The Great American Outback Trail
The Great American Outback Trail is a 2,000 mile overland route that's currently under development, with planned release for Winter/Spring 2023. The route is comprised of a giant loop through some of the lower 48's most remote regions and darkest skies including central and eastern Oregon, NE California, Northern Nevada, and Southern Idaho.

My neck of the woods! There is some incredibly beautiful country out on the eastern side of Oregon. But it can be exceptionally remote, and it isn't for those who come unprepared. If needed, assistance can be more than a few hours away! Plan wisely.

Eastern and South Eastern Oregon is one of my favorite stomping grounds. Winds are a reality in this area year around. Another reality is to find private property next to the highway posted Private property no trespassing. I can not count the number of times I was close to the highway and had to turn around and deadhead back 40 miles. Many times I have spent 5 days camping and not seen another person. Not an area you want to have mechanical problems.
Desert winds...One of the big reasons we traded in the land cruiser for a truck camper!!
I grew up in that country. Born in K Falls, went to high school in Lakeview. Went to elementary school in Paulina. My Grandfather grazed cattle just off 97 below Mt. Shasta where you camped that first night. It's really wonderful country and some of the most sparsely populated land in the lower 48. It's just a shame that Sacramento and Portland/Eugene determine the rules the folks who live there have to live under. BTW it's pronounced Paul eye nuh.

No need for fuel stops when you have a diesel and 31 gallon fuel tank ;)

Nice cinematography! I almost hate to say this, because most people want to argue about it, but to an English major, pronouncing route (root) as rout is distracting. Webster's makes very clear the proper pronunciation (and no, it's not a "toe-meh-to" vs "to-mah-to") thing. Sorry to be a stickler, but you work so hard and do such a fine job on your vids that I hate to see (or, hear) anything tarnish that. Keep up the good work!
Why didn't you use the portable kitchen stove to start the fire??
I'd considered it, but with the wind howling and the rain looking like it was about to come down any minute, I figured I wouldn't be able to enjoy the fire.
