+Asian4592 I played Feste from Shakespeare's Twelve Night. My character didn't have any songs to sing at that moment in the play, so I sung this. I got a few laughs from the audience with that. What was your play?
"Look at these people, these humans beings. Consider their potential. From the day they arrive on the planet, blinking, stepping into the sun. There is more to see than there ever can be seen. More to do than-no, hold on...Sorry, that's The Lion King. But the point still stands, leave them alone!" -The 10th Doctor in "The Christmas Invasion"
Tweety Howlter i have always wanted to study and sing it !! Such a beautiful culture and language! And this song gives me goosebumps every single time 💥💥
Elton John is a genius songwriter, and the singer used for this version has the best voice for this song. I love the part: There's far too much to take in here More to find than can ever be found But the sun rolling high Through the sapphire sky Keeps great and small on the endless round Disney doesn't have music like this anymore!
Sara Petit Yup, because there's a video when they were making the movie. And the opening scene, Elton just sat in front of a piano and started to come up with it. He's actually known to write plenty of his music that way. They said they took some of what Elton wrote and build more the African sounds around. Carmen Twillie is the singer for this version, Elton has his own version but I can admit I like this one, no disrespect to Elton of course. Many songs have singers who don't write the music, it's pretty known in Disney. For example, the song Reflection from Mulan was written by two songwriters and song by two singers.
I'm in my senior year of high school; and it's still one of my favorite movies today. You're never too old for the classic Disney movies. Or any Pixar / Disney production.
This movie, The Lion King, is without a doubt the most amazing movie ever made. You can tell how good a movie is going to be by how good the beginning is, and when I heard this song, I knew the movie was going to be amazing. It's beautiful, touching, and really captivates the childhood emotions. Great work, Disney!
I do'nt like the version of Elton John that much, but the first time I heard the song I was really struck by the African intro and the voice of Carmen Twillie. Though well-worn through time, still magnificent.
I was about to watch this video..... then decided not to just because of that. Haha Back to watching the video with the animation, animation makes it awesome anyways. I've gotta rewatch this movie soon
THIS is what a kids movie is. THIS is what creates a childhood full of moments worth remembering. THIS is the stuff I grew up on, and I wish nothing more than to be four years old again so I can live it again.
this is one of those songs you will never forget from your childhood. every word is right here. this song will always be one of my favorite. a grown up teenager still knows every word! GREAT SONG!
The song that fools us into thinking these animals live in harmony: I don't know-a what the words really are (It's okay) (We'll make them up) (They'll make them up) No one knows-a what-a we are saying But it's fun to sing it anyway-a He's a threat to our lives! He could eat us all! He is on display to remind us we're prey!
*Mufasa:* Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope. *Simba:* But, Dad, don't we eat the antelope? *Mufasa:* Yes, Simba, but let me explain: When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so, we are all connected in the great Circle of Life...
I cant find out why the sound is different than words. I can clearly hear "NaaantsBEnyaaa mabagithi baba, Sithi uhmmm benyaama" The actors im musical are clear and sing INGONYA. That ruined my childhood ;P
Lion King is by far the greatest disney movie ever created, i mean like nothing now or anything in the future can be better, coz nothing beats the classics
I totally thought they said penguin in Nevada when I was little lol this song has always meant so much to me! First movie I saw in theatres and my 5th b-day, this movie was my only present and I didn't need anything more. I have literally watched this movie over 100 times. My sister got her two sons into this movie cause it reminds her of me and I love watching this with my 2 year old son :)
They didn't dislike it, they disliked the uncontrollable goosebumps they got from it. And maybe the part where it cuts off just before ending. (I heard that part while typing this.
When I first saw “Coming to America” was when I first heard music from Africa, and it was probably the most beautiful and badass music I’ve ever heard. And when I saw The Lion King In 1994, this song brought tears to my eyes...and still does.
Who would agree that any song from Lion King is totally appropriate to sing anywhere at all time? The beginning of this song, In the Jungle, Can you feel the love tonight, Hakunah Matata, Can't wait to be king....I will always love the Lion King... (:
Before I die, I must learn how to say the beginning perfectly.
we had to do it for our school play
+Asian4592 I sung this in my school's play, too. But I messed up a word or two
That's cool what was your role?
+Asian4592 I played Feste from Shakespeare's Twelve Night. My character didn't have any songs to sing at that moment in the play, so I sung this. I got a few laughs from the audience with that.
What was your play?
+rosestar1324 I was in the lion king and I was mufasa

Shaun Mattice dude. Elton john didn't write this. Search it up.
Darren Chan Actually, dude, if you look it up you'll find that Elton John did compose the song & the lyrics were written by Tim Rice.
Sara Petit Yup, because there's a video when they were making the movie. And the opening scene, Elton just sat in front of a piano and started to come up with it. RyGuylegos Right?! Killed my vibe 😂
Because Mufasa isn't dying in the OST.
THE DROP AT THE END MAKES THE SONG. MY BODY FEELS EMPTY BY LISTENING TO THAT AND NOT HAVING THE DROP
Aww, I love that epic “THWUMP” at the end, too. Damn!
The Broadway version makes me cry so much! But even this version brings tears to my eyes! It's just that perfect
The swahili chanting is my favourite part of this song

I absolutely love the buildup to the climax. Epic.

This song is so beautiful, it makes me happy.
Ahhhh! The classics!! No animated movie nowadays holds a candle to all the
Disney movies from Alice in Wonderland to The Lion King!
The song that fools us into thinking these animals live in harmony:
I
don't know-a
what the words really are
(It's okay)
(We'll make them up)
(They'll make them up)
No one knows-a
what-a we are saying
But it's fun to
sing it anyway-a
He's a threat to our lives!
He could eat us all!
He is on display
to remind us we're prey!
I was looking for that parody as well! I saw it on Screen Junkies' Honest Trailers take on The Lion King.
*Mufasa:* Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope.
*Simba:* But, Dad, don't we eat the antelope?

I don't care how old you are this song is amazing....
the beginning translation was very well done, I now know how to say "A lion and lepoard come to this open place" in Swahili!
Lion King would have to be one of the most adult themed animated Disney movies ever made.. Hence why adults still enjoy this movie to this day.
be true to who you are and don't give up your childhood and your soul will never die
I just love listening to Disney Music while on the computer :)
Who would agree that any song from Lion King is totally appropriate to sing anywhere at all time? The beginning of this song, In the Jungle, Can you feel the love tonight, Hakunah Matata, Can't wait to be king....I will always love the Lion King... (:
what is sad is that the next generation will never know awe quite like we did when we were younger and saw masterpieces such as this
