Installing AEW Exhaust On Royal Enfield Interceptor 650: Indian Vance And Hines?
Vložit
- čas přidán 12. 03. 2019
- The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is a lovely modern retro that pays homage to the bikes from nearly half a century ago. Elegant lines, no unnecessary panels, and a simple, clean design. But there is one flaw: the massive exhaust pipes it comes with.
They just rob the motorcycle of its looks, and seem disproportionate from the rest of the bike. Now, I understand that they are this big due to BS4 restrictions and Royal Enfield can't really do anything about it.
This is where aftermarket options kick in.
An Indian manufacturer, AEW (based out of Pune), has come up with a very sleek looking exhaust for this bike in stainless steel finish that looks like it was designed by Vance and Hines for a Triumph modern retro.
My reason for going in with this exhaust was simple: I just wanted nicer looking pipes. Not loud pipes, just nicer looking.
And the AEWs do that and a lot more.
With the baffle installed, they sound slightly louder than the stock pipes. For people who want to tour or not draw any uncalled for attention, this is a perfect set of pipes, I would say.
And if you want a louder set up, well, just take the baffles out and let it roar.
They cost Rs 15,500, which is extremely reasonable if you ask me.
And they weigh just 1.9 kg per exhaust can. That is a weight reduction of 6 kg from the stock pipes.
This is a video just about the unboxing and the installation of the AEW pipes. I plan to another video on its performance, fuel economy changes, pros and cons and flyby so that you get a complete picture and can decide whether to go for it or not.
If you would like to buy them, you can approach AEW here: www.torquexhausts.com/
If you have any doubts, queries, feel free to leave me a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
If you would like to see the modifications I am carrying out on the Interceptor 650 and my two other bikes, you can take a look at my Instagram page, which is a lot more active than my CZcams: / abhinavbhatt19

finally an Indian video which starts with English and ends in English.you sir are very posh .greetings from srilanka
Thanks buddy. Greetings from India.
I have to agree. I'm from The UK and I watched every second of it and looking forward to the road test.
The exhaust note was very good and sounded 'serious' and 'intentional' and I think it is a very good modification.
Thanks, Martin. The road test of the exhaust will take some time since I am switching to upside down forks and my bike is half dismantled. May take some two weeks.
@@abhinavbhatt No worries. Take your time and do it right 🙂
🙏
This is the first time CZcams has recommended something really good!
🙏
This is quality content. Well done from the UK. Keep it up! :)
Thanks, buddy.
Very few on social media can be fluent like you. Appreciate your explanation and command on the language. Keep sharing such videos.
Thanks, brother.
In USA everyone who buys a bike quickly puts on new exhaust....it's a universal urge I guess!
yes but in india it's against the laws and i deeply regret it🤨
@@Torquebeast650 some times stock exhaust heat engine and reduce performance and life.
It’s their wish not urge.
@@mantechvlogs5902 you are right, but what can we do, i think you know how cops treat bikers when they catch em running aftermarket accessories
I liked AEW too , but harassment from cops is too much for me
@@Torquebeast650 nah bro DB's should be in limit, then you are good to go,
Thank you so much for the detailed information and install. I appreciate your showing the problem with the baffles and not just cutting that out. We have only had the 650’s here in the USA for about three months, I hope to have one in about two more months. Thanks again.
I am glad you enjoyed the video, Robert. It is a lovely bike. Youll really like it. Cheers
What a well detailed video. Info was crisp, and unlike most exhaust note videos where the person was busy revving the engine, here you let the exhaust do all the talking without the unnecessary revving. Great job!
Thanks bud :)
Really good instructional video Abhinav, great exhaust mod, and making the bike a bit lighter is a benefit generally, just loved the way you produced and presented the whole video, all the best from a biker in UK.
Thanks, Derek. Are you guys enjoying this bike there? Generally hearing good things about it. Did you get a chance to take a spin on it?
@@abhinavbhatt Hi, Abhinav all the reviews of these bikes have been very positive and full of praise considering they are a new model, not a lot to complain about, this bike reminds me of the Triumph Bonneville and the Norton Commando and the likes, it really is a gorgeous machine all round, just beautiful. I personally have not ridden one myself but would love to if the chance came about.
Love the sound brother, with and without the baffle. Safe riding.
Lovely video and very informative for anyone who's looking at aftermarket exhaust options for the RE. Thanks for making this!
Thank you, Amit.
i like how calm you are when u talk..like u r just so shaaant..makes everything awsome for bikes.
One should always be calm :)
When i saw your video for the first time , i was damn sure u were differnt from other youtubers in India , man i just love your videos its simple and dono what to say . And hey ... u will reach great heights .. thats for sure
Thanks for the kind words, buddy :)
Abhinav i truly appreciate what you are doing, and you are doing it the right way. not like people modding it for heck of modding it. there is a purpose behind every mod you do, i like it, i also understand it. please keep making such content. most of the influencers are not doing what you are doing, cause it takes heart to do it right..... i feel it bro. cudos.. will share it too... :)
Thanks brother. I am glad this content is reaching its intended audience like you. Much obliged. Cheers
Abhinav Bhatt Is this legal?
I'm afraid not.
I enjoyed your video for many reasons ... the traffic noise and sunshine and vibrancy of your country brought pleasant nostalgic moments..... I was transfixed by your abundance of RE (a make I never see in Canada).
I cringed when the baffle was lost, but you were cool and professional about it! Take care - great work!
Thank you so much :)
Excellent video! Good to see Enfield and Triumph putting out sharp bikes. I had one of their 500 Bullets years ago, fun bike. Keep up the great videos!
Thank you.
I really like that you change exhaust at your own, I also do same. Loving video bro 10,000 lakh like.
Thanks, Parul. Yeah, I like to tinker with the bike myself. Far more satisfying than getting it done by someone else.
A very Clean and Honest review.👍
I subbed without any second thought🙂👍
Thank you, buddy. Cheers
Really enjoyed this vlog, really well edited and well spoken. Look forward to more vlogs.

Great video Abi, informative, clear and personable. I did chuckle at 12:30 when you dropped that first baffle in.. "oh God!"...brilliant! We can all sympathise with moments like these! Last in India in April and missing it. Look forward to the next videos on the Interceptor (I'm getting the GT)
Thanks, Barney :) and congratulations on the GT. You'll love it, I'm sure.
Great video, I laughed out loud when you dropped the baffle down the exhaust because that sort of thing happens to me ! Lovely bike I must get one.
Thanks, Hugh :)
Great executed video on internet today
Very professional editing 😎🤗
Thank you.
Bro you have cool voice. That makes me watch your videos

the sound with the baffle in is absolutely perfect, keep it in!!!!
I did. Till I took it out :)
And then I switched to a 2x1 full system custom tuned :p
Hi sir ! Huge fan of yours from Pune !
Your videos are very simple but exceptionally
INFORMATIVE !! hope you get to 100k very soon 😁😁
Thanks brother. I can barely edit, and I don't care about cinematic shots, drone shots, selfies and everything else. The point of these videos is to spread out worthwhile information and nothing else. So I don't even try to do something I can't.
I am first in like and comment yay but not in views there were already 5.
Edit : sounds like machine gun on semi auto mode with the baffel. Iwonder how good will a matt black exhaust look on the bike🤔.
Nice video by the way bhaia your sound was clear despite the traffic( becoming a problem now a days no empty roads )
Thanks brother. Yeah, a blacked out exhaust would look dope.
Exactly my thoughts, stock exhaust way too big 💪
Great video and very elegantly explained. I am actually stunned by the fact that you read and answered each and every comment. Keep up the good work Abhinav.
Thanks, brother. The point being, this is my video and any doubt people have after watching it, I ought to clarify.
Picking up my GT tomorrow! This video was really helpful. Thank you!
Most welcome.
The engine sounds like it is idling way too fast. Those new pipes really improve the sound.
The engine is most likely cold and with the fuel injection the engine will idle fast for the first 20-30 seconds.
Can I please get the privilege of meeting you before you become a very famous personality of youtube (that you'll surely become in the coming months)😂😂
Haha. I'm not becoming famous anytime soon. Not that I would ever want to either. I am a simple guys who loves riding bikes. You can meet me any Sunday when I am out on a ride. Cheers
Will surely catch up soon!
I think these exhausts will be a good fit on the GT650. Loved that bike. Great video man! Keep it up.
Yeah. Direct fit on them as well and look quite nice. Thanks buddy.
Hey man! I loved your honest review! Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely love your videos Abhinav! Really well presented. After spending 4 years in India I’ve been wanting a piece of Royal Enfield nostalgia here at home in California.
Your videos are great source of knowledge and information for when I get my 650 GT here. If you’re ever state side let’s hit the PCH and get some drone shots !
Hey, brother. Thanks for the encouraging words. I am sure you'd love the Conti GT. Such a relaxed, sublime engine. I'll definitely hit you up if I travel to the States. So want to ride "The Snake".
Where is r15 v3, sir.
Sir, not ready yet. Will take some time.
@@abhinavbhatt name suits her too xD
Yeah. Lol
Eh how did my message end up here
Only you would know.
Sounds exactly like a ducati L-twin
Haha. More like Triumph.
Ducatis are totally different because of L twin... But this bike is more like triumph parallel twins..
@@anujjayant5 totally different right? L-twin ducatis and the 650 twins both have have 270 degree cranks, so their firing orders are the same and they sound very similar. Listen to a monster with an aftermarket pipe. It will sound very similar to the twins.
Yeah. RE Bonnie, it is.
@@ojastushar8123 yes it is bro.. but block configuration also matters... This is why Ducati has a signature sound of L twin.. also like Harley's V those has same firing order but totally different sound.
I just ordered one for my GT650.
Lets see how it sounds in person.
Love your videos..keep posting videos more sooner
Congratulations. Yeah, I do want to up the pace of me posting videos.
Subscribed for the clean narration.
Thank you :)
Sounds absolutely sweet Sir - well done!!
Thank you, sir.
Really a sweet bike and I actually like the sound of the pipes you got with the baffles. I am seriously contemplating an Interceptor for my next bike (I ride an SV 650 currently).
The SV is such an underrated but lovely ride. I'm sure you will like the Interceptor.

Hopefully I shoot it soon.
This is exactly what I want, for all the same reasons. I don't want more performance or more noise. I just lighter, and about 30% smaller in all dimensions. Great video. Thanks for sharing this!
Most welcome, John.
Abhinav bhai, you have got the best exhaust for RE. I had installed AEW exhaust on my RE 350 Classic. They sound great. Keep posting more videos. Thumps Up.

Hi, Mahesh. Thank you for the encouraging words. Cheers
Very detailed video. You are good man 👍

Loved the raw content and a complete description. Job well done. I was also thinking about the design of the baffle, they should have worked a little bit more to make it flawless.
Yeah. But for this price I can't complain.
@@abhinavbhatt yup need to consider that as well.
Absolutely.
Thank you , great vid ! I actually love the look of the oversized pipes but looking for alternatives to improve the sound a bit
These exhausts definitely will.
Great mod. Wouldn't want add to the noise pollution, but the pre-baffle bass note - awesome. Looks great, shed weight. Great video.
Thanks buddy.
Loves the Oh God Baffle drop!!😂
Still waiting for the flyby video. Keep up the good work!
Bike half dismantled right now. Upside down forks being installed. It may take two weeks.
No nonsense stuff great video bhaiya❤️😊
Thanks, Satpal :)
Abhinav Bhatt you're welcome bhaiya😊
Dude spot on with the comment regarding the silencer on the interceptor 650.
To be honest I’d like the silencer to be straight silencer like the older T-100 from triumph.
Subscribed 👍👍👍
Thanks, Ivan. For the straight pipes, one will have to get rid of the centre stand. I am sure it can be done.
Damn. The baffles make it sound so RICH !!
They do!
Beautiful bike ... I'm so jealous ... take care out on the roads my friend
Thanks buddy :)
I was just wondering where had you been bro....like last video was 2 weeks ago. Great video mate 🤩
Thanks man. My videos will always be very spaced out. I'll only make one if there is actually something worthwhile enough to tell. Or else, I won't.

Awesome sound post adding baffles!
Yeah. I like the muted sound too. Very refined.
Agree. I was planning to upgrade to this, then I heard Himalayan 650 is in rumours, so waiting :)
That will be some time away though.
Yeah, till then I think I will stay with my Thunderbird :)
Cool
i love that sound❤️❤️❤️
Great video man!! I always follow your videos. However it would be nice if you can also post a dyno test or graph to understand if this exhaust has any effect on performance.
Hi. I'll try to do that.
I love the sound without baffles
But it gets very annoying on a long ride.
Great video Abhinav! I'm with you on the exhaust size....the aftermarket ones are aesthetically pleasing, and they sound excellent...in my opinion. ;0)
Thanks, Gwyn. And with the baffles, they sound close to stock. Just perfect.
Shakeel bhai makes really great exhausts! I've been running a Monster on my Thunderbird Twinspark since 2012 and damn does it sound good! You get the proper thump unlike the loud annoying exhausts made by other manufacturers.
Yeah, and he's a pretty nice guy too.
Hi Abhinav Bhatt, I'm from Argentina, I'm about to buy a 650 Interceptor I fell in love with the classic look of this motorcycle and its qualities, here it does nothing but receive praise. I love the sound of AEW leaks and also its aesthetics which is, like you, my main objective without obtaining an exaggerated final sound; I consult you, the escape model is the AEW MEGAPHONE SILENCER TE 101 - thank you very much.
Hi Maria. Greetings. Yes, the model is TE101 and with the DB killer sounds very subtle. You'd enjoy it quite a lot.
Great content brother. Was planning to buy this bike but hesitating coz I have a saddle bag for my machismo 500 which wouldn't obviously fit this one. But the option of these after market silencers makes me think again. Great one. Pretty informative too.
PS: liked the exhausts without the baffle. 😉
Haha. But won't be able to tour without the baffles. Also, the Rynox Nomads work well with the upswept exhausts of this bike. Cheers
Nice video Abhinav !! Could you please tell us which handlebar you have replaced the stock with..the new one looks cool!!
Such a beautiful motorcycle!
That it is.
I find it very hilarious when you let go of the baffle and it just went all the way in, and your reaction is the funny part, when you see it go in and its gone....hahahaha
Dear Abhinav, thanks for a great video.
I tried the same exhaust, found it a bit loud. So went ahead and modified the baffles to extend with the RX135 ones with slight modifications.
Someone has to come up with the right set, so that it sounds just about loud when revved at >4K with baffles as if the baffles removed sound at
That's innovative. I'd love to hear your bike. Is there is a clip?
The new exhausts sounds mint. I am also thinking about gettting an Interceptor as a daily aswell
It's a good commuter. Peg placement horrible though.
Bro nice video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I liked it thanks fot the review
Most welcome.
Very refreshing dialog Abhinav, very nice change from all the parrots out there. Thanks for sharing. I'm getting a AEW TE203 slip on even before I take delivery of my Shotgun 650..
i love your videos man.and that baffle is seriously complicated to install.
Thanks man. It should have been better designed.
@@abhinavbhatt definitely ,considering the price.oh well the bike looks and sounds amazing so i guess we can let it slide.

Vry professional sir
#my respect....😊
Excellent video and the exhaust sounds and looks good . I realise the baffle was designed as an afterthought but
I'm not at all convinced by the way it is held in place though.
It actually was designed as an afterthought. I am the person who got in touch with AEW and pushed for it to be developed :)
And yeah, it could have been designed a lot better
