- Dear friends, I’m so happy to release this new video of Vivaldi’s Four seasons. Here is the famous Presto of the Summer concerto RV 315. This movement is based on beautiful sonnet describing a very destructive summer storm :

Alas, his fears were justified
The Heavens thunder and roar and the hail
cuts the head off the wheat and damages the grain.
This is a very challenging piece, to master double tonguing together with a good digital synchronization, try to describe the blustery weather, thunder and lightning and to work on the continuo on the harpsichord was quite a treat. But to be honest I had some much fun, especially on this beautiful boxwood Buffet Legende which is no longer a prototype but part of the catalogue, hope you’ll like it ! 😊🙏✨

@@nicolasbaldeyrou1 Yes, it has been improving over time, and until I saw your wonderful advice, it was mainly improving in the lower register.
I didn’t think Vivaldi could be played on clarinet since it is played on violins. This amazes me.
This is the best thing I have ever heard even though I have a different favorite song.

I specially like from 1:20 to 1:25 because with wind instruments you're able to do a kind of sound you just can't do on the violin, so that creates a whole different environment.

My son (21) is a former applied physics major gone over to the "DARK side" and is now a music ed.major!
WHERE did we go "wrong"?
We led him down the association by proximity path as I, his father (me), ran a successful clarinet/sax studio exposing him to the seductive "siren sound" of clarinet since childbirth. With NO ulterior motives at all....honestly!
He turned out to be decent with no particular enthusiasm on his part.
He ended up being one of the better players as he grew up, playing in the various bands, orchestras, ensembles and clinics etc. available locally in spite of himself ( high-school rep: Brahms Sonatas, Poulenc Sonata, Messager Solo de Concours, Osborne Rhapsody etc).
He seems to enjoying himself and does have somewhat of a family tree music background (most of whom had passed before he was born).
His grandmother was an honors graduate in choral conducting and piano at Northwestern University and toured Europe in the mid-50's with the Dr. James Allen Dash All America Chorus with my mother as featured harp/voice soloist (including performing for Queen Elizabeth ll).
My sister (his Aunt) was the harp faculty at the University of Colorado-Denver, first call union harpist and played with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra-Denver.
Her husband (his Uncle) earned advanced degrees in cello at Northwestern University and retired after 34yrs in the Denver Sym. Orchestra and 25yrs as principal cellist of the Colorado Central City Opera Orchestra.
During high-school my son had other activities vying for his time; varsity x-country and downhill ski racing, tennis team, drama dept. musicals and plays as well as church league basketball and volleyball etc.
BUT it was HIS idea to go into music ed.

A continuo is basically just an instrument that plays chords (i.e. harpsichord (like this video), lute, harp, etc.) but as a backing for a solo or ensemble performance.
It expands to "basso continuo" when there is a chord instrument as well as a bass instrument (e.g. cello) playing the accompaniment.
