in the newer generation will last the lifetime of the filter unit and shouldn’t require replacing. The plastic mesh that contains the lava rock may well disintegrate over time and need replacing however!

    My quartz sleeve is black. Is this gunk or is it normal.
    I never cleaned it.
    Where can I order new foams?

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 3 lety

      Sounds like you have a build up of scale/algae on your quartz sleeve-this will need to be cleaned off using some fine wire wool, or an abrasive pad. Laguna sell foams and uvc tubes separately, or a service kit that includes a set of foams, a uvc tube and some
      Replacement o rings is also available. Google is your friend here!! Just type in your filter spec into Google search and you’ll find lots of online stockists, or alternatively contact your local Aquatics store.

    Hi can you tell me what size maintenance kit i need for a pressure flo 2500 please...

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 3 lety

      For your unit you will require a pressure Flo 2500 service kit (funnily enough!). This will comprise of a set of foams, an 11w uvc tube, some o-rings and a tube of silicon grease. Such a set will cost approx £35/£40.
      Hope this helps!

    Hi i have just got my self a laguna pressure - flo 10000 and a 4000 max max flo pump what size fuse are in the plugs is 5amp best for both ,it will run as a separate unit.thank,s Gary

    • @CrystalClearAquatics
      @CrystalClearAquatics  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi there! Based on the approx wattage of 20watts for the filter and 55watts for the pump a 3amp fuse for each appliance would be fine. (Formula used is max appliance wattage divided by mains voltage plus 10% and then opt for the closest fuse to this figure). Please note that I am not a qualified electrician and would always recommend seeking advice from a qualified professional with any electrical problems. 3amp fuses will be fine though!
      Hope this helps!
